Their illustrations about Air Jordans and the Big Mac don't work at all because these items are available almost everywhere. Jordan's are sold in multiple shoe stores and McDonald's are located around the world. These things are available EVERYWHERE!! They are not locked to one location or store for distribution.
I believe Sony announced that they have a significant subset of Playstation customers who only play Call of Duty, NBA2K and/or Madden. Why did they choose Playstation when they don't even play the exclusives? It's because of brand loyalty and marketing. This does not prove that the console and ecosystem are superior. Many people aren't even aware of Game Pass and what it offers because Microsoft has done a poor job of marketing Xbox and Game Pass.
It actually isn't only in gaming where exclusives have to look elsewhere. Many of the streaming services have sold rights to their own production to rival streaming services to increase income. Some of them are struggling in this competitive market. Headline from Forbes in 2023. "Studios Are Once Again Licensing TV And Movies To Rival Netflix"

I think exclusives a good for competition between platforms. But the more platforms there are, the less sense it makes to withhold just from one platform. But in regards to Mario Kart…. It sold over 5 million units in the past 9 months at $60. It’s 11 years old
The PS5 Pro is hands down the best advertisement for PC gaming the world has even seen. All these PS5 Pro purchasera have achieved is guaranteeing themselves a 2 console cycle every single generation. The PS4 Pro was designed specifically to adopt 4K and nothing else. Pro consoles have never been the norm and Playstation fanboys have just confirmed they're happy to pay $1200 A GENERATION for hardware by purchasing an unnecessary console that should never have existed. Nobody should be having to pay $700 for hardware accelerated upscaling considering PC and Xbox users get the same tech for free. That's all PSSR is. A free product (FSR4.0) rebranded and sold for $700.
The conversation is a lie, though. It's hilarious and absurd to say a Big Mac will be at Burger King. It's meant to make you think the comparison is valid. The valid comparison would have been: "Netflix produces Stranger Things and it streams exclusively on Netflix. But Netflix can be accessed on any device known to humanity that has a video screen. And to top it all off, if you don't believe in streaming services, you can buy a Blu-Ray compilation." These things are actually true. Their conversation is intentionally obtuse just because they enjoy gaslighting.
The conversation is literally only relevant to the 25% of the gaming market built on consoles. Just HAVING THE CONVERSATION shows a lack of knowledge of the wider gaming industry. I don't get why people are still trying to make out like Playstation is king of the pond, when there's an ocean just up the road that everyone else is swimming in. Its just.....🤦♂️ For them to even have a point they have to ignore such a huge segment of the space that the point is basically irrelevant. Well, at best 25% relevant 🤷🏻 So if Colin Moriarty is that desperate for Playstation to be the biggest fish in the pond, let him have it. It's barely relevant anyway and he knows it. Playstation have dipped their toes in the ocean by this point and went running back to their pond when they were NOT greeted in a friendly manner (those forced PSN sign ups did not go well).
Kingdom Hearts didn’t do itself a favor when SE decided to lock the spinoffs and side stories to specific devices. Shocker not everyone liked the idea of being baited to buy several devices just to keep up to speed with a story that was getting messy as it went along. Now SE compiled it and brought it everywhere. It improved audience engagement being accessible for every device, and they earned more than just locking it to one place.
Nintendo is very different. Just because Xbox and PlayStation is going the way of SEGA, doesn't man Nintendo will. They're keeping their exclusives and it's not changing anytime soon (if ever). I'll say it again: "The Nintendo console has a reason to exist." As long as Nintendo exist, Exclusivity will exist. it's the main reason their console exist. It's not that hard to understand.

Why would a corporation not be pro-corporation? They trying to sell a product and make money, not give you a good deal and make your life easier. You guys are living in La-La land or something?
Exclusives suck, a game like Sly Copper should have been came to PC instead of rotting on one platform, Sony and PS fanboys don't appreciate that franchise enough.
What makes the Big Mac point even more disingenuous, is that these days, you don't even NEED TO GO INTO MCDONALDS to get it. You just pull up one of the places that lets you order delivery, not even using McDonalds own McDelivery, I might add. Suddenly, the Big Mac ain't even exclusive and you can order from Burger King in the same bloody app too. They can kick rocks with exclusivity. It genuinely makes no sense. Especially when entertainment competes with other forms. It's why the Free to play games are so deadly. No barrier to entry, available across multiple platforms that have a screen. That's the future for games, to be on any screen. Microsoft knows it and is building towards it. Sony...has to catch up.
