- 500 dancers, all real, no CG save for the incredible work creating Robbie Williams as a monkey... and a huge bubblegum machine. Go behind-the-scenes with director Michael Gracey on the massive, expertly choreographed Regent Street song and dance number from the all-new Robbie Williams biopic that tells the story of the rise, fall, and rise of the famous artist.
'Better Man' is based on the true story of the meteoric rise, dramatic fall, and remarkable resurgence of British pop superstar Robbie Williams, one of the greatest entertainers of all time. Directed by Michael Gracey ('The Greatest Showman'), the film is uniquely told from Williams’ perspective, capturing his signature wit and indomitable spirit.
It follows Robbie’s journey from childhood, to being the youngest member of chart-topping boyband Take That, through to his unparalleled achievements as a record-breaking solo artist - all the while confronting the challenges that stratospheric fame and success can bring.
And... he's portrayed as a monkey (technically a chimpanzee) because in his earliest years, he felt he was performing as a trained monkey.
The film's stunning VFX were created by Wētā FX. Jonno Davies plays Williams, brought to live as a monkey through motion capture and animation.
Releasing wide in theaters on January 10.
