Figured I'd leave some of my own thoughts in here, considering how much this game meant to me and how obsessive I've been over it ever since I discovered it. I woudn't necessarily say Milk Girl is psychotic, IMO. She was very trauamatized by clearly abusive parents. Given that I've dealt with a quite problematic childhood of similar things, I believe a lot of what is going on with her is very internalized and imagined. She quite clearly, based on what I've researched, is agoraphobic with OCD, C-PTSD, and likely has borderline personality disorder on top of it, due to her very unstable emotions and sense of emptiness and unstable self-image. She also expresses a lot of internalized anger at herself for being treated the way she was, and feels that she is worthless. This is why she sees the world in red to her and figuratively remarks that she is "colorblind". She also says that no one on the internet is "real" because of the lack of any emotional bond she has had with anyone on there, only that she was bullied and harrassed. On the topic of her inner voice, I'd like to add that this voice is always in her head. The meds really don't have anything to do with this voice appearing or not, rather more the meds influence whether this voice is more postive and helpful, or more belittling and cruel to her. This is why being mean to her in the first game gives you the bad ending, with her remarking that she'll, "try something else next time," a nod to her ineffective medication. This is also why the mom asks her if her new medicine helped. She does deep down know the truth of everything, which is why when you try to pry too much when she claims that the environment reflects her mood, she'll say, "that isn't what the instructions said. Apparently, these pills don't work on me either." She made this inner voice into a conversation partner to help cope with her troubles and to feel less alone in her world. I believe her mild psychotic symptoms likely stem from her meds as she does admit that she hears certain melodies in her head while on them, and she also has admitted that one of the prescribed medications she takes is for insomnia. Insomnia can also be to blame for some of what she might see. Assuming she does actually have BPD, this could also be at play here, and would likely explain some of her paranoid thoughts; however, that would also overlap with her extreme anxiety. Anyways, this was a great analysis of what is going on with her. When I discovered Milk, I didn't think it would leave such an impact on my life, but it has. I've been trying harder more often to keep in touch with the few people I still talk to and have tried to better improve my relationship with my sisters by actually talking to them instead of just hiding away in my room like Milk Girl has. I'll forever love what Nikita Kyrukov has done here with Milk and these games will always hold a special place deep in my heart.
These games make me viscerally uncomfortable, and I think that's the best horror games can do nowadays. Scares are cheap, but something which makes you uncomfortable in your own skin is precious. Thank you for making this video.
Ending 3 can split into two places of in time and perspectives, to me. The first being of Milk-chan in the past before she eventually got to the state she is. It's a perspective of someone who's slowly degrading mentally but is put together enough that they don't notice it getting worse or eventually learn to hide it. In this way, it gives the sense that for as much as she's stabilized or gotten on medication to help her, things aren't that much better, just differently bad. The other perspective is that it's a prospective future of how she could turn out. It's the anxiety that even if she's gotten back to "functioning" like a normal person, she's still going to be experiencing a lack of solid self image. Also, Something that helps the idea that these could exist in two points in time is her "getting ready for school." She never graduated, so it could take place when she was going to school or when she's returned to school to finish her education.
I'm about 10 minutes in and I really enjoy the analysis. I don't see a lot about the milk games suggested to me so it's really awesome to see. Apologies if I'm saying something redundant here ahead of time thats already being covered in the rest of the video. Normally I wait until watching everything if I want to comment on someone's video, and I swear if I catch that im repeating something in the video I'll cut this all down so it's not a redundant comment. But, the only thing I want to say is that the milk girl specifically does say "diagnoses" rather than a singular "diagnosis." It's not uncommon for disorders that deal with psychosis to have a few comorbid conditions like anxiety. Her having multiple conditions would make a lot of sense too, especially with her number of meds and having to try a bunch of different ones out - psychosis causes a really tricky time with meds already, and comorbid conditions being treated at the same time often causes an even bigger hassle. So, it's considerably possible for her to have both anxiety and psychosis. I also know when two conditions are comorbid with each other, the symptoms can often merge together - like the "o" guy resulting in her being afraid and confused, then her imagining that visceral, black hole. Though anxious people can be sensitive to certain stimuli, psychosis can certainly amp that up into overdrive and make that discomfort seem too tangible.
I'm unbelievable happy to have come across your channel! I feel like your the kind of youtuber I've been looking for for a while now! Great Video! Can't wait to go through some more of your stuff!
I have loved it by the way. your videos have become the backdrop of my last few days of studying and writing papers. Great stuff and I can't wait to see what you do in the future! Seems you only get better the more you do!@@sonder1028
I don't know who you are, and I would really love to watch this video and give you support on your channel, but I've had this game on my list for a long time and intend to play it completely blind. I actually didn't know this video was going to be about that game, and since you hit my algo for zero reason then this video might get a lot more views soon... Maybe! Thanks for reminding me that I need to play this game though. Also, was the beginning a YanDev chalice reference? W if true
LMFAO I was waiting for someone to mention YanDev. That was a completely accidental meme I realized that I was recreating it the second I started filming 😭 by all means, experience the game for yourself it’s fantastic!
Great Video, I find the games you talk about pretty interesting, some of them i know others are completely new to me. Keep up the great work and Happy Halloween.
Got burnhouse lane on steam sale for 50% off. I just started playing lorelai. I intentionlly save quit it after they locked me with dead lady. Hoping for a nightmare tonight.

Canadian bagged milk but horror :O
Also the amount of tension in the parts that you didn’t talk over was more than I needed alone on a thursday night.
Mwahahahahaaaaaa
Damn, this game is just plain real, thanks for talking about it Sarah!

Oh, this is such a fantastic analysis. The atmosphere is incredible and somehow feels very homey despite being kind of creepy? I like it a lot

Wow, I never put together that the dad may have been trying to harm Milk-chan, that's a really insightful observation

Was the intro intentionally shot like the infamous yandev chalice video
LMFAO it was not intentional but by the time I realized that's what it looked like it was too late to change it :')
@@sonder1028Lmfao fair
@@sonder1028 I thought it worked in the videos favor tbh, it was a nice hook with an instant subversion of expectations ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I thought the intro was a reference to the infamous YandereDev clip and I almost shut off the video
not an intentional reference, but it's there forever now :,)
