Hi Roland , we no longer have a garage door our own that is , but knowledge is king . I see you are in Ontario we are in Vancouver, great to meet you yes I liked it 👍
@@GettingItDoneRepairs I replaced both. It wasn't that hard. Now it's working much better and I didn't have the nightmare of the garage door not going down all the way after new springs. Thanks for the video. I read that in the comments section somewhere.
Hi. Wonder if you can help me. I'm thinking of doing a High Lift conversion. About 10-12". How do I find the right replacement spring? Do you know of any resouce I can use? i have a torsion spring setup. Thanks
any idea as to the average size/color/other torsion coils(the type you wind) for a 16x7 aluminum insulated(pretty minimalistic) door? or after weighing is it similar? this video is pretty straight forward but most the material I've seen for sizing the torsion coils involves knowing what the originals were(I don't have them, the person who sold me the door used, gave me 2 mismatched so I assume theirs broke or they never had them; I'm still looking at other videos/etc) or mention sizes of coils/etc; currently I have the ones off my tin 16x7 door which will likely work temporary but I know they're overkill:P(the plan for now is try 15~ quarter winds rather than 30 and see what happens; if they ends up working perfectly than I'll just leave em till they break:P)
Cannot find torsion springs for 7x16ft, weighs 255lbs. Currently has two springs 207x2x20. Felt like these were not strong enough to balanced door half open. Any guidance would be appreciated.
I weighed it on a scale that goes up to 500 pounds and it passed that. It is HEAVY and prob the original door (WOOD) which is over 50 years old. This is just one of the two doors. HELP!! I’m assuming I’ll need the gold since my door is way over 200
The video guy has Extension Springs which are on the sides. Older doors and most people have doors with torsion springs. In both cases, it’s good to weigh the doors to get new springs, rather than trust the ones installed. With torsion springs, often there is only 1, not 2, because the installer was lazy, went cheap or just didn’t have 2 proper springs. This guy has 2 extension springs. So if you have 1 torsion, this video isn’t right for you.
Then call a professional. Many standard 7-9ft doors are under 200 lbs. either you have a large 15-16 foot door, or something is preventing it from opening. This video is not nonsense. Your situation is different.

Thanks for posting, and for keeping it concise. Too many TH-camrs take ten minutes or more to convey the same information.
You're welcome!
Thank You! I've been looking for this info for a week. It's clear my springs are undersized. Again, Thanks.
Glad I could help!
Hi Roland , we no longer have a garage door our own that is , but knowledge is king .

Now I have to look at my springs to see what color I have, look at what you are going to make me do😂. Take care Roland and have a blessed week.
lol only if it breaks Tony. Don't stress yourself
Great information Roland. Garage doors here are problematic at times, nice to know these things to save money on getting a handyman next time. 👍
Very good information. We had to do a test on our garage door and learned this
Good stuff, not many folks know about weighing their garage doors to get the proper weight of spring.
@@GettingItDoneRepairs we had to do it when we were selling our house
We are in the process of getting a new door this week.
Good stuff Mack!
Good info! My garage doors weigh 145 lbs not sure if I use 140 or 150 lbs? Thanks you!
Great Info, Roland! You give great advice on things like this! God Bless!
Hi Angie, thank you for stopping by!
How much tension should be on garage door springs when the door is open? barely enough to keep them from sagging?
I only have one bad spring, should I replace both?
Yes the other spring is likely getting weak as well.
@@GettingItDoneRepairs I replaced both. It wasn't that hard. Now it's working much better and I didn't have the nightmare of the garage door not going down all the way after new springs.
Thanks for the video.
I read that in the comments section somewhere.
That was a really good informational video
I like your ending with the other videos to watch...very nice my friend..Eva
Thanks Eva, somebody finally noticed and said something. I'm proud of that ending hahaha
@@GettingItDoneRepairs yes as a creator i see the difference..understanding the click onto another video..
Thanks Roland👍😁💞
I'm trying to figure out how both loops could be broken...?

How about choosing the Torsion Springs? Is that by weight too?
Yes the springs come in different weights according to the door

Is it a regular non insulated door? If it is then the 207 should be good just put 28 or 29 quarter turns
Good information!

How do you lift your garage door if your spring is already broken?
Strong friends
if you chose a bigger spring that's fine right? should in theory last longer
If it's to big maybe the door will be hard to close for the door opener
Very informative thanks !
You are welcome my friend!😀
Great video!
Thanks!
Well done
Tank ya!
Thanks for the tips. Very helpful, why you flipping us off?
wow i didnt know this! Thanks for sharing! ~Alyssa
Your welcome Alyssa! Not many people know, a spring is just a spring right. How would we know.
My garage door weight is 140LBS AND A SEE A SPING ON AMAZON FOR $200 IT HAVE RED PAINTING ON THE END, YOU THINK I SHOULD BUY IT
Do they show you the different weights of springs? They should show you which spring matches your garage door.
Thumbs up great info take care catch you later
Thank you MrG, catch you later
Door is too heavy to lift once i disconnected the springs...
love this series you've created for easy how to. smart stuff. not many would even know where to begin. 👍🤍
Thanks Peggy! I have a couple more video in this series coming out.
Is it weird the springs are painted red?

Tonyyyy?!! I think it's apparent I'm not talking about torsion springs. Also I did weigh my doors.
No way I can weigh my door , I can't even pry it up with a crow bar . Thing must weigh between 500 to 800 lbs. Complete non sense !
