I feel like this is how new characters will be for a while in OW2. I think they've realized it's a little better for the overall health of the game to introduce new characters in a slightly underpowered state (Ram and now LW) after the JQ, Soj, and Kiriko releases. While it's fun for the new hero to be OP for a week or so it's much easier to tune up than down IMO. Give him a little while to fall into the meta with a few small changes like they did with Ram and I think he will be really good in certain situations, and in the right hands; which is what a balanced OW looks like to me.
While I agree that this is how they should be released, the devs already came out and said new hero’s won’t be as underwhelming at launch like ram and lw
Lifeweaver was the biggest disaster of all overwatch. New doom also sucked on release, hopefully LW doesn’t get the “buff him to be insane” and then “nerf him worse than before” treatment
From what i’m experiencing in my games (silver), LW makes you work a bit more than other supports but the utility payoff is worth it. There’s still games where I would grip the tank to safety just for them to dive back in and die or they won’t give me los for heals. I’d say the first fight is so much more important because 1 dead teammate sometimes ends up in the enemy getting aggressive and we fall like dominoes.
Sometimes I even go to spawn and pull a tank through the shortest route. There is so many little things he can do that are quality of life. Occasionally you do pull the wrong person because they jumped right in front of your line of sight
People tilting over 1 or 2 bad pull are fine as long as you're not being toxic about it. (yes people you can tilt out of comms or yell inside your mind instead). But if you're throwing games cuz of 1-2 bad pulls you're worse than the lw.
I try to give people the benefit of the doubt that they're trying to help. I assume people are still learning him since he's so new. That's why even when I get pulled from out of cover and dropped in LOS of their bastion I don't get mad the first time But tbh I'd rather you not pull me out if I'm about to trade with a support
Same here. My friends werent a huge fan of him at first but one game on numbani (i believe he does really well there!) changed their mind. The potential to get to places and prevent teammates from wasting precious time trying to run back to highground is actually amazing, on top of the last second yoinks and petals that have managed to blueball the enemy rein TWICE. It was hilarious watching my dva go "weee im high up" while the rein attempts to shatter and misses everyone bc of it. Incredible fun
honestly i think at lower ranks (my partner and i are in plat and diamond and get flamed regularly for playing LW) people are used to being heal botted and feel uncomfy not having that level of security but LW can make such huge levels of change and support while having solid heals, i think it's ridiculous not at least letting people give him a go and swapping if something else is needed!! what a great few games in this video btw, loved it
eskay do you think this character is the first step in Blizz trying to encourage a higher rate of stacking in ranked? more characters with conditional utility abilities that require communication will primarily benefit groups of players that are good at communicating with one another, maybe the next dps or tank has similarly "team-coordination" based abilities. The problem with this is that there are already so many heroes that people can choose that get way more solo value. Unless they are going to significantly rework the rest of the cast, releasing heroes that rely on teamwork are always going to be inferior.

The sheer amount of judgment in ranked on how cooldowns are used is insane. I gotta say if you have a good Lifeweaver on your team it can be clutch because the save especially in lower ranks because a lot of people over extend and end up getting K.I.A
I’ve been pulled into enemy ults, personally I don’t trust the judgement of other players in my ranks and often a bad lifeweaver feels like you’re playing against a 6th enemy
what I love about lifeweaver's pull is that it's so obvious that that player needs to come back to heal but yet they decide to push so then you got lifeweaver pulling them immediately like a child HAHAHA
I think people just like to be in control of their own hero and don't like CC. It's like if you were in voice with the enemy hog, you would probably be flaming them too.
most of the time i feel like my lifeweaver is just single focusing the tank and takes forever to heal me as dps when Im getting damaged. Its not that the character is bad its just that they feel very low impact in my experience especially if they do bad pulls. A lot of the time it feels like if the lifewweaver was just an Ana they youcld have just healed instead of pulling. In gold/plat it feels like I never get any space as tanks wont push a lot and then havign a lifeweaver who wants to use their utility so they pull the tank back during a push cuz the tank dropped belowed 50% can be a disaster.
The issue is, with most of these "saved allies" you could get the exact same result with Kiriko, except you would actually be able to kill enemies too and have a fight-winning ult.
You can't get the "exact same result" though. In most situations, the suzu is arguably better. But, suzu has travel time and aim reliance. Meaning LW has both convenience and a much easier window of opportunity. Also, kiriko suzu isn't going to save a player being dove after the invulnerability. Kiriko also isn't going to be able to force a reposition. Point I'm trying to make is that the immunity they both provide is extremely unique. Obviously, Kiriko is an S tier with her ability being arguably better due to the possibility of affecting several allies, complete CC immunity, and not affecting ally autonomy, but it still shouldn't really he compared to LW who fills a more niche immunity that also provides bonuses Suzu never could like repositioning, longer dmg immunity in many cases, player interaction (like Cass rolling out or any movement ability allowing for furthered mobility), and high convenience.
I could be talking out my ass here so forgive me if I'm wrong. I think he's in the same spot as Mercy, where if I understand correctly she is a character used to enable other players to do better (Damage Boost) and requires a good team to use effectively. But a lot of players don't know how to play WITH Lifeweaver yet. So they consider him bad. But he requires a good team and team play to make him shine.
Its not that hes absolutely awful but theres just no reason to pick him above the other support options, everything he can do can be done better. Also only top players are actually able to get some value off of him, if any
As a dive main not even baps immortality lamp isn't shit compared to the insta pull out ability where you can soften the whole team get pulled out, heal and then finally push their shit in
One bad pull during a game and people are gonna resent you for the rest of the match.

@@TeaTimeTablehe's been buffed massively and now has the highest healing in the game and does a decent amount of damage with throne volley so there's a reason to play him but lifeweaver is good when Ur playing with friends
you are my favourite tictac in the overwatch scene
Dont eat too many tictac at once, they have a lot of sugar
I gotta say if you have a good Lifeweaver on your team it can be clutch because the save especially in lower ranks because a lot of people over extend and end up getting K.I.A
I’ve been pulled into enemy ults, personally I don’t trust the judgement of other players in my ranks and often a bad lifeweaver feels like you’re playing against a 6th enemy
what I love about lifeweaver's pull is that it's so obvious that that player needs to come back to heal but yet they decide to push so then you got lifeweaver pulling them immediately like a child HAHAHA
Imagine a t500 in a plat game offrole as support, ez game changing pulls tbh
these unique interactions are why I play OW
Imagine if you could hook someone as hog, then LW pulls you into your own backline. Like a 3x distance hook
I think people just like to be in control of their own hero and don't like CC. It's like if you were in voice with the enemy hog, you would probably be flaming them too.
No I wouldn't. It's my fault for getting hooked. Just like it's my fault for being is such a position LW has to pull me out.
most of the time i feel like my lifeweaver is just single focusing the tank and takes forever to heal me as dps when Im getting damaged.
That Johnno guy is poggers
the problem with lifeweaver in low rangs is just the pull... it's jsut annoying when they kill you more often than safe you xD
What is that funky ass guitar???? i need that!
He is very good at the game
Hog in the first game was too funny 😂
0:23 it's pain T.T
luv how Lifeweaver is actually meta a month later
Uber BASED and incredibly POG 🎉 GGs & WP
I could be talking out my ass here so forgive me if I'm wrong. I think he's in the same spot as Mercy, where if I understand correctly she is a character used to enable other players to do better (Damage Boost) and requires a good team to use effectively. But a lot of players don't know how to play WITH Lifeweaver yet. So they consider him bad. But he requires a good team and team play to make him shine.
Might actually start playing him
I've had LW save my life more than once this week. I like the hero.
Amazing voice, zero worries
Week 123 of reminding Eskay that she is an amazing content creator and that we appreciate everything that she does for us
The name of the enemy Hammond 💀
I’ve been playing LW solo queue in comp with hardly any comms (for some reason my chat audio plays through my sound bar)
and this was pre buff lifeweaver
Is eskay becoming the lw player not the lucio player 😢
It feels so good to see a pharah kill herself twice
The real tea is that DPS and Tank mains are just bitter that a support can stop them from making stupid decisions.
...but you need to be Eskay to make it work :D
What benefits exactly does having dash on shift give over dash on double jump?
It's what Hanso has, way better mobility
It's quicker to use and you can use it on the ground
Damn I guess Lifeweaver can be good if you’re one of the best players in the world!
your supporting is crazy. Also im trying to get more comfy doing comms and stuff but its nervy talking on mic..idk how yall do it
by just doing it
Its not that hes absolutely awful but theres just no reason to pick him above the other support options, everything he can do can be done better. Also only top players are actually able to get some value off of him, if any
As a dive main not even baps immortality lamp isn't shit compared to the insta pull out ability where you can soften the whole team get pulled out, heal and then finally push their shit in
No other support is providing high ground and area denial like LW can. He can block whole exits with Tree.
