  • This was filmed in the September Holidays when we normally head up the Cape for our yearly Fishing/Camping trip. We stayed at Muttee Heads for about 5 days until we were getting low on water before heading back.
Getting out to the mouth of the Jardine river isn't to bad but I wouldn't tow anything to big out as the tight is quite tight in places and would be a high chance of breaking something.
You are able to leave the boat in the water no drama's and launch it easily of the bank, however be aware that there isn't much room avaible especially if travelling in a group.
Crocodiles are all over the place so be very aware of them and no swimming. We jumped in the water at low tide in same small pools but be very aware that there is a lot that of things in the area. There was a Croc that watched us almost every night out the front of the camp, it would float past just as sun going down and sit on the edge of the mangroves.
The wind in the river itself is alright as is protected but out the front you get every bit of the trade winds so we only got to go out there twice in the time stayed. The tides weren't great ether to go up the river as the boat was high and dry for most of the morning till lunch time, so was also unable to go to far up the river.
We most likely be going back with the boat this year with much more knowledge of the area and will try to film a lot more, see what happens.
    Cheers

Yeah love it up there, we go every year in september. Done very well on jacks and barra this year as water was warming up fast when got there so they were fired up.
I lived in townsville for a while and do miss being able to have a sickie and go up to the Hinchinbrook for a fish. Bit of a drive now but

@@matthewharris-davies8368 yep we stopped there on way up and back this time on way to cape.
I used to go to those areas quite a bit when was up that way, could usually jag a jack or barra for a feed.
Bit different to down here, just come back from jumpinpin and couldn't even find a legal crab.

Yeah love it up that way. We used to go to Jannie creek on west coast and had to drop tyres down to 12psi or so. It can get so soft in some places.

Hi mate, love the vid. What do you think would be the maximum length boat you would tow up there to get to all the good spots, also single or dual axle?

    • @Lure_Loser
      @Lure_Loser  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

Hi mate, really depends where you want to go.
Single or duel axle would depend on weight of boat.
The last few years we have taken a 3.75m boat with 15hp on and a quad bike. We've found this a lot easier to get into some more shallow river areas and can launch boat with quad bike. But this setup is also very limited when comes to weather and trying to get to some reef ground.
But much easier and lighter to tow around also.
You'll never have the pefect setup to do everything really well unfortuntly.
