Fantastic. Regarding the plasma cutter - be careful that the units case doesn’t ground out to the metal bench or ground lead. The case must remain insulated to the grounding lead. Another TH-camr shorted theirs out and destroyed the power supply. 👍😎👍
Won’t be long and you will be looking for or building a bigger shop to fit all this awesomeness into. Can’t wait to watch your skill grow as they did with the Pullmax. Thanks for taking us along on the metalshaping journey.
The color looks appropriate to me but its your machine... congrats on your procurement of a machine that separates the men from the boys!. I've never even used a power hammer..but I've experienced less than desirable results with an English wheel!... hope to see the results from this new tool..
Haha when I saw the title and length of it I didn’t think I could get through it but it was so interesting with all the stages of progression that I made it through and was a little disappointed that it wasn’t longer with you actually running the thing in the end. Nice work.
Wow, what an addition to the shop. I like the color, because I like an old, industrial look, and maybe mist on a little red oxide primer for patina? Then you have to paint the other adjacent tools to match, lol. Sure, the machine will vibrate and move a little, but you can keep an eye on that, and not let it walk away, anchor it better as needed. Lookin' great Travis.
You obviously have never bought a shity tool. Lol ! Hey, I'm a tool junkie for sure, not trying to be ugly at all....just have many "tool regrets". Best of vibes to you my brother!
You were getting ready to paint and in my head was like oh he should do green * as I painted my metal lathe green and metal shaper green just hunter green farm paint from rural king * funny when you started painting and I saw green :) love the machine and the work keep it up keeping old trades and skills alive!
Did I understand Shepherd was not wanting to get into making more to sell? A possible option is he might do what Wray Schelin does and sell full size template for metal for customer to buy his own metal and weld together. Then just supply hammer mechanical parts
Afternoon Travis! Wow! I can't even imagine how much that big piece of wood cost?? One thing I don't like about Plasma machines is the sparks, I make a huge effort not to use my torch in the garage...just because of the sparks...
@@RACGARAGE Thanks Travis. I had the same question because it seems both machines work on the same basic concept. Interested in hearing what the differences, positives/negatives are between these two machines. Just curious, how thick is your concrete floor ??? Is there a "recommendation" by the manufacturer???
@@kurtludwig6962 LOL !! Can certainly relate to that !! We all practice that "immortal" thinking when we are young and "pay the price", at the "orthopedic surgery center", decades later. Not "fun" when the damage you're doing to them now needs to be repaired decades down the road. Get help or use mechanical aids for heavy lifting.;o)
I'm not a welder but I watch a lot of it so I think I understand short welds on sheet metal but in half to three eights plate should hold a continuous weld so it confuses me why your doing it so slow a little at a time
your set up has a few problems in my opinion, yes hammers were attached to support beams in buildings they were also belt driven and smaller, you need a self-supporting base, the harmonics (shake)with that secured(??) to your shop wall will be hard to take, as will be the noise mounted to a wood column, power hammers tend to walk, even with a good base, also the lower arm timbers serve only to stiffen the lower arm not to support the machine, adjust in some stroke ran it at full and you'll see what I'm talking about,,,
Pretty damn stupid putting your hand between the dies while the machine is running! I don't care if you're sure everyting is tight. Shit can happen whether you think so or not. Otherwise looks good.

I watched the whole thing and I sympathized with your lifting the top part. That is one heavy part.
It was a beast
Gotta love "the beast"! And the old glove leather seals. Period correct!

BTW the color reminds me of Nailhead Buick engine paint.

Yeah it got too long so the next part will have it running! Sorry about that
Love it when machinery looks like art at the same time. So cool, congrats on the powerhammer and good luck nailing that paint color...
Beautiful piece of machinery that things are gonna shake the garage down Travis Very Kool

I would anchor it but I have radiant floor heating. It’s a gamble drilling holes
Beautiful machine, congratulations on the addition. Can't wait to see how you use it.
New tools and always nice. I never met a tool that I didn’t like.

I tried to think it more with a whole quart of hunter green and it didn’t do anything so I just painted it grey 😂
@@RACGARAGE hey nothing wrong with grey … most machines in America are grey
@@germanfamily5838 and half of the original pettingell power hammers were grey
Really excited to see the power hammer in action. I really want to get one.
What an effort - wonderful!

Nice work putting the hammer together….
Good job
Every time I install a new tube of grease I have to remove the hose to and bleed out the air using my finger for a check valve.
Cool vid. I kinda like the paint color. 🤷🏻♂️🤣
I’m with you……Every grease gun I’ve ever owned never worked until I bit the bullet and bought a good pro gun,,,,,,,,and the others,,,garbage…!
You need a good water trap for the air or you'll blow the tips out. Nice power hammer.
Thanks for the tip!
Nice build 👍
Nice if could use one I would love one.
More bracing. More anchors to the wall.
Working on that as we speak
Anchor it to the floor and more bracing to the wall
I have radiant floor heating, out of the question.
@@RACGARAGEthat's a tremendous amount of weight on a very unbalanced beam. if that falls on somebody could be fatal. Safety first above all else.
Just curious? what are you going to use this power hammer for ?
Cracking walnuts.
Shaping sheet metal, this is not a blacksmith type power hammer
Isn't that what the pulmax is for!?
@@chasnelson5753 it’s different, I’ll explain In more detail when it’s actually finished
