I like it, i need the same setup, im currently mounted on the chimney but almost at the point where i don't want to get on the roof anymore. This is the solution, thanks for sharing your design.

I like the idea of 4x4 post pressure treated .i live on the east coast lots of high winds .so was always nervous of putting up a tv tower we have all seen what high winds do to tv towers . Your video is interesting for sure

I think I missed how tall it is. Also does the worm gear in the winch hold up after a few times up and down? I had one break when raising it. Mine is all metal though. Probably heavier. Yes. Do a vid raising, lowering, and show guy wires? Or none? Thanks.

Man, I was worried I'd be the only one with a, ahem, "creatively engineered" wooden mast. Planning on putting together a mast for my 2M ground plane anyenna that I can put up and take down (no HOA, just a _wife_ owner's association, if you catch my drift). Mine has to pack away completely, but I think that'll be a good feature, as I can always toss it in the car and set it up elsewhere.
Current plans include an 8' 2x2 with a couple holes drilled in the bottom to accept two carriage bolts, pinching the 2x2 between a pair of 2x6's (or whatever I have lying around, either way a whole two boards, so another 8 feet) attached to a heavy base of 2x4s. Sure, I'll only be getting up about 20 feet or so, all told, but I'm hoping it'll get me over the local trees enough to hit some repeaters!

Heck no, dude! I'm all about doing things on the cheap but solid. I can't afford an actual tower, and only need about 40 feet of I did have one. So I thought this would be both practical and functional. A win/win to me and my bank account!

Love the mast, how far into the ground is that 4x4? Thank you for sharing the build!

I'll see what I can do. I've got to do some work out there as soon as the weather gets better. I'm going to a 4 element beam.

That’s bad ass I’d love to know how to make one about 50 ft from tip to bottom

I think it'd be pretty easy to do with a larger main pole, bigger than the 4x4 post I'm using. Something like a short telephone pole. And as far as the metal pipe, hell, if you can weld, rigid sprinkler pipe would work.
Sections of that stuff will fit inside of itself.
Larger at the bottom, then to something smaller, then smaller, etc.
Then the only thing to figure out would be the winch, and that's easy enough.
Actually considering doing this very thing with my beams.

Very similar to what I want to do. I'd like to know more about the antenna.
