Horowitz practically didn't play Bach's music but his Scarlatti definitely compansated for it. Excellent interpretation of these sonatas. The tension (electricity) he creates is, without doubt, unique. And the way his fingers slide and dance on the keyboard is so natural. He really brings out the Iberian spirit of Scarlatti's compositions as if he himself had Spanish blood. A fiesta on the keyboard. Bravo Maestro!!!
This is so " beautiful". Thank you Vladimir for such masterful performance we can all remember. And thank you " Domenico Scarlatti" for composing such inspiring composition from so long ago. You must have done something right in your life in the 1700's.... such that those of us 300 yrs later can touch heaven with you music.
I love the little mistakes and slip-ups -- so real and spontaneous and human -- and always in tempo and always driving the musical arc toward a perfect ending.
A mastery of touch. I've always given the highest marks to Glenn Gould for his intimate relationship to the keys but watching this reminds me of Horowitz' control.
I probably own 150 scarlatti cd's and have heard these sonatas, counting duplicate times, 1000 times, from landowska to kirkpatrick to weissenberg to sgrizzi to ross to pletnev. Most of the cd's are harpsichord with piano, harp, guitar thrown in. BUT. horowitz on the piano is hands down my favorite for expression. the most common detraction in a recording, imho, counter-intuitively, is that the performer plays too fast! given the paucity of instructions, one can argue there is no "too fast" but the faster one plays, the more difficult it is to play expressively and no one plays as expressively as horowitz. (likewise, his recording of schumann's kinderszenen (on youtube) is tear-jerking)
Great interpretation! The perfect harmony of structure and emotion, that is required for Scarlatti. (A Pity.: Seldom "heard" such an awful audience! Get some bonbons!)
@@labienus9968 No effect, and certainly no sadness, given that I have a list of my own of the twenty greatest pianists of all time and it does not include either Horowitz or Cortot, for example.

simply marvellous, singing and virtuous at the same time. One forgets time and space listening to this, to him

Único e inigualable Horowitz, la maestría y el arte en su máximo esplendor.
Wonderful. No throwing head and arms around!! Such a superb lightness of touch.
Non-pareil.

VERY nice! - Sweet touch Maestro!
Different side to the maestro. I struggled most of the early movements but he came through in the end. Priceless stuff.

simplement sublime ...
I am so jealous. He breaks all the "rules" and sounds wonderful, magnificaent, magical ...
What rules?made by who?
@@thepianocornertpc Perhaps you did not notice that I enclosed the word "rules"in quotation marks?
@@tomrose2086 I did notice. My sarcasm escaped you?
I am sorry to say that it did ... as it often does in on-line exchanges, the way it never would in real life @@thepianocornertpc
@@tomrose2086 don't worry.Waiting for you to play and record first and third movement of Haydn Sonata In F Major.:-)
Bravo!!!!
