Hadnt seen a Bebop 2 drone with Skycontroller on review yet, would love to see the 4 arm triple blade under review I love sending mine out on GPS flight plan, flights. Also have the MJX X600 with Runcam, its too bad the Runcams digital stabilization is greyed out in the menu of the latest firmware. Parrot has this DISCO drone coming out that just looks wicked!
101, looking at the altitude you were flying at when you lost fpv signal, could be due to an impingement of the Fresnel zone. Basically, some of the transmitted signal being reflected from the ground and the receiver is receiving an out of phase signal. Try climbing a few meters and see if the signal returns at that distance. The quad itself looks a tidy machine and looks as capable, if not more than the XK 380. A very nice camera bird, my only gripe is: why oh why do they not fit a very simple on-off switch on the top of it. To walk up to an armed copter, pick it up, turn it on its back to power down, just seems crazy...
mine is in cincinatti ohio I bought it from Oswaldo loor with the gitup2 camera included and I had enough points to get a g2d gimbal free from amazon so I can wait. dustin dunnel had a great idea for mounting the gimbal you can use the x380s controller your right this is the x380s big brother hey also check out the new xk 251 and x252 there smaller but one is made similar to the x500
Try a patch antenna on the goggles. It appears to help the range on mine. Watch out for those F-18's doing their maneuvers at China Lake Naval Airbase. Those F-18's are expensive if you happen to collide with one;)
The design of this one is quite interesting: I think it's basically just "big to be big", but that does make it sorta cool. The actual advantage is that because it isn't very heavy for its size and it has huge props, they are spinning at rather low rpms and this makes it rather quiet. You could probably upgrade it with better motors and make it capable of carrying large payloads and going very fast.
This has the most lifting power of all the quadcopters that I've evaluated. Because of that, it's one of my "keepers" that I use for special science experiments ;-) th-cam.com/video/h198g4S1A3o/w-d-xo.html
I too am in CA. I made the mistake of flying yesterday in 22 mile wind and crashed my blade 200 qx. I lost two props and cracked one of motor covers. I considered myself lucky in that I didn't completely lose the quad. Lessen learned.
I was wondering what the prop size was on this model? GearBest has the quad on slae but the price on it is higher than the DJI Phantom. The colors are ok for visibility but they make it look like a toy quad and I guess one could paint it. :) Thanks for your review.
fatshark spironet antenna that's what I always use !!work the best I've gone really really really far away out of sight with those antennas and never had a problem with quadcopters that don't have GPS or return home LOL !! but it sure makes it easier when you have it(GPS)! By the way nice video! also did you hear about my skywarrior incident? flew fantastic till I installed the stock camera and gimbal!! ended up flying away on me but I did find it
+Andy Shaffer-Bigred That's what I was thinking, PVC to slide into the U brackets that come with it. If you see anybody that has already done such, and has shared how, please include a link here.
+Andy Shaffer-Bigred Yeah, I saw that. Here's a picture of the attachment setup. static.rcgroups.net/forums/attachments/5/7/8/0/0/4/a8768757-2-IMG_20160305_010000.jpg
Quadcopter 101 I have the walkera g2d gimbal getting delivered tomorrow from Amazon. And the xk aircam x500 will be delivered Friday March 18 th so I will need to make a mod for the gimbal I don't have carbon fiber but I do have a hardware store up the street. And a Lowe's in Fayetteville so I can find something to mount it on with. I'm excited about getting this big quacopter I kept waiting on you to do a review ever since this first come out. And I thought I was going to get mine before you did your review and you got yours just a couple of days before I got mine lol or at least before you had time to do your review. On it but I have been looking at everyones ideas for mounting the camera and gimbal and it gives you great room and even the battery could be changed to a bigger battery. Maybe a 6600 mah battery. I need to lose the weight off of my x380 in order to find out what the limit of range is on the x380. Which will now be the aircam how long are you getting with the x500
Andy Shaffer-Bigred Please share how you end up mounting the gimbal. But be very careful doing such as there are exposed solder joints on the belly of this quad (can easily be shorted if they come in contact with metal).
+Quadcopter 101 hey I found some 8000 mah batteries 14v, could I use the on the x500? I'm not sure about the weight of them ill have to check, but if I can use them that should increase the flight time because my fpv and gimbal is killing my x380s flight time. so I was thinking I may need to go bigger in battery size but I don't want to overload it.
SIr ; I really enjoyed your video ! I never flew one but it looks fun ! I do have a question : I love to surf fish . IF , I learned to fly one of these , could I adapt it to go out say 150 yards in the ocean and drop my bait attacked to a surf rod and reel ? Thank you ....
I got me a phantom 2 with zenmuse h3_3d gimble and fatsharks attitudes for 200$ but it fly's great but needs new smart lipos they swelling after run and overall seem swollen,I've got to figure if the vision 2 lipos will work they are 5400mah 11.1v instead of 11.1v 5200mah
+Camshaft Shaft It's not really necessary, but it helps to do a compass calibration if you notice any toilet bowl gyrations. It's easy enough to do, and only takes about a half minute.
+Dwain Johnson The flight controller and receiver set are the exact same as the XK detect 380. Even the transmitters are entirely interchangeable. This is simply a more massive quad thus offering much better wind resistance. Accessibility of the various controller boards coupled with the ability to fit a large array of different battery configurations gives this a definite advantage over the Xk 380.

Greatly appreciate your video's!! I hav a few ?'s: 1) would you currently recommend this or the 350 version? 2) Is there any camera control such as start/stop video or snap a pic from controllet? 3) Do the FPV capabilities only come with camera included versions? 4) What alternative cams/gimbals work with it and are any features lost utilizing 3rd party cam/gimbal? Thanks.
Hello again another nice review, also i have a question tjat maybe ypu can help it's true that at least for now only commercial pilot need to register drone with the FAA? what do you know about that i will appreciate your help Thanks
May i ask where you record your videos? It's so beautiful, going to a desert (or desert like area) is on my bucket list, especially now that i bought the phantom 3! thanks for the awesome videos
You need to invest in a couple cloverleaf/dome antennas - one for your VTX and one for your goggles .. much better than those monopoles. Make sure you match polarization (right hand = RHCP or left hand = LHCP). Flew my X380 out over the golf course this past Monday, panned down with the gimbal and videoed some golfers putting on the green. I was high enough that they didn't even know that they were being videoed. (I put DJI Phantom 3 props on my X380, which are a bit quieter). That XK500 is HUGE ... I think Dustin is going to try an put a 10000 mah battery on his to see if he can get a 30 minute flight time. That's another nice thing about the XK500 ... you aren't bound to a certain size battery as you are with the X380. Cheers .. always enjoy your videos.
+Bill Somrak You know, with the stock battery (and no gimbal) I got about 20 minutes flight time in the above video. Measured the battery at rest, and still had 15V resting voltage (3.75V per cell) remaining after this flight.
Hey +Quadcopter 101 I am a big fan of your's and, like you, I think quadcopters are the bomb! I have had quite a bit of experience with toy grades, and would consider myself pretty experienced in maneuvers, orientation, and such, but I want to get more into hobby grade quads with GPS, gimbal, GoPro and FPV capability, what not. I do have the Kaideng K70C but I want a step up from that. question , I am new to the hobby. If you are flying a quad that has no FPV and can not be flown in the headless mode and does not have a return to home feature then if you loose visual sight of it , there is a strong chance of loosing it correct ? Thank you ... Love your vids ~!
+sparky42 That is correct. But even FPV and GPS can fail you if you fly out of visual sight. Never depend on them. Learn the following basic skill to prevent you from flying out of sight. th-cam.com/video/qdYTCfjUVVo/w-d-xo.html
wasn't that a compass calibration? Maybe I'm wrong but never heard of gyros causing TBE. I can't imagine having to do that nonsense to calibrate instead of software like Mission Planner. That's the main reason I won't use WLTOYS. Their quads are too handicapped by the proprietary FC's
+Ryan Devall Sorry, I meant to say compass. But it is good to be able to do a compass calibration on the fly in the field if you do notice problems with steady hover.
No it does not. I've only reviewed three quadcopters with follow me. CX-22 th-cam.com/video/tqbyIyGYC84/w-d-xo.html H501S th-cam.com/video/k0GEMJujPJA/w-d-xo.html and Flypro Xeagle th-cam.com/video/84e9uDgG1dA/w-d-xo.html
There will be a new video tomorrow. But I am currently on vacation, traveling across the USA by car. I hope to be posting vacation drone videos once I reach my destination.
I am looking for a quadcopter go use surf fishing that is easy to fly, can carry a load, return home feature and has 300 meter range. Camera is nice option but won't need 4K. Oh did I mention I want it Cheap (under $250.00)! Any recommendations?
I have an XKX 350 and when I got it the remote control was broken so I ordered a new remote through GearBest now I can’t figure out how to find my new remotes with my ex K it’s the same exact one that comes with the drone but does not seem to work can you give me any help with this
See page 4 of your X350 manual www.cmldistribution.co.uk/product/X350/files/X350%20Manual.pdf There's a bind button inside the drone, accessible through the battery compartment that you need to depress.
QC101 - I have the Runcam 2 Camera that is supposed to be FPV capable - It does work on my smart phone but the range is pitiful - (Like 50 feet) -- am I doing something wrong?
+Cole B In the USA, the pilot needs to be registered if flying a quadcopter wieghing over 0.55 pounds (250grams). Costs $5 and 5 minutes to register www.faa.gov/uas/registration/ They'll give you a number that needs to be placed on the aircraft somewhere easily accessible without tools. I just printed up a bunch of little slips with my FAA and phone numbers that I tape inside the canopy or battery door.
Joey Lopina No it did not. Unfortunately, sounds like you were on a scam site. Here is the authentic site (always look for FAA.gov) www.faa.gov/uas/registration/
+Lee Bowerman That was twenty minutes, stock controller no mods, and I still had power for more flight. But note that it was without the weight and power drain of a gimbal.
Braap King Well then, I recommend the X380. As mentioned it has twice the range and flight time of the 3D X8 or CX-20, along with a much better GPS. But if you are a proficient flier, you can go even cheaper with non-GPS quadcopters such as Kaideng K70 th-cam.com/video/7dzTKzV7U1w/w-d-xo.html Sky Vampire th-cam.com/video/kfo5aOCXLtM/w-d-xo.html Syma X8C th-cam.com/video/Mkp4Ymdcl38/w-d-xo.html
+Keith Andrews Well considering that that is the procedure to shut off the motors after a flight, then yes, it probably would if you accidentally do such.
Yazgersfarm No it doesn't matter. Just make sure to do at least two full rotations for each orientation (level and nose down). Also make sure that the light remains on during those rotations. If it goes out at any point during those rotations, then repeat the procedure.
Not necessarily. This is for lifting bigger/heavier camera and gimbal systems. It also has the advantage of allowing an extended rod gimbal support to move the camera/gimbal forward to get the propellers and aircraft structure out of the field of view of the camera.
+Quadcopter 101 thanks, I really like your videos and I always look to your reviews before I buy. This one looked promising but can it fit a Yi action camera?? Also, I started a commercial UAV business in Indiana a year ago for mapping and filming called A.G.I.S. We are still in a developmental stage at our company and we've been working on some technology right now that I would like your input on. Is there another way I can message you?
So you took a gopro bird slapped an fvp system on it and wonder why you had trouble? Next time review it for what it is sjcam would have served you better w/o the goggles.
sorrey to say this was one of the worst videos you have don sound was up and down and it you made it look hard to fly and you lost it at one point id love it if you redo the video and show how good it really is all the best bud
Hadnt seen a Bebop 2 drone with Skycontroller on review yet, would love to see the 4 arm triple blade under review I love sending mine out on GPS flight plan, flights. At present, FAA Registration is no longer required. The use of Common Sense is however, strongly suggested. ;)

Would love having one of these, It looks handicap friendly .
I love this quad also! So many choices.
Is this detachable canopy, with those tubular swing back arms like the kaideng k70 going to be a trend in many of quads to come?
fatshark spironet antenna that's what I always use !!work the best I've gone really really really far away out of sight with those antennas and never had a problem with quadcopters that don't have GPS or return home LOL !! but it sure makes it easier when you have it(GPS)! xk innovations has new 3 axis gimbal coming out to work with both the x500 and the x380 you can use pvc pipe to make a mount for a gimbal or runcam

Great informative video ,thanks. Can you get spares for this quad? If by any chance it crashes I'd like to know if it can be repaired.
Ever Spell check "sorry"
Great quad! Great vid!!
As always 101!!!
I was actually waiting for your review on this flyer.. as I am comparing between this and the xk detect 380
Thanks for the advice
You have a beautiful location for flying !.
Thanks for sharing. I love my 380 and this one looks like it might be worth a second look. As for RTH my xk380 is much more accurate than my Phantom 3 is when using RTH. Fly safe!

May i ask where you record your videos? It's so beautiful, going to a desert (or desert like area) is on my bucket list, especially now that i bought the phantom 3! thanks for the awesome videos
Mojave Desert near Ridgecrest, California.
I agree, IB Crazy are amazing, get those if your going to get some CloverLeafs
+Bill Somrak lol , looks like Quad 101 been watching Dustin`s video too
Can you recommend on a drone with brushless motors and camera ready mount for cheap?
Hey +Quadcopter 101 I am a big fan of your's and, like you, I think quadcopters are the bomb! I have had quite a bit of experience with toy grades, and would consider myself pretty experienced in maneuvers, orientation, and such, but I want to get more into hobby grade quads with GPS, gimbal, GoPro and FPV capability, what not. Get a Hubsan 501s :D
thats cool looking quad u tested there, hey is there a way to take the ares ethos fpv radio 2.4 and make it work on the wltoys q212g u told me about? Im not fan of the wltoys radios
+David Downs It should, as the ares ethos fpv radio IS the WLToys radio. Ares Ethos = WLToys Q212G, but with over $200 mark up ;-)
wow i just tried again and lol it works but quad does a bounce up and down guess its the alltitude hold mode..thanks u know ur stuff for sure.. now u got me wanting that xk aircam lol too
Finally made a review of it
Purchase the Tarot gimbal mount rod&hook setup bolts right to the frame!

yes that's correct youll have to ream out the mounting holes a little on the quad that is all and it fits wonderfuly!
the Ares is nicer radio but I'm not sure it will bind I tried
The XK DETECT X380 2Axis Brushless Gimbal will work just fine.
The camera is Extremely good .. but the wings are messing up the Shot -
any other Drones with a similar Cam ?

does this quadcopter have follow me mode?....have been enjoyin your videos keep up that good work..

Did this come with the two axis brushless gimbal?
Nice,,, where can bye one of these bad boys?. Jimmy in jersey,,,

You should do the dji phantom 4
i watch ur videos everyday. and i was worried since u did not post ur videos. and thought that u had left youtubing 😊
There will be a new video tomorrow. But I am currently on vacation, traveling across the USA by car. I hope to be posting vacation drone videos once I reach my destination.
Nope, currently I'm halfway across the USA, in Clinton Oklahoma. Got two more days traveling to arrive in Pittsburgh PA.
Do you have a video on how to calibrate the CX-20? The instructions it came with are very confusing!
+Kyle W I don't, but many others already have th-cam.com/users/results?search_query=cx-20+calibration
+Quadcopter 101 Thank you, keep up the great videos!
Quadcopter 101 any quality fpv recommendations
Are you using the stock props or did you switch them out with the dji upgrades?
+swtruair Stock. I did balance them though.
You got the cool white motors.
I am looking for a quadcopter go use surf fishing that is easy to fly, can carry a load, return home feature and has 300 meter range. Camera is nice option but won't need 4K. Oh did I mention I want it Cheap (under $250.00)! Any recommendations?
+SBinDaHouse X380. Add your own camera and gimbal th-cam.com/video/4MWK8bxkviE/w-d-xo.html
Thank you Quadcopter101!
I have an XKX 350 and when I got it the remote control was broken so I ordered a new remote through GearBest now I can’t figure out how to find my new remotes with my ex K it’s the same exact one that comes with the drone but does not seem to work can you give me any help with this
See page 4 of your X350 manual www.cmldistribution.co.uk/product/X350/files/X350%20Manual.pdf
There's a bind button inside the drone, accessible through the battery compartment that you need to depress.
QC101 - I have the Runcam 2 Camera that is supposed to be FPV capable - It does work on my smart phone but the range is pitiful - (Like 50 feet) -- am I doing something wrong?
+Yazgersfarm That's the problem with WiFi, short range.
Quadcopter101- do you need a license for some drones off the start on any hight or is it a certain hight and over you need a license???
+Cole B In the USA, the pilot needs to be registered if flying a quadcopter wieghing over 0.55 pounds (250grams). Costs $5 and 5 minutes to register www.faa.gov/uas/registration/
They'll give you a number that needs to be placed on the aircraft somewhere easily accessible without tools. I just printed up a bunch of little slips with my FAA and phone numbers that I tape inside the canopy or battery door.
+Quadcopter 101 thank you
+Quadcopter 101 FAA price went up to $25.00
Joey Lopina No it did not. Unfortunately, sounds like you were on a scam site. Here is the authentic site (always look for FAA.gov) www.faa.gov/uas/registration/
+Quadcopter 101 wow, you're correct! It was a bogus site. Luckily I registered mine with the authentic website when it was free.
Yes it look's like a bigger k70 but with gps and brushless motors
What was your total flight time was that all on one battery had you change anything on the flight controller
+Lee Bowerman That was twenty minutes, stock controller no mods, and I still had power for more flight. But note that it was without the weight and power drain of a gimbal.
I assume this is a keeper. Nice Flight. =)
i like this quadcopter a lot
What's the best around to get it for around $200? For filming with my go Pro? Thanks
+Braap King Before I answer, may I ask what quadcopters do you currently own, and how long have you been flying them?
+Quadcopter 101 Dji phantom 1 my dad used to have sold it couple moths back I used to fly it about every day for a few years
Braap King Well then, I recommend the X380. As mentioned it has twice the range and flight time of the 3D X8 or CX-20, along with a much better GPS. But if you are a proficient flier, you can go even cheaper with non-GPS quadcopters such as Kaideng K70 th-cam.com/video/7dzTKzV7U1w/w-d-xo.html
Sky Vampire th-cam.com/video/kfo5aOCXLtM/w-d-xo.html
Syma X8C th-cam.com/video/Mkp4Ymdcl38/w-d-xo.html
+Quadcopter 101 and race drone octocopter but I need a good drone that will hold my GoPro
If you bring the throttle all the way down in flight, will it shut off the motors. My KX380 will.
+Keith Andrews Well considering that that is the procedure to shut off the motors after a flight, then yes, it probably would if you accidentally do such.
Love it! Nice Job too!
no wonder you were not posting alot :)
Good Review. Thank You
You calibrated by going "counter clockwise" - instead of clockwise. Does it matter? - Also - this is more expensive than the DJI -- is it worth it??
+Yazgersfarm No. Just 2 to 3 complete rotations is important. Also, this is currently $297 shrsl.com/?~braw
+Quadcopter 101 - I mean does it matter if you go clockwise or counterclockwise? --- The manual says Clockwise - but you went counter clockwise ---
Yazgersfarm No it doesn't matter. Just make sure to do at least two full rotations for each orientation (level and nose down). Also make sure that the light remains on during those rotations. If it goes out at any point during those rotations, then repeat the procedure.
I think I missed the part when you said the flight time ?
20 to 30 minutes (I flew it for 20 above).
Has the FAA ever contacted you?
+::: R/C Desperado ::: Nope.
+Quadcopter 101 I love this quad!✌🏼️
Do you recommend this over the x380?
Not necessarily. This is for lifting bigger/heavier camera and gimbal systems. It also has the advantage of allowing an extended rod gimbal support to move the camera/gimbal forward to get the propellers and aircraft structure out of the field of view of the camera.
your link isn't working for the page to buy it
+Wojman12 It's temporarily down. It will be back up later.
+Wojman12 Yes , you can use TH-cam private message.
Same motors as the X380?
+Yazgersfarm Nope, bigger. The X380 has 28mm diameter motors while this has 35mm.
what's the name of those googles?
+Jacobo Pindado VR007 goggles www.banggood.com/Eachine-VR-007-5_8G-40CH-HD-FPV-Goggles-Video-Glasses-4_3-Inch-With-7_4V-800mAh-Battery-p-960761.html?p=RB0922217402201307U3
whats the quadcopters range
+Brandon Vargas Supposedly 1000m. But I haven't tested it yet to confirm.
Today i had my first experience retrieving a quad copter out of a tree... Unbelievable
It'd make a nice leaf blower.
you're the best
wow,what a monster :)
Sweet
👍👍👍👍
Funky one!
So you took a gopro bird slapped an fvp system on it and wonder why you had trouble? Next time review it for what it is sjcam would have served you better w/o the goggles.
This quad cost almost the same price as DJ Phantom 3 standard edition.
how much
they on sale for $499 store.dji.com/product/phantom-3-standard?site=brandsite&from=buy_now_bar
👍
Don't tell me you're playing in to that registration bullcrap
nice!
That's huge
cool
Nice,,,,
sorrey to say this was one of the worst videos you have don sound was up and down and it you made it look hard to fly and you lost it at one point id love it if you redo the video and show how good it really is all the best bud
Sorry about that. Here's a better video of it th-cam.com/video/PD4U5Kr-pVc/w-d-xo.html
that thing is ugly lol
+Corey Tibbetts I dig it. I think it looks utilitarian and professional, kind of like a DJI Inspire.
Please GiveAway a drone :D
I dont like this quad.. Get the x380 it's much better IMO
