Barack is suggesting that the best way to confront the special interests is to ally himself with powerful players whose investments are most affected by the "trickle-up" of pain from Main Street to Wall Street. This is a saavy way to use the sub-prime situation to his advantage, but is it enough? Does he really have a chance of taking on the special interests? Wonderful speech. But the issue of bringing transparency to government as a way to plug the influence of corporate lobbies on law making, is I think, wrong. The problem is that the more transparent and «open doors» government becomes, the more easily lobbyists can monitor and influence law making.
