    The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou is starting to get recognition as somewhat of a eccentric masterpiece, and one day I believe this will go down as Murray's greatest performance, even more so than in LIT.

      I don't know.. lost in translation is pretty deep. They're both amazing and so under rated.

      It's a very entertaining and underrated movie.
      But, without a doubt, it will never be seen as Murray's best movie/character. At least I hope not.

      alexxxandder Yes and No. The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou is Wes Anderson and Bill Murray…Not only one of them. There is a clear and wide bridge between the Wes and Murray brigade.
      This movie is a-fucking great film!!!

    His character in "The Razor's Edge" was very moving to me personally. In fact, I don't think I'll ever forget it, and it's probably my personal #1 Bill Murray Character, next to the Lost in Translation and Rushmore.

    For me, Groundhog day is the best movie ever made. The story, the message plus Bill's and Andie's performance and chemistry... WOW, it all came together 25 years ago, hats off and respect to all who made that movie. Oh yeah, and THANKS :-)

    Razor's Edge is definitely one of my favorite Bill Murray roles, he is a character in a sad sullen position, but his subtle presence makes what could be an insufferable and depressing movie into an amazing film.

    I just saw What About Bob? for the first time in 25 years when it was released, and the humor still holds up. Quick Change is a very underrated film. St. Vincent is very good. Funny thing is, his role in "Caddyshack" was supposed to be played by a Vietnam war vet, but the war vet suffered from such bad PTSD that he couldn't remember his lines, so Harold Ramis got Bill in to play Carl Spackler instead. Bill got his part filmed within six days, and with the exception of one line spoken to Danny Noonan, every line of his was ad-libbed.

    • @willestus9120

      Holly Brooke which line? Not being anal or tying to put you off... I think comedians or actors who play comedic roles almost exclusively are truly tallented geniuses, I'd go so far as to say a "Sage" of modern Life. To see humor in all facets of life is to be a forward thinker.

    um... yeah, i really gotta vent on this one. i know that Dr. Venkman is far and away the most *iconic,* but his role in *_Lost in Translation...._* it's almost peerless in modern film. that moment when he's handed his jacket by Johanson, and he glumly re-assumes his old life, returning his gaze to the fawning staff at the hotel is one of the saddest, most REAL acting moments i've seen. he really, REALLY deserved that fucking oscar tm

    • @michaelmier9512
      @michaelmier9512 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      In many ways, it IS a better movie than Johnny Depp's enactment of Gonzo in FEAR & LOATHING IN LAS VEGAS. For one, we get to see Bill Murray exercise his comedic chops before Caddyshack & Stripes hit theaters. We get to see Bill semi-channel Dr. Hunter S. Thompson by being himself (Bill can't help being Bill) while always having a drink in his hand, by discharging a fire extinguisher aboard a filled airplane (thank Janus it was still waiting to taxi) & by threatening a ringing telephone with a loaded revolver. Also, we get to see a very emotional Rene Auberjonois on LSD. And we get to experience Peter Boyle at his craziest as he assaults a prosecutor in court, hides out from the government & smuggles weapons south of the border. WHERE THE BUFFALO ROAM is my favorite Bill Murray vehicle for these & a few other very good reasons. Who DOESN'T love Bill Murray when he's being ridiculously antisocial?!

    • @l8on99
      @l8on99 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jay Nicks I love him in the movie about the movie being made, Living in Oblivion, it was a flop but is so good. And no simone robson Buscemi has great roles as a passive character(kinda) most of the time, crazy still but quite laid back. Also his best friend is Tarrantino so that is how he got many of his early roles to be honest. As the bellhop in Barton Fink I always confuse it with Four Rooms too and see him in the role every time because that role was actually written for Buscemi and with only him in mind(little known fact and wonder why he didn't do it?) . Also watch the movie Ghost World(2001), he does a great performance in that and it is very human and touching though the age thing in it is weird/creepy for some but is innocent and accidental. I think he is the most underrated actor in Hollywood and is one of my all time favourites, his performances are just so exciting and riveting.

    Lost in Translation is a masterpiece. Coppola is a subtle sorceress with a keen eagle eye. Life Aquatic is equally impressive where then story itself becomes a dynamic and gravitational character.
