Thank you for taking the time to explain the process of how it developed within your practice. Your explanation brings new tools for visualizing the energy movement. Really looking forward to seeing you guys sometime!

Many thanks for posting this up Drew. I’m currently on the PD path and hearing things from another perspective (and using slightly different words), is really useful. ❤👍

How do you "open the joints"?

Release (song) and expand (kai) basically stretching outwards instead of pushing with pure muscles...

It is basically tai ji, except for the fact that instead of using Lower Field they use Middle Field.

Problem is when you always demonstrate on someone, they subconsciously to react the way you want.

    • @ilyaolshanetskiy7421

There is no such *problem* or rather it exists in your imagination only. Drew's assistant reacts this way because his body structure is controlled by Drew"s Y and not because of some subconscious mind. Once you try it, you will feel it yourself.

None of this even matters if you can’t feel chi. It’s like telling someone to wiggle the ears by just wiggling their ears. Well, they don’t know how to wiggle their ears and there’s no easy way to teach them

It all comes from tai chi. Master Wang's father was a famous tai chi guy.

@@paulfauteux7794 No, he wasn't. He taught 8 step praying mantis. He happened to be very good at push hands. What Howard is doing is a mix of different things and his own inventions. Some of it is very good, but for the most part he's trying to reinvent the wheel as well as package and market it to Westerners and make lost of money.

To be fair, most people practicing tai chi can't do this stuff. It's mostly shoving.

Why? Do you learn punching directly on someone who's dodging everything? Or locks one someone who doesn't let himself get locked? You have to be cooperative and somewhat compliant for learning purposes.
      Go try. You'd be surprised.
