So surprised by a second spoopy video, twice the simon and tom could it really be true. Love the black and white photos of you guys and was that box at 25:36 clickable.
I love this game. I LOVE THIS PLAYTHROUGH! So mad at myself that I marked the first two episodes as 'Watch Later' and just got around to it. MORE PLEASE!
I'm sure someone has already said this but they did have helicopters in 1949 so theoretically that is a helipad, as long as the helicopters around then were small enough.
Love it already! Manages to combine elements from both 'Mountains of Madness' and 'From Beyond' (perhaps a few others I missed), and it pays respect to the original Lovecraft stories without going overboard. Can't wait to see what else the game has in store.
Ooh, I appreciate the zooming in on the text they're reading, that's quite helpful! Also, those pictures are amazing, haha, I actually thought the one at 18:06 was in the game, and it freaked me out for a quick second, haha
if it's the first time testing this mixture, surely it'd only be tested on a single person rather than a whole group, just to see if it's particularly volatile (5:35)
The conventional helicopter was invented in 1927 but was rarely used until the Sikorsky R-4 began mass production in 1944 for the US Air Force. By 1947, helicopters were being used commercially in America.
1949- America, about a decade after the Great Depression, Post war which means high taxes and a recovering economy, and Cold War territory. It was probably pretty tense. Especially with the nuclear fear mongering.
Actually, America came out on top in more ways than one in the after effects of WW2. The economy was booming, businesses were growing, and people were getting better jobs, with better pay and benefits. And last but not least, politics seemed to have become a lot less volatile, with very few polarizing issues until the sixties. The Cold War was happening, but it wasn't as scary of a boogeyman yet, and the Korean War had yet to start. Though, admittedly, it wasn't a perfect time for Americans, especially farmers, who were finding it difficult to compete with the large businesses popping up.
In 1949 after the war in the USA rationing was there but went away fairly quickly at least in most of the southern US as my great grandfather tells it, but that my have been mostly due to the fact that a lot of farming was still being done in the south.
Brooke Barb agreed, the faint red wavelength is always the same, should've tried to match. I'm surprised they didn't get it, but it's also possibly unwise to mess with it not knowing WTF it will do once open, haha. :x
"AMERICA WAS VERY CONCERNED WITH FOOD SUPPLY AFTER WW2 WHICH LED TO THE GENETIC MODIFICATION OF WHEAT AND OTHER CROPS AND THE FACTORY FARMING THAT WE KNOW TODAY" - A Millennial
Frank Gill-Man, the Antarctic explorer and weird scientist, is of course a relative of the particle physicist, Nobel laureate, and frightening aquatic humanoid Murray Gill-Man.
Actually, I am a millennial fascinated in wars and their results. 1949- A time was an oncoming of containment of communism, and countries are still either licking their wounds, or being welcomedinto the world as a seperate country. The destabiliztion of the middle east was also rising, with the formation of Israel as a blemish to the islamic states that surrounded them. Former colonies of Britian and other imperialistic nations were finding their stability without a stronger nation looking over their shoulder. The UN, NATO, and the Warsaw pact were all formed, and the Germans were running across the border towards capitalist freedom. Korea is heating up and appears to have split, with the communists being hostile. Vietnam has not peaked much interest, and China is mopping up a civil war, pushing democrats into isolation on Taiwan, The tiny Japanese island handed over to China. This is also the Baby Boom beginning. Many spouses and girlfriends were left without their loved ones for years, leading them to have a good time to reward their heroic return. I now realise i could have stopped with "Actually, i am that millenial that knows what happened in 1949." Did i forget to mention the soviets begin work on an actual super soldier? Or was it all a conspiracy? Either way, they did terrible experiments throughout the years, bur this year was one of the beginning... If any of this is wrong, criticize me. This is my supposed knowledge of the 1949 year. This took me the whole fucking video, too. I should have taken the criticism and watched it through. Take 2, coming up! Oh yeah. This was a more "fill in the gaps" moment. Oh well. If you read all this, cheers. You read a paragraph of rubbish that might not be completely wrong. Until next time, this was Cinimod, and have a good time!
Ive never played this game before but on that beeping device I think you were supposed to match the green frequency with the red frequency in the background by adjusting the knobs with the same speed and the same width. I also don't think theres going to be anything in the game that tells you to do it. It was just something you were supposed to figure out. So no spoilers lol
You should try out "Middle of Nowhere", it's another Lovecraftian horror, but is really unique in the sense of making you wonder of your own sanity, or at least your character's.
1) I don't really know much about what millennials know, but we spend two years on American history. 1949 was quite good for America. We were out of the Great Depression and our war-time production was turned to consumer goods and our economy was on the rise. The 1950s is famous for its innovations and all around greatness, if you ignore the racism. 2) Why do I feel the need to do numbered comments, recently? I've done a lot of them.
So i'm rewatching and was all 'why did i not watch this' and about half way through i remembered i was in a bad mood and switched off because they kept leaving doors open...
Oh God... I'm watching this again and getting just as frustrated as the first time I watched it. THERE'S SOMETHING ON THAT SHELF IN THE LITTLE SHITTY ROOM!!! LOOK AT THE THING!!! WHAT IS THE THING!!! I CAN'T REMEMBER IF THEY GO BACK TO THE THING!!! lOOK AT THE THING!!! RRRRRRARARARAAAGGGHH!!!!
that synchronising wave puzzle.... fuuuuck my dick did they just not see the red waves they had to sync it up to? also the first instance of that shadowy dude fucking spooked me so hard. you have my infinite gratitude for playing this game so i don't have to
well Antarctica wasn't always at the south pole at there are like flash frozen ferns i believe could be wrong and its focalized ferns or something i cant remember
1949 was when the Cold War started ramping up, and modern suburban culture was just invented. Look at pre-war fallout and that’s kind of what was going on minus the robots and the resource wars
Man, a lot of the people back then looked like Tom and Simon.
I look like Simon now as he did then
Cona-Cona-Cona-Cona-Cona-Conariuuuuuuuuuum
perfect
Nice one.
You come and go, you come and go
Yesssss
More Tom & Simon! My new favorite Yogs group, they are.
I want more of this so badly, that I think I'll probably just end up buying the game :p
Props whoever did the art for this episode. Those photo edits were great. :D
5:15 I love this picture with Simon's face on it, his neck is like a foot and a half long.
Those pictures. My god you guys are brilliant.
I think that 15:34 is the only time I've ever seen Tom develop immunity to a jump scare. Level up for Tomask!
It's time to get...insangory?
I think the same way..
I saw a switch and I flicked it!
Tom and Simon: Spiritual Successor to Fright Night
Man I would love to see Tom and Simon play the Penumbra games. Please.
The puzzle is self-evident! Match the green lines you control to the red lines you don't control! Aughhhhh
In other news, loved the video :D
"More like duct-TAKE!" Hahaha, Simon was having none of that XD XD
the editing on this is great, aswell as the professor tom and simon pictures, brilliant
Spooky Simon and Terrible Tom, my favorite part of this channel.

I was thinking about The Thing before Simon said and thought how awesome a new game would be in a similar style.
I'm sure someone has already said this but they did have helicopters in 1949 so theoretically that is a helipad, as long as the helicopters around then were small enough.
Man, the Tom/Simon paintings are such a nice touch. Didn't need to be there, but it really added to the playthough. Well done!
Tom and Simon not doing the waveform puzzle made me so salty
6 years later and I think we should give Tom’s “he’s from NEW England” joke some credit
thanks for the wonderful call of cthulhu character portraits, lol

Ideally, but scientists kinda sucked at thinking of stuff like that until maybe the last 20-30 years.
Booming 40's!!!! LITERALLY!
Love me some Lovecraft! And Simon and Tom make a good team to investigate the spookums!
Tom: "More like duct TAKE!" *points*....
Simon: *chair squeaks*
21:39 Tom looks like a trustworthy old chimney sweep.
this already becoming one of my favorite games
Love me some Lovecraft! Can't wait for the next episode.
Me in the midst of a Canadian snowstorm: Tom close the fucking door!
Dear Editor, you are amazing. P.S. it might be good to add something to the video title mentioning Simon.
Tom is the editor
Tom’s the editor
Isn't it Josh?
wow, such production value. Wrt the pictures that is
Everyone else: Up-OOO-out
Tom: Oo-POO-out
Those pictures had me laughing so hard.

magnifiscent editing :D
I think you have to get the waves to be in sync with that blinking red light. But I might be dumb.
The Bell 47 would be available in 49. One of the earliest commercial helicopters.
Something worse than a snowstorm? My mind went straight to thundersnow....
The simon photo.... blow me! So funny
1949- America, about a decade after the Great Depression, Post war which means high taxes and a recovering economy, and Cold War territory. It was probably pretty tense. Especially with the nuclear fear mongering.
DEAR TOM. THE 1940'S IN AMERICA SUCKED! YOUR WRONG AN STUFF!
Dude did you even watch the video, he said it sucked. I was just putting concrete evidence that yeah, it was.
GreenSharder that was the joke...
GreenSharder probably

No more Sylvio 2? I was really enjoying that series :-(
Keep your eyes peeled on Sunday ;)
Ok, thank you!
Well did you see last episode
yea, that was... that was something. It was still awesome to watch tho because Tom and Simon where in it
In 1949 after the war in the USA rationing was there but went away fairly quickly at least in most of the southern US as my great grandfather tells it, but that my have been mostly due to the fact that a lot of farming was still being done in the south.
im glad that they read the notes, i hate it when people skip notes that might be important
@12:38 oh look an ark dinosaur pen/ breeding pen xD
12:37
Watching this again in 2021
I don't know if you actually read these but my guess is to match the green's wavelength/speed with the red's to open the head thingy
Brooke Barb agreed, the faint red wavelength is always the same, should've tried to match. I'm surprised they didn't get it, but it's also possibly unwise to mess with it not knowing WTF it will do once open, haha. :x

4:56 Product placement! :O
Hahaha I so thought they are sausages that fell out of that locker
You really need some sort of outro for your videos, Tom. I get so into it and then suddenly it just ends.
• Inky It’s better for his stats if people watch videos till the end, and people tend to skip outros. So it makes sense to not have one.
He used to have a really short one but I'm not sure what happened to it
Parker Murphy That’s what she said
Browncoatlowe .......really? Come on now that wasn’t even good enough for a “that’s what she said” joke
Everything is good enough for a 'that's what she said' joke XD
Poor Danforth.
Is the thumbnail meant to resemble tom or am I going mad?
Well that's what happens when you comment before the video
You mean the weird monster thing or the picture?
The scariest parts are the pictures
You should try out "Middle of Nowhere", it's another Lovecraftian horror, but is really unique in the sense of making you wonder of your own sanity, or at least your character's.
Is the box the same one as in The Whispers in the Darkness by H.P. Lovecraft?
