The original is basically a classic to me. But, man, this new version here is a thing of perfection. It’s wonderful to fall in love with a song again, to find it’s improved-better than nostalgia to come to something old and find it new after all.

It kind of clarifies the meaning of the song. Or at least makes it a little more explicit. The original implies the misfits are better off, despite them feeling otherwise. The new version adds that years passing proved this.

When this song came out, I remember wanting to be a cool kid, fitting in. Now, I have learned that my strength and coolness has been found. I didn't need to fit in. I needed to find friends who embraced me standing out alongside them.

Thank you so much for bringing Cool Kids and its memories back alive in 2022, this song means so much to me. It reminds me of my father. I told him it was my favorite song and he loved it too, he played it repeatedly on our last holiday trip in 2015 and he passed away in 2020. I wish he could hear this beautiful version in heaven🥺 love you guys❤️
I was going through quite a tough and lonely period back when this song was first being played on the local radio, back in 2015 in Finland. It struck a real chord in me, touched the sore spots and filled them with warmth.
That the band was just starting out then, fitted right in with the song.
It was a very special time, and the song fills a large part in this time. Also very much for its warmth.

This song came out a mere few months after I finally graduated from secondary school. My school was 100% ruled by “the cool kids” and although I despised them, I can very much relate to the desire to belong to such a group (just because all humans want to belong!). I really love the new bridge. It emphasises how I always felt: you might wish to be like the cool kids, but realise that you can never make a difference unless you are different. THANK YOU Echosmith for all your amazing songs ❤️

LOVE this new video version of "Cool Kids." TBH I didnt know about Echosmith until about two years ago when I heard "Bright." Then I found out a little while later they were the ones who did "Cool Kids" when it came out in 2013 and at only sixteen! Keep it up Echosmith ❤ I love those new lines at 2:21 as well
