I actually love the weather, even in winter. The lack of affordable food is due to the ban on fast foods. McDonald's and Starbucks got grandfathered in -- that's it. My big gripe is the lack of affordable rentals -- it took me a year and a half to find one.
Winter is so mild that it really can be lovely. Affordable housing - such a big challenge here on Bainbridge Island, as well as the rest of Kitsap County. Fun fact I learned at the Kitsap Housing Summit in April - Washington is the most under built state when it comes to new construction. Housing affordability is going to continue to be a massive issue.
I forgot -- Westside Pizza is also a fast food chain. Another caveat: get used to buying stuff online. For me, it's art supplies and comic books, and you can't try before you buy.
Oh, and if you need an emergency room, that's in Silverdale or Seattle. I opted for the former, and it cost me a $1400 trip there, and a $70 (with tip) taxi home. Just sayin'.
The lack of restaurant choices is the worst, isn't it!? And don't forget the lack of consistent hours. It drives me crazy when I show up to meet someone for breakfast and the restaurant has decided that they aren't open that day despite the sign in the window saying they are!

This are dead-on. We especially bemoan the lack of maintenance and repair technicians as well as the dearth of restaurant choices.
