God damn it this anime....Why didn't I watch it earlier. Eevery second it's pure art, from de opening, the characters, the storyline, the art, the ending. Just...everything about it it's to die for
I think this is Kiritsugu speaking with Irisviel, mainly because of a few reasons and lines from the song itself: 1. "In order to create a future where no one will cry ever again." - Iri said this to Kiritsugu since she fully believes that he will create such a future. A world where there is no pain or sadness, a "perfect" world where everyone can be happy. 2. The two of them, Irisviel and Kiritsugu, love each other deeply and care for the other more than anything in the world(despite knowing the fact it would end in tragedy). Iri fully believes and loves him, and is willing to die for his ideals. Kiritsugu loves her as well, but is tormented by that love for her because he knows she will have to die for his wish/ideals. 3. "My screams and prayers doesn't reach anywhere and just disappear into the tainted crimson sky" - This line in the song is from Kiritsugu's inner self(I think). The screams and prayers part is him basically saying: "I wish to become the "Hero of Justice. I wish to protect the weak. I wish for a utopia, a utopia where no one will cry ever again."; The tainted crimson sky part is his days of being an assassin and taking part in countless bloody battles, fighting for a dream/wish that could not be fulfilled. 4. Irisviel is basically like a moral compass to him. She loves him with all her heart and will always want to walk the same path as him. She also gives birth to Illya so that Kiritsugu has one thing to come back to after the War is over. 5. "With my eyes shut I'll still reach out my hand, believing in your grief" - Again, this comes back to Iri. This line of the song seems to say that no matter what, Iri will always believe in Kiritsugu. The eyes shut thing seems to imply that, even after death, she will still love, care, and understand Kiritsugu, and will also recognize and comfort his grief and agony. (This is only a handful of what I can decipher from the song that relates to both of these two, and this only speculation)
point 3 could also point to the ending of the HGW where the Grail's mud destroyed everything in flames ""My screams and prayers doesn't reach anywhere and just disappear into the tainted crimson sky" he spent hours screaming and looking for survivors
The series gave me unique emotions, it is so beautiful and classical while being full of tragedies .I still remember clearly the sorrowful face of saber standing on the piles of blood at the start of the op even tho it has been a long time i have watched this anime. One of the best so far
"If I could choose you and search for happiness just for the two of us" reminds me when Kiritsugu had a moment of weakness and asked Irisviel to throw away everything so they could run away with Illya, as well when the illusion of Angra Mainyu revealed that deep down he wanted to revive Irisviel and being with Illya again.
It may not be gory or horror but it was definitely brutal. People abandoning their morals, killing their families and slaughtering children, just for a wish but only to find out everything was a lie.
