I see I'm not the only one person who was interested in Jiri Trebissky's story, like why does he appear in both games and what makes him so special? Perhaps he is someone known to H&D developers privately? Now that I know that Jiri does appear in both games I tried making up his canon story that he escapes to Britain, gets trained by SAS and takes part in some of their operations but by the final phase of WWII he comes back to his homeland, helping local resistance fighting german occupant.
Yeah I am wondering about that as well. As far as I'm aware of, he's the only returning character in the serie. Also raises the question why Jan Skocir (another Czechoslovakian soldier in H&D) didn't reappear. Guess we'll never know the true answer :P
It doesn't make a difference, at least not between a faction's uniform. In this game there's no 'Officer only' area or something like that. Get yourself an enemy uniform and you're good to go. A hat/helmet is not needed to disguise yourself, the uniform itself will do

Do the different uniforms provide any advantages? For example regular soldier vs officer? What about uniform only vs uniform and hat?
