  • A look at Joaquin Sorolla and Frank W. Benson's masterful handling of sunlight

Here’s the link - aotw.com/subsc... … and the access code: TryDigital

This is an absolutely wonderfully straightforward explanation of light and shadows. I have to admit that this is hardly ever explained. Yet without this understanding, and expression in our paintings, they will tend to look dull and if not lifeless, then at the very least less than masterful. thanks for sharing.

@s.c.mummert6263 hi! Are you familiar with the work of a Venezuelan painter named Armando Reveron? His painting shows some interesting ideas about how to deal with light in the tropics vs in the Mediterranean

When you mentioned the mirror, I suddenly realised it's all a mosaic of mirrors regarding the light's influence.

The levels of that influence varies ... but you're exactly right

I was in awe when I saw your piece, that is fantastic. Do you have an instagram or somwhere you post your art?

You're very kind, thanks! I do have an Instagram channel. However, it gets very little attention right now-sorry. The best way to see new work is on my website www.scmummert.com or to subscribe to my newsletter via my website. The newsletters often show behind-the-scenes stuff, along with works in progress.
