I think this is actually super super sad, especially how they’ve dressed it up to be this beautiful “modern family” heartwarming story. It’s heartbreaking what happened to them, but a tragic accident doesn’t mean your wedding vows are null and void. What happened to in sickness and in health? Also, so many comments have said he has no mental capacity, so he’s not bothered by the situation. I think it’s so presumptuous to assume we know anything about his mental capacity or what he might be thinking of feeling. There are countless stories of people in years long comas, or people presumed to be “brain dead” by doctors coming back and sharing that they were aware of everything! Read the book “Locked In.” It’s about a young swimmer who was in a coma for at least a year, and presumed to be a vegetable, and she was conscious the entire time!! She came out of it and wrote a whole book about it. I think this story is tragic. I feel for the wife, but i definitely don’t think her decision was admirable.
I’m glad someone else saw it the way I did. Especially with her parading around with a new husband and children knowing that her ex husband has long term memory and remembers marrying her before the accident.
It’s one thing to watch from the outside and say “she should have done this” but we didn’t live through her experience so I don’t think we have a right to judge because it’s just as pompous to assume he knows what is going on and being hurt by it.
@@moviemelody2210 I don’t think it’s pompous, I think it’s ethical. If we can’t know either way, and must choose to act in some way, it’s best to act assuming he’s conscious and be wrong, than as if he’s not conscious and be wrong. In my opinion. If I place myself in his shoes, that’s 100% what I would want. The stakes are too high. And because of his vulnerable state, he deserves protection and consideration over and above the wants and desires of the other adults around him, no matter how hard that is for them to come to terms with.

I feel like situations like this should not be “glorified.” It is kind yes, but it is in my opinion, horrible for Brandon. I wish she just let him be taken cared of by other family members rather than maybe, easing her guilt of giving up on him and choosing her happiness with another man. I am not judging though since this is a tough call, but yeah, it feels like a pity/conscience party so she won’t feel bad for leaving him behind after becoming vegetative. And Brandon still remembers her as his wife, sometimes we assume things like he is happy that she is taking care of him just to fit our narrative that it is the best for him, when he doesn’t have any choice and mental capacity to choose or anything.
Do you not think if he had other family who were ready and able to take care of him that she would let them? She loves Brandon, but he’s essentially gone. He physically isn’t in the house because he’s in a nursing home. But she’s doing her best to not abandon him in sickness (as they probably vowed to do) while still recognising that they cannot have a normal marriage now. I would like to think that Brandon loves the fact that he still gets to be around her even though he can’t enjoy the marriage they thought they’d have. Definitely better than never seeing her again.
@@mmjkkthis scenario is worse! Now he gets to see her with her new family, and the new man who she made babies with because he could no longer perform. This is unimaginable cruelty. Do she close the door when her and her husband have a 'nooner' or do they let him listen in?🙄
He looks so sad in the "family" Christmas photo (taken solely for the purpose of "renewing guardianship) Man, how would SHE feel if the roles were reversed!?! This is sad!!! Poor guy! 😔
His mental capacity is very limited and that’s probably the “sadness” you see. I think she is wonderful for continuing to take care of him. This situation is tricky as well as tragic so we shouldn’t judge
@@moviemelody2210 I've seen and heard of people who have been deemed mentally incapable of understanding anything going on in the world around them, just to find out that they truly understand more than initially thought and believed!
