Listen to this please! 1. NEVER dive with a snorkel in your mouth, if you black out your mouth cant close and you Will get water in your lungs! 2. Never swim to a seal or any water animal, the animal Will probably get scared and it may feel that you Will atack the animal so it will defence it self (just like in your video). If you want to dive real close, just stay and let the seal/fish come to you. If you want to you can try to cross it swimming line and it may swim directly to you.
While this may seem like a stupid restriction there's considerable evidence that messing with wildlife, even just coming up into their personal space, messes with their understanding of danger - which makes them more vulnerable to any number of threats. And in some cases it can interfere with their ability to mate, gestate (get pregnant), and bear healthy young. Observe from a respectable distance friends!
and that's not to harp on the video producers. They actually do alot to make the waterways cleaner and safer for wildlife (with cleaning up nets and lures and such) and help people appreciate what's out there. Probably just completely unaware of the potential consequences of attempting to get close to wildlife - beyond potentially losing a finger or 4.

Just some friendly advise from one free diver to another you should take you snorkel out of your mount when you are diving down because if you black out with a snorkel in your mouth instead of your body telling you not to breath you will and possibly drown keep up the vids thoe super sick !

In response to the person who asked why Jake should delete the Hawaiian Monk seal footage from the video, there are perhaps no more than 1,200 left in the wild of which 80-100 are around the main islands (there are 8). Not only are these seals protected under the Endangered Species Act, Hawaiʻi has made it a felony to cause harm to a Monk Seal with a penalty upwards to $50,000 and 5 years in jail. We love our Hawaiian Monk Seals and ask everyone to please don’t harass , harm or approach them. A seal may deem your innocent approach as harassment (as Hawaiʻi residents do), besides, these are large predators and can rip your face off. That should be reason enough not to approach them. I invite everyone to read up on these amazing and adorable animals. We need to protect them so everyone can live in a world that includes the Hawaiian Monk Seal. Jake, I just found your videos today and I truly admire your commitment to finding treasure, returning them to their rightful, and grateful, owners, assisting law enforcement by turning in all guns, and the love of the environment by removing trash from waterways. You should freedive in Flamenco beach Puerto Rico. The water is crystal clear and it’s the beach with the tanks on the coast. I saw 2 fish but didn’t go to far out. There are also coral reefs and lots of pelicans. It is truly beautiful. My sister and I found a boat anchor.

That seal that you saw was a Hawaiian monk seal they are very endangered and there's only about 2,000-3,000 left.
