Kings Cross after investment; Superb! Leeds City after investment; Bland . The train looked very good and nice to see the buffet open again. Would have been useful to see disabled access and toilet facilities.
00:28 I am surprised that they have free tea and coffee at the First Class lounge in London. When I was travelling from Leeds in June the lounge overthere did not offer any drinks due to covid.
Seen lots of reviews of Azumas complaining of uncomfortable seats and poor ride quality. Back in the 90's, travelled to Leeds on the 'Yorkshire Pullman' just after the class 91's and MkIV's were introduced. Everybody complained about them too at the time for the same reason. Plus ça change..
Can agree with others who say bad things about seat being uncomfortable and very poorly padded as travel weekly on the Azumas. The seats are slightly better in First class but the ride quality is rubbish at speed especially between Grantham and Finsbury Park when at full speed the train seems to roll and sway all over the place. The overhead lighting is so bright its blindingly awful. At full speed there is also a loud humming sound (from around 3:15 and 4:15 on this video) its tiresome and just drives you nuts after about an hour. Would not recommend these units to anyone when compared to the 91s/225 or even the long gone HST. Think HITATCHI designed them for the Japanese market for 5 foot tall 6 stone weaklings.
Mark Ellis When they built the class 91 225 sets they save 4 tons per coach over the old stock in use The first time I went on one I figured where that weight was saved The seats They were hard and thin like Azuma but without the high back. It is true like Azuma many complained about them and they were replaced by much better ones. Other than that the ride quality was good and they were reasonably quiet The Azuma not only has poor seating but a poor ride quality and the loud Fireball XL5 sounding motors so even if the seats are replaced for better ones by GBR the trains will still not be a good as the 91 225 or the HST
Which LNER Azuma trains are better. The Class 800 Bi-mode or Class 801 AC electric. Have to say that LNER have made their services lot better than previous rail operators (GNER, NXEC, East Coast and VTEC). Plus with First Group East Coast Trains to start operating their new service with the Class 803 AT300 from Autumn this year.

I didn't know there was a plaque dedicated to the spot where Mallard broke the speed record! I noticed it is before Grantham Station, is it easy to look out for? Is it after Stevenage Station?
Exactly video which I was looking for. Thanks. I have a question. Can I take a luggage to the train? I have 3 luggages by 20 kg each. Should I pay extra for them or no chance to take them
It's funny I do the east coast main line from London and back about once a month always first class because its crazy not to for about the last 15 years and I've never once used or even looked in the first class lounge..
But are the seats as uncomfortable as others have said? And is the ride "rocky" (as others have also said? These Hitachi's have a terrible reputation. Especially the GWR ones. Is this your view?
I find the LNER seats better than the GWR ones, which really are too hard. These have a softer moquette and warmer colour - how much this affects perception and how much is a real difference I can't say! Ride was fine. Tough job to follow a Mk3, that's the problem.
Azuma seats are absolutely awful. I endured one for five hours (in first class) from Aberdeen to York and I was really glad to get off. Next time I'm flying to Aberdeen because I can;'t stand the thought of another long journey in one of those trains.
Was on the new azuma yesterday from London to Darlington. Very rocky ride, very uncomfortable seats. Having travelled through Europe this summer from London to Paris and back. The journey from London to Darlington was the most uncomfortable.
Tapesh. The average time is 3 hours and 15 minutes and will cost you over £128 for the privilege. Best of luck and hope there's no signal failure, power failure, points failures, broken down train or wrong type of weather.
@@rr-jp7kg as a resident of London and involving daily commute I perfectly understand the systemic failures of our rail network … fares go up each year though !!
Why is the train traveling almost empty? In this day and age people should be lured out of their cars and into trains because of air pollution. Instead the M1 is jammed with traffic every day. This journey alone would have taken hundreds of cars off the road.

So good to see you uploading again!
Lovely to see videos like this, showing us parts of the network we don't normally get to see!
Another enjoyable video. I find myself yearning to have been on that calm and comfortable-looking journey. Many thanks
Hello There, this is a great and very well detailed Video, thank you for sharing this, it's much appreciated. Cheers Peter :)
Lovely video - I really like your video style.
Reminds me what it's like to travel in the UK by train and missing it.
Great video. Nicely covered the facilities and the route
You've got us all excited for our upcoming rail journey around the UK!
Great video! Love the sound of EMUs 😍 doesn't seem like it was very crowded

Quite impressive acceleration!

Great vids as always 👍👍
Nice to see a 225 hanging on @ KGX...
Wow these are so clean and efficient. I wish the U.S. had transportation like this.
Driving in England is MUCH more expensive. The U.S. would have to make driving much more expensive to support such train systems.

To be fair to Leeds, I didn't show the art deco hall, once used as a car park, now beautifully renovated. It's a sort of cul-de-sac at the side!

Low business travel loading due to covid-19. I filmed the empty cars, why stick a camera in people's faces when you can film an empty section?
