I'm a student learning jazz in Korea. Your performance is always a good resource for me. Thank you. Please understand if there are any weird parts using a translator.
I keep coming back to this because it had once discouraged from even attempting jazz guitar, but with time and multiple viewings this has become one of the greatest jazz guitar improv resources available to me. Thank you very much Mr. Achim.
Greetings from the Philippines, as a young female guitarist 14 years old at the moment moving from blues rock to jazz, your vids are wonderfully well laid out and the chord solo's are just as wonderful. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Hi Ocean, 14 it's a good age to start with jazz guitar, I've started playing jazz guitar at the age of 15 back in 1980, it's been a while. All the best for your playing, best regards from Germany
@@AchimKohl-JazzGuitar Hi Sir Achim, I started music on violin at 3 and 1/2 years old I took lessons but progress was slow, then at the ripe old age of 4 years I stopped violin and started on piano. Piano was easier at least that's the way I remember it. I started acoustic guitar at 7 years old, and electric guitar at age 12, its been fun but it feels like a job to me now with so much to learn. I still play piano along with guitar almost daily. Thank you for the reply.....
I know you don't want to be famous but the truth is that you are between the best of your kind am I'm a also one of your customers because is extraordinary arrangements that you create for us and thanks for helping us
I've watched several of your video lessons and I am really taken with your left hand work. Between the sound of the guitar, your interpretations and articulation the fun belies the technique.... Great Work and thank you! 😎
Thanks Donald, i've studied classical guitar, that's why my left hand is very strong and the movements of my fingers are very exact, it took a lot of time practicing that.
If we were not strapped for $$$$ I'd love to be able to pay you for advancement on jazz guitar.. I enjoy all your lessons and have been watching them for a few years.. thank you for all you do to help those of us who want to learn... All the Things You are is my favorite and would love to have a breakdown of all parts... Thanks Again..
I love the way you play all the things you are Master.it Sounds so beautiful and clean perfectly executed and with heart and soul. I love jazz music 🎶 and when I hear some one like you playing jazz guitar it makes feel so good and Happy! I’m so glad that I found you in you tube. Hope that maybe some day I will be able to play the guitar even a half of the way you play. Tank you so much. Master!!
My video are also for learning the art of jazz guitar playing. If you want to play the transcription it's good for you to see the fingerings of the guitarist. If I'm fooling around in front of the camera during playing, you will see nothing. Anyway, thanks for your comment, all the best
My ears probably deceived me but did you use the bright size life intro during the Chord Solo. Beautiful playing Achim, you're honestly up there with the greats.
Enjoyed listening to your great play on this fine standard, very versatile and variated style, everything is there: single string, block chords, octaves, outstanding performance maestro, keep healthy, jazz greetings Vic
I enjoy your guitars.Thank you very much for your nice lead guitar sounds.Could you tell me recording situation such as guitar amplifire and DAW comp ratio to be yours at mix down that makes very soft to high age. Best regards.
Thanks, I don't use any amp for recording I play directly in my DAW using only comp, reverb and EQ. In the mix down I using a multi band compressor and a limiter. It took me some time to find my sound. I don't think it's working for everybody. Maybe you have a different setup like me: a different interface, computer, guitar, strings, pickups, software . . .
Hi sign Achim I hope you enjoyed the study done on All the things you are, it was not at all easy I really worked a lot but with pleasure, this impovisation I find it wonderful and 'I wanted to ask if he could dedicate a video on how to accompany All the things you are in style or similarly performed in his jam track, obviously with his times, when he wants. Best regards from Italy, Manuel San G.
Hi Manuel, I think I've made some really good comping video lessons, not over "All the thinks you are" but over "Autumn Leaves" and other songs, Here is the playlist: th-cam.com/video/sYOggbb_1t8/w-d-xo.html Best regards from Germany
@@AchimKohl-JazzGuitar thanks for the link... i have already followed many, i really liked the one about all the things you are... i go to a jazz school where i improvised with the chorus that i learned from you, they were all amazed!! but they also told me thay reciting from memory can also be a double edged sword in the sense that if i make a mistake, i lose myself at least for myself because i don't have total control of the instrument yet, in fact it happens to me a few times that i'm doing well but then a certain something you also want that are fast pieces and i can't recover... i lose the thread like when you talk and you lose the thread of the speech!! what can i do to stop it from happening?
The last segment you played was absolutely beautiful... The combination of all parts , intro, choruses , chord melody then the outro was magnificent … Did I see a reflection of a pretty young lady in your E S 137, just under the pick guard ? I'm still working on Improv # 1 … Can hardly wait to get to this one...

Wow great, I really like the way you playing! Can you tell me, how do you construct these wonderful solos? I mean what's the way you thinking when you play? And how did you put together that chord solo? Damn I'd be happy if I could play half as good as you. Greetings from Hungary!
Hi Adrian, I've listen a lot to recordings of Wes Montgomery, he was a master in building solos with single notes, octaves and chord solos. I always try to prepare the structure of the solo before I made a video, the solo should be like good movie, all you need is a good storyboard, like in the 1st chorus I play the melody, 2nd chorus melody variations, 3rd chorus some fast runs, 4th chorus octaves, 5th chorus chord solo. I don't like if people getting bored by listening to jazz improvisations ! All the best for your playing . . .

12 - 50
0.10 strings?
Jazz Strings from Dr. Thomastik Bebop 012 - 050, round wound
It sounds like a 0.11. maybe the equalization.
