Hi, Drew , after recently finding your channel and going through past vids. again you've chosen one of our old playgrounds , we'd scive off school and go there , sometimes camp out there at night and walk through on our way to Clent , now unfortunately you're more likely to get the drinkers up there on a night who leave cans all over the place , we definitely never saw any spooks as for the writing on the monument it was only put there in recent years , probably by youngsters with nothing better to do , when I was a kid I grew up with the story of ''Bella in th wyche elm'' because the young lads who found her came from our area . No one new her real name , it was a nick name given by media at the time , there's even been tv programs about the mystery , be careful you do get some wierdos up there , day and night

Nice video, thanks for sharing. The reserve looks as if it is developing well. The board is a bit misleading when it says the quarry provided the material for the Dam at the Elan Valley as the original dams were built before the opening in 1904. It should really say the second phase started in 1946. All the best, Peter.

My dad was a Walsall firefighter and tells me of a young girl who drown in the larger pool around 45 years ago. Her and some friends were swinging from a tree and unfortunately she died. I think that tree may have been cut down and you can see the stump today.

Around 1974, the old man took my brothers and me through the tunnel. It is a good memory; I was 8 years old.

Great video Drew 👍 There were two flights of locks at Smethwick, if you look at the bridge at the bottom lock there are two arches side by side, at the top lock next to the toll house you can see the coping stones of the lock chamber that was filled in, in amongst the grass. The island iron buffers are still there at the entrance to the lock. Keep up the good work 😉
