They should combine them all, make a live action, micky-centric movie where they meet an alien race of turtles (so the guys can get some alien turtle G/Fs) & using the Alien tech they go to an alternate dimension where they meet up with that other new turtle, what's his name, & have to defeat the triceratons (who rule earth in that dimenson) to get back home. Explosions & action ensues & they manage to get back. Only some of the triceratons get through with them & the TMNT have to defeat the Triceraton leader at the end to make things right. & then they could have either the triceratons that got through stay peacefully on this earth or they agree to go back to their own dimension & do.
I honestly would’ve liked to asked Eastman and/or laird if they ever saw the ROTTMNT cartoon series and expressed what species they’d have liked to make one of their favorite turtle creations to be, like... we know that Kevin Eastman considers Raphael his favorite ninja turtle creation, and I bet he’d have liked to draw Raphael into one of his favorite real life turtle species be it a red eared slider or one of them dove eating turtle predator species known as Common Snapping Turtles. Honestly, the Mikey story where the other brothers and Splinter were reverted to animal form sounds like it had the potential for the most deeply heartfelt story.

Yeah there is a groundwork for that through the 2013 game TMNT: Out of the Shadows. It was a huge flop tho, you can't even get the game easy now because it's license expired and is digital only. The mod community is at a road block as well.

Same, I love that movie. It had slightly weaker plot but I loved it as a kid and it still holds a special place in my heart. Especialy Leo x Ralph fight scene. Absolutely spectacular.
The main plot was the only thing holding the movie back. The side plots such as the feud between Leo and Raph and Leo's prologue in the north Korean jungle were good.The art, animations, and voice acting were great. I had no other complaints about this movie.
I would like to see one of two movies in this franchise, either: 1. A retro active sequel to the 1990 movie that ignores the sequels we got back in the 90's, has the same tone as the first one and continues the story properly. Those seem to be a thing now anyway, sooo... Or 2. A new reboot that can properly capture the Mirage comic book while also bringing it up to date at the same time. In other words, an up to date version of TMNT 1990, and if it has to have sequels then do them correctly this time. Also, that story idea for the Hallmark mini series about the turtles' long lost fifth brother who turns out to be a second Shredder...that sounds pretty sick and the story board done as a comic book looks really cool. If that story board is complete then they should release it as a comic book through IDW. That way we could still see it even though it didn't get to be a movie and it would probably make a fortune. They are sitting on a gold mine with that one and probably don't realise it.

Jim Henson created the puppets etc for the first 2 TMNT movies but he passed away in 1991 hence why #3 looks different. They had to go with somebody else for third film. Also why in Secret of the Ooze they pay tribute to him in the credits.
Henson Studios Did Not go away with Jim's passing. By then his son Brian was running the company. the reason T3 went with somebody else was do to Budget.
TMNT 2007 cartoon is the most underrated nnja turtle cartoon ever made. Pretty much every important aspect of the turtles is there - more mature and dark approach to the universe; great art style and, in particular, good looking turtles instead of Shreks on steroids; strong family and friendship themes and all other stuff. Would be a great thrilogy. Yet it was not successful and quickly forgotten, leaving the spot light to Michael Bay's movies and Nickelodeon's "Rise of the turtles"... sigh.
The first nick show was successful, it ran for 5 seasons and had a long toyline and the dvds are still available Most toylines dont run now for more than a year or two, and when sales drop tie in shows are immediately canned. Thats what happened with rise for example.

It really wasn't a great movie though. It has too many elements, and no time to properly develop them. It all kind of falls apart. I mean, none of the Turtles movies are great cinema, but because the other ones are sillier, you can kind of embrace their flaws and accept them as guilty pleasures. But the 2007 movie's more serious tone means its mediocrity is harder to ignore.
Some of those movies sounded kind of interesting. A John Woo directed film with Leo and Kirby facing off initially would’ve been amazing and that Hallmark project sounded quite interesting!
I remember a few Michelangelo focused episodes from the old 87 series. So I think having a movie that focused on Michelangelo would have been a bit much to remove the other 3 turtles from much of the story. Would have been interesting to have Michelangelo have his own side story to the movie, but having it as the central focus would have been a bit much but still interesting.

I would have loved to see the one where Mikey has to save his family by finding a way to mutate them again. I don't know why but I always love story lines where the goofball immature one has to save everyone else on their own. Just one of the reasons why I like the Parasitica episode of the 2012 animated series. Its also a great way to develop the character.
I think the problem with the Turtles franchise (especially the movie aspect of it) is no quality control. They hit the right formula with the 1990 movie but they keep changing it up after that. Too many cooks in the kitchen, perhaps?

Yes, the Archie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures comic book series had this occur. The Archie series was originally set in the same continuity as the Fred Wolf cartoon, but it later branched out to become its own universe. It had some really surprising stuff in the later stories, which I cannot wait to read in the near future.
Man I remember back in ‘93 (?) before the third TMNT film came out I was at the YMCA and there was a rumor going around that part 3 was going to bring in the Technodrome, Bebop and Rocksteady and Krang and have an all out war. Obviously we thought it was all going to be true (we were 10). It’s funny how years later we finally got that type of movie with “Out of the Shadows”. (My favorite of the Micheal Bay TMNT).
IanOHara I hated the redesign of the turtles bay did but out of the shadows I was all game for because of bebop and rocksteady, I just wish they had stuck more closely to their original look, there's a mages online of concept designs for them that are just like the 87 cartoons and they look so bad ass. The Trimark live action movie has much potential, especially the new characters very unique SI-FI like. But the thing that's more exciting, is when they resurrected The Supershredder.Matter of fact instead of calling TMNT:The Foot Walks Again, it should've been titled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Return of Shedder.
For me, the fact it was gonna be made by Trimark worries me. They're mostly known for making ultra low budget direct-to-video movies. Unlike the 3 TMNT movies which had a $15 to $25 million budget, Trimark had a $3 to $4 million budget for most of their films. Keep in mind, this is the same studio that made the Leprechaun movies, which had some awful effects. So the costumes and effects on the 4th film most likely could have been Turtle Tunes territory.
🐢🥋 This makes me think that the Michael Bay films were inspired by “The Next Mutation”. If they ran with that as the basis of the story, thinking from that perspective, I can appreciate those movies more. Especially since the characters look inspired by the original creators.

For the first cancelled movie, it would have been better if Splinter changed into a feral rat monster that rampaged out of control. The turtles would have more than themselves to worry about, since their second mutations don’t sound too bad.
Cinema is a distribution company that does DVD and VHS selves primarily VHS because it was out by the 90s. He just went away . That said it wasn't a production company it was just a distribution company so they didn't owe anything with the rates for distribution so to say that they pulled out to Trimark we're going would be a disservice
Today, if i were to reboot the franchise, I would start with an origin story about hamato yoshi and oroku saki. make it about a budding friendship turned blood-feud. Where yoshi is ultimately disgraced and forced to to leave japan. leaving easter eggs along the way for things to come, such as yoshi having a fondness for small creatures. Juxtapose that by Saki having a fascination with science, technology, and power of every sort. including ancient spiritual power.
'Everyone' might've had the black box, the white box, and the yellow box back in the day, but not me. I never owned the third movie until Blu-ray, when buying a collection was the only way to get the first movie on the format. By the time that movie was released, I was a teenager, and the further they got from the tone and quality of the first movie, the less I cared. I was growing up, and the movies were being targeted more and more narrowly at kids. The maturity and edge of the first movie were gone. Even Secret of the Ooze, which I loved in 1991, was a tough slog for me by 1993. Turtles III? No thanks.
Got to admit I am not sure whether any of the above I'd liked to have seen. I do think a sequel to the 2007 film would have been good given that when the Turtles battle the Foot at the building site they are told that someone will be returning who they know which hinted at it being Shredder but how that would have worked I have no idea. A reboot going back to the original comics would be nice. I am the type of person who usually enjoys what I read and would love to see it brought to life as in the books/comics rather than some producer or director's take on the characters
The loss of Jim Henson also plays a big role in the lack of a 4th film. It became obvious in the 3rd movie that his studio was the secret sauce, and it doesn’t work without them.
Id like to see a sequel to the cgi animated film with the shredder. I like the idea of Mikey wearing black bandana but i also like a 5th turtle named Kirby as Shredder. Anything but the terrible mess that Bay TMNT turned out to be. It may be terrible but maybe death of Donatello live movie based on comics live action or cgi. The new movie needs practicle costumes with some CGI and super shredder from TMNT 2 would be awsome to return in movie.
The only way I learned about TMNT The Next Mutation was through the game, TMNT Smash Up. The way they described the forms had a bit of a different description especially for Leo but that’s how I knew. In fact, that games gallery mode showed me a lot of things about the turtles history than what I had originally known which was a bit mind blowing.
The plot would very likely have them parodying Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice" and have the Turtles searching for human girlfriends. That'd be a great idea for a Ninja Turtles fanfic, but who would actually want to see this in a movie?
Great video dude OMFG this artwork is insane... so much potential behind so much talent! The astral plane thing was explored in Next Mutation with Splinter and Venus's mentor, if I'm not mistaken. Basically all of the ideas were shelved in conception, as the bankability of the TMNT has been in flux. Studios can't decide if they're kid friendly or not, especially with others floundering at their attempts at tying dark to light in terms of the narrative structure. It sucks because the original did amazing things at an interesting time, while the follow ups just decreased in content while shying away from what was potential. I'll never forget the confusion I had as a child when the third movie came out, as well as the frustration I didn't see more Kevin Nash Shredder! It was ridiculous! This is the basic concept of the turtles in studios mind today... they make money, but we don't care to understand why. It's a dam shame.

The Shredder was and is human. That’s what the 2003 cartoon screwed up in my eyes with this Utrom-Shredder crap. The longer something runs, the odds increase of them screwing it up to unbelievability; and there’s Only Four Turtles! Leo, Raph, Donnie, and Mikey; the rest of these “ideas” are garbage.. as we’ve seen with the next mutation, which never happened, as far as we- the fans- are concerned.
The older I got the more I thought T1 is better. But as an 8-year-old kid, there is no question that T2 was far superior. Like you said it was much more kid-friendly and the main demographic of those movies were children. At no point was T3 ever good. I remember leaving the theater with my friend and we were both so disappointed.

This is weird, because I SWEAR I've seen these TMNT Next Mutation looks on action figures back in the 90's... and I wrote them off, as a kid, as being knock offs or something.. or some out there version of the turtles I was unfamiliar with.
I still feel that the animated movie Turtles Forever counts as a film. Why? When I first say Turtles Forever, it was on DVD. If it was a multiple episodes sewed into one story... I DIDN'T know that. So... (to me) Turtles Forever TOTALLY counts. Has anybody seen it or heard of it?
I dont like the 'morphing'. It has to be permanent. And if it's an ability like Telekenetic then there always has to be a negative like Glaucoma(as mentioned) With the Hulked out (Leo i think) it must be permanent & it causes him pain.. Also like the idea of them splitting up after a beef. My brothers and have argued over the decades and not talked for years here/there. Don't like it but it happens.

I feel that TMNT 2007 is a worthy sequel to the 90s live action movies. There were plenty of references to that trilogy in the form of lines of dialogue and Easter Eggs (Shredder's helmet, the TGRI canister, the time scepter, Dirk Walker's hat, etc.)

I would of like to seen the one with Michelangelo, is the last turtle. We always think as Mikey is a little more than comedy relief / back up for his Brothers. Good natured soul, with a laid back attitude. Never would we think that he would be anything more than that. Not smart enough to lead, or ever come up with a good plan. Now with out any support from his brothers or advice from his mentor. How does Mikey find and get the help he needs? Does he hide out from Shedder? Or does he go to another which he has worked with in his past. That could be April, Casey, or even Bruce Wayne, or does he go it alone? No matter what, this would be a great devolvement story for him.

I would have loved to see the one where Mikey has to save his family by finding a way to mutate them again. I don't know why but I always love story lines where the goofball immature one has to save everyone else on their own. Just one of the reasons why I like the Parasitica episode of the 2012 animated series. Its also a great way to develop the character.

The sequel for TMNT was actually supposed to adapt the "City at War" storyline and Mikey would have joined the Foot Clan and donned a black bandanna
I think the problem with the Turtles franchise (especially the movie aspect of it) is no quality control. They hit the right formula with the 1990 movie but they keep changing it up after that. Too many cooks in the kitchen, perhaps?
I love the 2012 show so much they need to make the next series close to that in my opinion

I vouch for a Netflix series with real costumes again. They did the dark crystal which was kick ass with awesome puppets. THEY BROUGHT COBRA KAI BACK! BRING US ORIGINAL STYLE TMNT, A GRITTIER VERSION PLEASE!
The 5th turtle looks like slash turtle from the old toy line, they even have the same weapons and black bandana.
This might explain why the 10th season for the 1987 TMNT series had that whole "crazy mutation" thing.
I would've loved to see a sequel of TMNT with Mikey standalone and the Triceratrons. Idk why this didnt happen yet we let bay turtles have a second movie.
The reason why is because the studio that made it went bankrupt, not due to that movie, since it did do well, but there other movies failed to pull in a profit (especially Astro boy).

Yes, the Archie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures comic book series had this occur. The Archie series was originally set in the same continuity as the Fred Wolf cartoon, but it later branched out to become its own universe. It had some really surprising stuff in the later stories, which I cannot wait to read in the near future.
At 12:44 the "Kirby" design is a carbon copy of the 1990 TNMT Slash action figure from the bandanna, pads, colours, and even his weapons.
Those TMNT Next Mutation designs look a lot like the Micheal Bay Turtles. I did enjoy those movies, so I’m happy they did something similar.

Man I remember back in ‘93 (?) before the third TMNT film came out I was at the YMCA and there was a rumor going around that part 3 was going to bring in the Technodrome, Bebop and Rocksteady and Krang and have an all out war. Obviously we thought it was all going to be true (we were 10). It’s funny how years later we finally got that type of movie with “Out of the Shadows”. (My favorite of the Micheal Bay TMNT).
IanOHara I hated the redesign of the turtles bay did but out of the shadows I was all game for because of bebop and rocksteady, I just wish they had stuck more closely to their original look, there's a mages online of concept designs for them that are just like the 87 cartoons and they look so bad ass. I want a movie done in style and darkness of the first movie with the Henson suits, the original voice actors with bebop, rocksteady and miyamoto Yojimbo!

The anti-mutation and alone Michelangelo vs. Shredder would've been nice. A 3rd movie with space and triceratons, such a shame never happened.
The Trimark live action movie has much potential, especially the new characters very unique SI-FI like. But the thing that's more exciting, is when they resurrected The Supershredder.Matter of fact instead of calling TMNT:The Foot Walks Again, it should've been titled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Return of Shedder.
For me, the fact it was gonna be made by Trimark worries me. They're mostly known for making ultra low budget direct-to-video movies. Unlike the 3 TMNT movies which had a $15 to $25 million budget, Trimark had a $3 to $4 million budget for most of their films. Keep in mind, this is the same studio that made the Leprechaun movies, which had some awful effects. So the costumes and effects on the 4th film most likely could have been Turtle Tunes territory.

This makes me think that the Michael Bay films were inspired by “The Next Mutation”. If they ran with that as the basis of the story, thinking from that perspective, I can appreciate those movies more. Especially since the characters look inspired by the original creators.
All 90s fans wanted were after 1 and 2 was Keno and Kc Jones helping the Turtles battle Krang... Smh That's what we should've got in III but they went really light like Batman franchise was doing..
For the first cancelled movie, it would have been better if Splinter changed into a feral rat monster that rampaged out of control. The turtles would have more than themselves to worry about, since their second mutations don’t sound too bad.
Cinema is a distribution company that does DVD and VHS selves primarily VHS because it was out by the 90s. He just went away . That said it wasn't a production company it was just a distribution company so they didn't owe anything with the rates for distribution so to say that they pulled out to Trimark we're going would be a disservice
Today, if i were to reboot the franchise, I would start with an origin story about hamato yoshi and oroku saki. make it about a budding friendship turned blood-feud. Where yoshi is ultimately disgraced and forced to to leave japan. leaving easter eggs along the way for things to come, such as yoshi having a fondness for small creatures. Juxtapose that by Saki having a fascination with science, technology, and power of every sort. including ancient spiritual power.
The next mutation sounds bizarre and the 5th turtle idea could’ve been a variation of Slash.
Turtle Shredder. I want to see that film so bad now. Especially since the art shows Mikey (my favorite) trying to connect with him via pizza.

'Everyone' might've had the black box, the white box, and the yellow box back in the day, but not me. I never owned the third movie until Blu-ray, when buying a collection was the only way to get the first movie on the format. By the time that movie was released, I was a teenager, and the further they got from the tone and quality of the first movie, the less I cared. I was growing up, and the movies were being targeted more and more narrowly at kids. The maturity and edge of the first movie were gone. Even Secret of the Ooze, which I loved in 1991, was a tough slog for me by 1993. Turtles III? No thanks.
I think Steve Barron should come back for a mini-series on Paramount Plus, practical effects and the dark tone of the first film.
Got to admit I am not sure whether any of the above I'd liked to have seen. I do think a sequel to the 2007 film would have been good given that when the Turtles battle the Foot at the building site they are told that someone will be returning who they know which hinted at it being Shredder but how that would have worked I have no idea.
A reboot going back to the original comics would be nice. I am the type of person who usually enjoys what I read and would love to see it brought to life as in the books/comics rather than some producer or director's take on the characters
For some of these scrapped films, I think they should repurpose them into comics.
The loss of Jim Henson also plays a big role in the lack of a 4th film.
It became obvious in the 3rd movie that his studio was the secret sauce, and it doesn’t work without them.
Maybe this is a stretch but the maquette were used in the planning stage for the hallmark mini series before they switch to cgi
Id like to see a sequel to the cgi animated film with the shredder. I like the idea of Mikey wearing black bandana but i also like a 5th turtle named Kirby as Shredder. Anything but the terrible mess that Bay TMNT turned out to be. It may be terrible but maybe death of Donatello live movie based on comics live action or cgi. The new movie needs practicle costumes with some CGI and super shredder from TMNT 2 would be awsome to return in movie.

The only way I learned about TMNT The Next Mutation was through the game, TMNT Smash Up. The way they described the forms had a bit of a different description especially for Leo but that’s how I knew. In fact, that games gallery mode showed me a lot of things about the turtles history than what I had originally known which was a bit mind blowing.
Really wish we got a follow up to TMNT 07. Love that film

It can't have been worse than the Next Mutation. Plus Steve Barron was meant to be involved.
The plot would very likely have them parodying Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice" and have the Turtles searching for human girlfriends. That'd be a great idea for a Ninja Turtles fanfic, but who would actually want to see this in a movie?

The astral plane thing was explored in Next Mutation with Splinter and Venus's mentor, if I'm not mistaken.
Basically all of the ideas were shelved in conception, as the bankability of the TMNT has been in flux. Studios can't decide if they're kid friendly or not, especially with others floundering at their attempts at tying dark to light in terms of the narrative structure. It sucks because the original did amazing things at an interesting time, while the follow ups just decreased in content while shying away from what was potential. I'll never forget the confusion I had as a child when the third movie came out, as well as the frustration I didn't see more Kevin Nash Shredder! It was ridiculous!
This is the basic concept of the turtles in studios mind today... they make money, but we don't care to understand why. It's a dam shame.
I'm a big TMNT fan and I would go with something similar to the turtles 90s movies.

The Shredder was and is human. That’s what the 2003 cartoon screwed up in my eyes with this Utrom-Shredder crap. The longer something runs, the odds increase of them screwing it up to unbelievability; and there’s Only Four Turtles! Leo, Raph, Donnie, and Mikey; the rest of these “ideas” are garbage.. as we’ve seen with the next mutation, which never happened, as far as we- the fans- are concerned.

The older I got the more I thought T1 is better. But as an 8-year-old kid, there is no question that T2 was far superior. Like you said it was much more kid-friendly and the main demographic of those movies were children. At no point was T3 ever good. I remember leaving the theater with my friend and we were both so disappointed.

This is weird, because I SWEAR I've seen these TMNT Next Mutation looks on action figures back in the 90's... and I wrote them off, as a kid, as being knock offs or something.. or some out there version of the turtles I was unfamiliar with.

I still feel that the animated movie Turtles Forever counts as a film. Why? When I first say Turtles Forever, it was on DVD. If it was a multiple episodes sewed into one story... I DIDN'T know that. So... (to me) Turtles Forever TOTALLY counts. Has anybody seen it or heard of it?

God I wish a TMNT (2007) got sequels. Mikey running off to join the foot would've been so interesting. I'd love to see the triceratons in a movie, especially with more focus on Donnie, too! Leo is my favourite, but between him and Raph, it would be nice if the others had a little more attention in movies.

I feel that TMNT 2007 is a worthy sequel to the 90s live action movies. There were plenty of references to that trilogy in the form of lines of dialogue and Easter Eggs (Shredder's helmet, the TGRI canister, the time scepter, Dirk Walker's hat, etc.)

I would of like to seen the one with Michelangelo, is the last turtle. We always think as Mikey is a little more than comedy relief / back up for his Brothers. Good natured soul, with a laid back attitude. Never would we think that he would be anything more than that. Not smart enough to lead, or ever come up with a good plan. Now with out any support from his brothers or advice from his mentor.
How does Mikey find and get the help he needs? Does he hide out from Shedder? Or does he go to another which he has worked with in his past. That could be April, Casey, or even Bruce Wayne, or does he go it alone?
No matter what, this would be a great devolvement story for him.
