  • Troubleshooting - Harman Kardon GO+PLAY don't work - repair and rework
    ============================================================
    - With portable Bluetooth (BT) speakers, the battery is an extremely important factor. It does not affect the sound quality but it greatly affects our experience.
    - When the battery is low, some speakers sound smaller than normal and can not be loud to the road despite having a direct power plug. For example, portable speakers from B&O, Sony, Denon, ... This is not an error, but the manufacturer intended to do so to protect the battery of the speaker.
    - And about the battery problem, broken battery of the speaker. The phenomenon that you only use a while is the power down or push the power button or plug the power directly without going up, most of which is due to the battery failure.

    Useful video thank you. My go+play charges ok but the battery doesn't last long because I used it always on AC. We shoud put a switch to disconnect the battery when using it only on AC because clearly Harman kardon didn't think of the "always under charge" problem. It's not okay to have it always at 100%

      Absolutely agree , but this is the best option for HK to make customers buy a new device. I wrote an email which is the best way to extend to battery life since I use it most of the time on a daily bases at home. the answered, „keep at AC at all times“

    I bought new batteries and replaced it with a new one. After that upon connecting ac power, it is just blinking 1 LED. Then, when I remove the power, the whole speaker shuts down too. Do I need to power the new batteries before I connect it or is there a different problem that I am encountering?

    I changed the battery on my HK Go Play to the same spec battery. Tested battery voltage before installing it. Now the charge light comes on when you plug in the AC adapter to show it’s charging but it doesn’t ever go past the first blinking light. The speaker also refuses to run off battery power. When you switch off AC adapter it dies. Tried a second battery and same thing. Any suggestions?

      After further troubleshooting it is clear that the battery is not powering the board. I test the voltage on the battery and it’s fine but when connected to the board there is no voltage. Must be a fault on the board.

    I had a similar problem, even connected to the plug no light indicator, I decided to disassemble it and check the battery, it wasn't show any voltage so I decide to charge it with a 5v wall charger and then it suddenly turned on but a blinking red light appeared, and even if it's connected to the original charger it doesn't charge, the speaker works a short period of time and then turns off, the Bluetooth connection works well, I don't know if waste money in a new battery of the problem maybe is somewhere else. at which voltage speaker (or bms) shuts down? if its made for lipo battery, it should cut off around 3.5v per cell, when it shows one red light blinking.
    now when i put li-lion battery, will it still shut down at 3.5v? because that is only at half capacity of li-lion... it should go down to 2.8-3.0v... so wasted capacity if li-lion is used, and shut down at 3.5v

    I have the same problem. I replaced the battery and it was fine for a bit, but the battery won't charge. Eventually the new battery died too and I could not power on unless I jump the battery like in the video. After checking the schematic and from what another user said, I was able to find voltage going to the source on U32, but no voltage on the drain. Also no voltage on L20. Can I safely assume the issue is with U32?

I pulled U32 off the board and I'm getting 0V on the drain when testing as diode, no matter if the mosfet is on/off (I don't think it switches on).
