@@drewsoutdooradventures01 weather has been lovely with the exception of today. We had a nice walk at Haden Hill with one of our young service users the other day. Unusual to only see 1 swan. We didnt see the heron though.

The best, and never beaten. Such fond memories of the spinning eggs ride, and the 'spindryer' where the floor dropped out, and everyone was pinned to the spinning wall, with no safety straps. Lethal really haha!

Spent many an hour there. My parents lived on Timbertree estate. Does anyone remember the ‘sons of rest’ building which I think burnt down. I left the area in 1986 but still occasionally visit. Thanks for posting.

There was a golf course there too. Long gone I guess? Many school summer holidays kicking a ball about. Plus two bowling greens where we were occasionally allowed to play. Simple times.

Thank you for this video. The park and house was my childhood in a nutshell. I was there at least 4 days a week.
The house was boarded up dilapidated after fire in the 80's, but kids still used to get in. I was too scared to try it after all the haunted stories.
Anyone remember the big old suspended bell on a wooden frame you could ring? I reckon that was used later to call workers in from across the grounds back in the day. It was so loud!
It was known as the monks bell, and there may be truth in that. Look up the story about the monk and his forbidden lover who apparently died in one of the underground tunnels from the house that went way beyond the pools...
I never used the public outdoor swimming pool. That was quite an experience for those who braved it!
Thank you for the great video. I've seen another of yours, and it's so refreshing to see a younger person have such genuine interest in local history.

@@drewsoutdooradventures01 You're welcome! And thank you again too :-)
I found a bit of info on 'Former Slopes' online.
      It says:
      'Cradley Heath Haden Hill'
"Believed to have been part of a leisure centre development that was established in 1976, the slope is described as “short lived” in historical accounts, it is listed as still in existence in a directory published in 1987.
It is reported to have been a Dendix slope and open year round"
      Shame there's no pics.
I tried the ski slope in Plymouth and couldn't stand up 😄

I remember the house post fire - I think the fire was considered to be deliberately started but I may be wrong. When derelict, we had a school trip and went inside - it was very unsafe and certainly wouldn’t be allowed today.

    • @drewsoutdooradventures01
      @drewsoutdooradventures01  ปีที่แล้ว

That's crazy tbh see most derelict places today unlike old days are gates off with cameras or secure . I bet you could have walked around the round oak steel works when that become derelict. Today alot has changed to stop people

@@drewsoutdooradventures01 It was the site of my former high school, newly built, which for some reason they demolished? School and teachers were not great so maybe that is a factor but still weird for a pretty much new build complex to be left to rot and eventually tore down to make way for house builders.
