I hunt in MINNESOTA I have run into several groups of oriental sky busters please someone talk to these men on duck hunting etiquette because they think no matter how high or how fare the ducks are they shoot

My favorite duck is the wood ducks besides the green heads!! I definitely love all the colors that the wood ducks have!!! Very beautiful birds!!

My favorite ducks to shoot are the ones that work the decoys and react to the calls. In other words being able to talk to the birds and get them to do what you want them to do. To me that’s the true essence of duck hunting.

I noticed shooting 3 inch BB through my 12ga the pattern wasn't very dense so the clean kills dropped. BB in a 3 1/2 seem to pattern much better. Duces seem to pattern the best for me. I like Bull Pintails, and Cans, but don't hate Mallys! OK love Mallys too...and Blue Bills....can't forget Red Heads. Oh, and Teal, did I miss any...OOPS Widg, love me some Widg too. Ok, I love them all! Don't judge! LOL

Goes to show you that it is a good idea to pattern your load. My gun loves BB, 2s don't pattern well at all (they put more pellet in the circle but clumped and left holes, BBs were more even . Used to swap shells when honkers were round. Now I just shoot 3' BB at everything.
I like to shoot drake widgeons, pintail drake's and spoony drakes.

Don't let anyone knock the swat- We all have to take birds on the wing; We've seen you do it plenty. You've got nothing to prove. A swat is the most lethal and likely to recover, making it the most ethical shot to take.

A mallard that has landed in your decoys is easier to shoot that a mallard landing in your decoys- 100%.
A mallard landing is moving. It could flare the moment you pull up.
The entire argument against swatting is that it's not as hard or sporting- that it gives the bird less of a chance.
If you're missing swats on birds you need to check your pattern.

I am interested in getting into hunting but was wondering how do you know where to hunt that’s public land or do you ask people if you can get on their private property to hunt?

I really liked your video. Nice job filming a solo hunt. Your public land isn't like anything I am used to in CA where hunters are spaced every 200 to 300 yards and very rarely does a bird gets a chance to work the decoys.

Okay, question. As a Solo Hunter I really do like videos like this Any advice for beginning into Duck and Goose hunting as a solo hunter? I have a few duck floater decoys but I never seem to have luck bringing them close it happens but never like your guys videos, what am I doing wrong?

Nothing wrong with that hunt! My favorite is probably a Mottled Duck (what we call a black mallard in Louisiana). They are native to the area and quite wary, so it is always a treat to get one to work.
Sheeeshhh they sound like a blast when you get em in!
@@MinnDakOutdoors They work like mallards typically, but way more cautious and have to use real light finesse calling typically.
