raine: "tomorrow may be our last battle" you, the player: "naw, we gotta go back to fighting hundreds and hundreds of battles outside my dad's house. Need enough grade for those sick new game plus options" raine: "... what?"
I don't really ship Raine with Lloyd and never took this scene as romantic. Rather, it's showing that being around Lloyd has helped Raine look at the world in a new, less cynical way. But it's easy to see why others might interpret it as such. Regardless, it's very sweet. Symphonia has a lot of great moments like this.
That's because it's not a shipping scene, it's exactly as you described it. Everyone has really nasty minds, I never saw it as such either, when I was growing up.
@@YowLife I wish. There's another Flanoir scene in the second game, if Emil guesses that Raine is the one who accompanied Lloyd on his journey to destroy Expheres, you get a scene that implies they are dating...I'll never understand this ship.
This would be my favourite pairing in ToS. It's different yet feels so wholesome. It's also the first footage I've seen of the HD Remaster. It looks better than I expected..
Raine x Lloyd has been my OTP since I was a little kid back in 2005ish. I'm so happy just seeing them, I love them so much. to people who like this: you're not alone!!
Raine was always the hardest one to get enough affection for so automatically she became my favourite lol, it's a rare older-female/younger-male coupling that actually has decent chemistry and doesn't just feel predatory. I think it helps that her brother is his best friend. Although my personal favourite is Lloyd and Sheena
These Flanoir scenes are sweet but also depressingly funny how all of them are bearing their hearts out and Lloyd's always beyond oblivious. Even Raine describing just the snowflakes has him confused
Tales Stuff Now that I'm more mature than I was since I played (in 2004 lol), I actually really love the way Raine and Lloyd would work as a couple. Mostly because Lloyd matures as the story continues and Raine's character type is often shafted in stories (the intellectual mature female character always gets put on the back burner for either the basic love interest (Collete) or the sexually mature love interest (Sheena)). Arguably Raine would also be potentially sexually mature (albeit reserved in her outfit), I'm referring to the outfit/character archetype (the teenage hot chick). Raine is more of a career woman, but also has a heart. Also the way she expresses that she likes him is brilliant and well written and definitely plays on the characters strengths and weaknesses very well. Lloyd is often dense and focused on his goals and objectives (and certainly wouldn't notice the often perceived motherly/professor falling in love with him), while Raine is typically over thinking, analyzing, and comparing things. Or speaking in a way that the others don't understand right away.
@@liquidladdy Be nice, that's a real-life Lloyd you're teasing. And here I thought the character's obliviousness was exaggerated lol. Or it's possible he's just underage which is kinda fucking cute. Alright sweetheart, it's time we had that talk. You see when an adult woman starts struggling with affection for her younger protege, she tends to prefer testing the waters to see if he'd pick up on her unquenchable lust so she'd feel less guilty by having him make the first move and let him take the initiative. Pay attention to her reference to him as her 'heat source.' Ah, I can imagine you're still confused. Well, a direct translation of that metaphor would be "the fire in her loins." Does that make any sense? No? She wants to be the scabbard to his sword. Do you see, now? That's the metaphor she shoulda used, it's the language he understands.
Adam Clark Yeah, in this one she does. You can basically get almost all the main characters to fall for Lloyd if you raise their affection stats, or that's what I read in a walkthrough of the game.

"Although my heat source hasn't realized it at all." GG no re
Mission failed, we'll get em next time
She can't be talking about Lloyd since she's like so much older than him.
Maybe she's referring to Regal?

Based on Lloyd's reaction to that statement, I feel like he did pick up on the implication of what she was saying.

Raine is a motherly figure for sure, maybe Lloyd's naivety is justified here :p
Kicking the shit out of Lloyd at the beginning for sneaking into that temple definitely pegged her as a maternal figure
Raine: *down to fuck*
Lloyd: *Oblivious as fuck*

vote Raine for Waifu
Heat source
My couple
You are my love ❤
Straight Shota time
Raine is my favourite.
Oh no Lloyd's knowledge has gone wakko
I don't really see this as romantic, honestly. This ship does exist, sure, but I just can't see it. That being said, I love these 2.
As a kid I used to ship Lloyd and Colette, but now I ship Lloyd and Raine instead.
Yeah, that's definitely a perspective shift when you get older.

"It depends on humidity"... Thay was... A sexual thing?
I dunno about sexual, but intimate definitely. She clearly refers to him as her heat source. Don't be a Lloyd, you know what she's hinting at
Is there a Raine Heimdall scene? I never pursued Raine during my time playing through the game.
D. Stash Should be one for everybody.

Get whatever character's affection up, depending who you want.
Lloyd will get a top 3 to pick here.

Adam Clark Yeah, lol. Lloyd is a "popular" character, huh? XD
Lol yeah.
I always saw it as her changing her thoughts because of how inspiring he's been to her. Didn't see it as romantic at all.
