    I wish i had time for philosophy 🥹 I study pure math and the courses take a lot of my time so i think taking philosophy courses would take away time from my maths 🥹

    My purpose of why I research about learning philosophy is to understand its history, to study about the philosophers and their philosophies, and it's implication into the individual. I bought some books about them but I couldn't grasp most of what's written

    I'm totally geeking out right now because I wanted to go into culinary school to become a chief , but I never understood why I never liked the thought of only being that. Till I thought about philosophy and when I went online to look up how to change my life style it makes sense now. Im trying to study the wrong thing. Litterally was getting goosebumps hearing you speak. Thank you so much for making this :)

      the Truth is found only in the LORD JESUS CHRIST alone, Who died on the cross for the sins of the world and is risen in glory for our justification. repent, turn from your vile sins, and believe in the Gospel.

    Nice video Isabella!
    Hey, can you make a video talking about social sciences?
    My main goal has always been to dedicate my life, to the movements and changes I´d like to see in my not so developed country: Mexico.
    I like most social sciences, but think that philosophy gives you more thinking/mental tools for your professional and personal life. For me, it's like studying mathematics, which by doing lots of proofs and being so abstract, will give you awesome thinking skills; rather than doing engineering, which in most cases, will evade proofs and being too abstract.
    Thanks in advance!

    I chose political science. However. I'm interested in philosophy. Philosophy is needed for all majors. I want to create good world.

    Damn, I should've watched this video before applying for philosophy, I have almost no interest in analytical philosophy (besides a little philosophy of science), way more interested in the implications of philosophy than raw theory, I don't read much but don't have problems writting. Now I honestly don't know if I should switch majors but I guess only time will tell.

    my university has a philosophy department that ranks tied with harvard...so I'm thinking about philosophy since it's something I'm actually passionate about and not just something I feel I "need" to do. jobs obviously are worrying but I might do a minor in some sort of business management....soooo much to think about lol

  • @mohammedidriss9131
    @mohammedidriss9131 ปีที่แล้ว

    Well , I would to thank you for attempting to present certain guidelines for studying philosophy in the UK . However , I definitely do not agree on the third guideline which is the nessesity of one being completely open minded for changing his or her views about mere existence . The reason is that , perhaps that one is studying philosophy in order to utilise it to serve his belief or to formulate a logical argument utilising the three laws of logic Aristotle proposed ( you are knowledgeable about this topic , hence you know that logic is a branch of philosophy ) .

    I've been accepted to study Law however I'm thinking of changing to Philosophy. I worry about job prospects though. I don't want to be a lawyer, but I see myself working with charities/medical ethics centers etc, human rights sort of stuff. Any advice?

    • @IsabellaBoyne
      @IsabellaBoyne  3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I would say that if you don't want to be a lawyer, then don't bother studying Law unless you're very very interested in it. Philosophy students (especially from top universities) do still have good job prospects - especially if you get work experience at uni! I definitely think experience and your grades are more important than what you study. Hope this helps!

    One of the strangest things I’ve noticed about people who study philosophy is that no matter where they are from or whT accent they have, they all pronounce their “t”s way more than other people? Am I crazy or has anyone else ever noticed this? And forgive me if this is super random.

    I wasn't sure between history or philosophy but you won't get history if you don't get history of philosophy, why your country exists. There are big questions. No it's a terrible major where people think you are reading for anecdotes and have the wrong idea on why you took it, and will probably never get why.

    university is a business... profs and dept are going to lie. Their funding and pay checks depend on it. That's how academia works.
