As an American visiting Delhi I was astounded to read about this phenomenon in the Hindustan times and had to wonder if this was really a thing. Discriminating against Indians, in an Indian owned restaurant, in India is just a little hard to imagine. Never went to one.

My friend and I walked in the same restaurant in the month of July , 2015 , guess what they didn't allow us to sit or even check the menu. Instead the owner said- that he charges Rs 10,000 for a week and only members are allowed inside.. Trust me , we didn't create any nuisance. Free kasol is a disappointment.

We did actually go to this cafe. They obviously dont want negative review and so they speak so. Right when we walked in we felt this unwelcomed air. They first told us the kitchen is almost closing. Only when we asked there must be something we can have they let us dine. And they were not very warm with us. The vibe was super wierd. We were up to order something and turns out they just have a single type of sandwich at the time. Which i knew wasnt true as they were serving the israelis at another table with much more. And they also specifically told us we couldn't smoke inside. Well, we werent going to anyways. Buy we again saw the israelis were free to do so.
Well, it is understandable that they want to maintain business of another culture and that they want no intrusion into that whatsoever. But racist profiling is the only name that can be given to it.
That s why they are called Apartheid: Israelis only, and that's also true in Europe. You really don't feel welcome. The city hall's public park in a posh neighborhood where I live in France is just not a place where you like to sit down when they are present with their children, however they cleverly are very friendly with white French people, who sometimes don't even get it they are Jewish, naturally as most of them are white as well. Chances are the owner was lying to the camera - I've seen such places in Goa where only Russians and generally white skin ppl are allowed , not us . We just cannot question them They have police and local political contacts and speak fluent Konkani - we are at fault for letting this

Same happened with me. I'm from Assam in N.E India, firstly I thought they are only not allowing people from Delhi, Haryana etc but since I have Asian looks they assumed me I'm not an Indian and allowed me to enter there but I have said that I'm an Indian and I refused to enter such a place where such discrimination is prevailing. Even girls are not allowed there. They stated that men abuses the Israeli girls. Will the Indian girls now abuses those Israeli chicks. I am not visiting Himachal Pradesh again. I've been there too with my family and it was obvious we were not welcome there so we didn't go in. They gave the same fake story about being a members only club. We went to another restaurant there and they told us that the real issue was drugs. Israelis and foreigners freely do drugs in that cafe and some others. it's a cosy little group which is why they don't any Indian families there. Anyway I didn't like Parvati Valley and Kasol much so never going there again. Creepy place.
Oh and just remembered, the night we passed Kasol enroute to Manikaran, there was a rave going on there. So much for lame and pathetic excuses of avoiding drunk Indians'.

Such a coincidence . Today at kasol I went to evergreen cafe . There were many Israelis around and a few Indians. No body came to take my order for over 30 minutes. It was the same for the other indian couples seated nearby . After an hour of just sitting without being serviced all the Indians just got up and left . I guess this is what the cafe owners intended from the beginning. This happened today may 2018 btw

this is bull shit...i was there in Kasol from 9th -12th august '15. I stayed in Green valley hotel which is right next to Freekasol restaurant. one night i just wanted to get some food packed. As soon as i reached the entrance of restaurant a rowdy indian guy told me to move on and go to some other restaurant. It was quite a shock for me. But they do discriminate and am a proof of that.

This happened with us as well in 2011.. they told me it's members only .. I said I would like to take membership.. the guy said I won't get .. without giving any reasons .... Also the place was filled with Israelis
The same thing was also happened to me , but after coming out of this cafe I just pooped at the entry and ran away.

This is a fact that Israelis run a drugs biz on many upper hill stations and there are many cafes/ joints / areas where they restrict non Israelis. This is also rampant in places like Goa.
Quite a few ex forces Israelis guys come to have drugs in India. Russians as well are buying properties in Goa like crazy, all to facilitate their growing drug clout...and yes Indians are not served in all their shacks. I recall Manohar Parikkar mentioning to fight this when he was CM of Goa.

What's strange is that hardly any of these places are literally owned by foreign nationals. It's difficult to ascertain whether the Indian owners knowing that the racist 'foreigners' want to be amongst themselves as much as possible and monetary gain being their main prerogative exploit this by discouraging Indians at their establishments or even worse that the Indian owners temporarily lease their properties to these foreign nationals hence giving them temporary proprietorship where they adopt this discriminatory practice.
Such behaviour is completely unacceptable, if a foreign national has engaged in such discrimination they should be kneeled down on the ground and shot in the head - No questions asked.

hey, a nice idea, and very well executed, getting to know everybodys point of view, but i was in kasol some months back, i was there with three friends of mine, all guys, so we went tot his cafe, and we were not drunk, we were not carrying anything on us, but we were stopped by a guy there , and he said no not allowed, when i asked him whats the reason, he said only for members, which to me was ok, and we went to the bhoj cafe, see kasol and its people does test you as a customer , and all of them dont want alchohol gulping crowd in any of there cafes, but this particular one asked me to leave, withouth any reason, i guess if you go in with camers or girls you are treated differently, all are not welcome there thats for sure
