    I just donated for the first time and 'went funny' didn't pass out, but felt really hot and like I was hearing the nurs through a tunnel. Apparently MORE MEN pass out from donating than women, and the reason I 'went funny' was the drop in adrenaline when the process was over. Everyone was great and I think this is something everyone should consider doing. x

    Thanks for the info, make sense because a couple weeks back i passed out again before i was about to donate blood. It happend right after i seen a nurse carrying a big pouch of blood someone else had just donated. Thats when i started thinking to my self "Damn, that's a ton of blood they are going to take out of me".

    hahaha this is funny because I have the same thing too whenever I have to get a shot or have blood drawn xp it sucks but in the end I always look back at myself and laugh. The fact that drops the camera is fantastic haha I feel his pain doe

    I'm 16 and I donated blood for the first time it was a really awesome experience knowing I can save 3 life's. when I went in I was so scared but the guy that took care of me was really cool and he said that it usually takes anywhere from 15-20 minutes to finish donating but it only took me like 8 and I didn't get light headed or dizzy. It was a really good 1st experience and I might become a regular donor :D

    *jesus christ all that loud ass crying & all those people being so loud would be enough to get you anxious & pass out!* *its usually not the pain of the needle, its your surroundings & process of it all.*

    I had a nurse who was a trainee and he literally went in about 5 to 7 times trying to get my vein. I literally almost passed out but thankfully didn't. They had me come back and right when I got back the lady just got me on the first go. Didn't feel a thing surprisingly. Then again that was a long time ago. I was like 13 or younger.

    Sorry, I still can't see that p.o.v. Me & my sis helped a homeless man to hospital once (after people just walked over him) and he was such a nice man and he had a beautiful heart.
    The things I've seen people do to help one another are nothing short of beautiful and amazing. :-) I really wish I could make you see it but...
    But if you don't agree to give blodd nobody has stolen anything from you.
    Just dont give it and be happy with your decision.
    Have a good one all the same.,

    WE HAVE A CODE ONE! Seriously, these people have no idea what the hell they are doing. Its called a Vasovagal response, we have people do this in our office all the time. Rule of thumb, the bigger they are the harder they fall.

    You are right: we faint when blood pressure drops -and some people do faint when giving blood - triggered by fear!
    However: heart beating faster actually increases blood pressure. So, usually when feared we are even less likely to faint! - it feels like we'll faint, because we feel dizzy and other sensations of panic. Paradox is that when giving blood -and being feared- some people's BP suddenly drops!
    Check out my profile and video about anxiety and fear...or go to my blog.

    So, I'm assuming there is a difference between vasovagel response and actually passing out from donation. I passed out while donating, but the bag was already more than half full, also didn't eat breakfast that morning. The guy in this video passed out after losing like 2 thimbles of blood. lol.

  • @BlaiddDrwg2009
    @BlaiddDrwg2009 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    When giving blood some peoples blood pressure can drop too low, or their heart beats too fast through fear. Same for when they see blood. Scared = heart beats too fast = faint

    True on the fasting part, but its just a vagal response. Im a lab technician and I deal with blood and other specimens everyday, but the day when I had my blood drawn, my own blood landed on my pants and I don't mind having open wounds,but I had a vagal response syncope. Not always just a fear.

  • @klk1900
    @klk1900 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    its just a vasovagal response or (Neurocardiogenicsyncope) this would be a Vasovagal Attack. im a flight medic/nurse RN. its basically a mixture of both genders ive had kids that passed out just seeing the needle. anybody thats squeamish to blood,guts etc. will pass out but its not near enough blood taken to be Hypovolemic shock like people want to think because they think it will make them look weak so they try and say its from blood loss and such. but not the case.

  • @klk1900
    @klk1900 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    yea that happens with some people, there's really no set rule what triggers people. everybody is different. you could have a murderer that dismembered people but yet seeing a needle they would pass out. that's a graphic example but that's really what it comes down too hah everybody has a different trigger a lot of people that had a bad experience at a young age with needles. some don't remember it and the parents just told them, but there body still remembered it. its a weird condition.

    I can't tell for sure because of the camera angle, but it looks like the phlebotomist didn't anchor the vein @ 1:29. Even the 'best' veins can move without anchoring. If you didn't, sorry but that's bad practice.

    Yeah That was not a very calming place. And they should be prepared for this type of thing. I heard the asking for thins to help him as if they did not know that this type of thing happens to people. Very un professional place. I would have walked out as soon as I heard the baby screaming and they never did try to calm it. I hope the needle was clean my friend. That place looks like it sucks balls to hard.

    Besides, if done at a proper health facility with proper screening and educated personnel, the risks aren't as great as you make them out to be.
