its funny how things turn around. masahiro ito, the environment artist behind Silent Hill's environment aesthetics, used diorama painting as inspiration for the texturing and style of abandonment for the games.
I thought the chain was 3D printed it looked so realistic. If I didn’t know it was a diorama I would have thought it was life size. Love the creepy themes of your pieces.
What fantastic worlds you (re)create. You know it’s a great miniature when you can’t tell it’s a miniature. Your scale is spot on. Also, kudos to your wife for getting involved!
Oh I love it! Great work, I was half expecting the door to rattle or burst open any second. 😂😂😂😂 Shout-out to your wife for helping make some diorama details. And the light fixture really makes the difference, it looks so real.
I’m so glad you like it! I was really happy when I first put in the light and saw the shadows it made on the walls. One of my favorite parts of this project for sure!
As always... absolutely stunning work! Your attention to detail and modeling ability are amazing! Every time you do a cinematic shot at the end of your videos, I have a hard time telling it's a small-scale diorama. I look forward to your videos each week.
I really appreciate that! I think my filmmaking ability makes my modeling skills look better than they are 😆 but thank you, so glad to have you watching!
You have definately got me going on the old Hackney hospital. I hadnt thought about it for ages but theres a lot of really ancient stuff around here. Like I said in your doorway video, it was a Workhouse for the poor (you got put there whether you liked it or not back then, if you were poor they would separate whole families and even really littke kids had to work. Men in one wing, women another and kids another again. It was like this from 17 something to 1834 when it became a hospital. Lots of atmosphere...you can google it..the old Hackney Hospital in Homerton High Street, East London. Its less than 10 minutes from my flat. I loved the door and you couldnt tell which was the photo and which the miniature. I think you would have a great time in London as its just so old! Anyway, I am going out this week and take some pictures of anything interesting around here and we will see what I come up with. You are seriously, the best channel I have found in ages and you certainly got my brain and dark side fired up! I will let you know what comes of it! I love Silent Hill too btw! I dont have a partner with good handwriting so I tend to use decals or stencils for stuff like that. (Of course my partner wouldnt be happy that I am criticising his penmanship online lmao!).
After the fact, for threading tight small holes try a curved leather needle and filament to pull the chain through so you're not fighting try chain's tendency to collapse on itself.
The overhead light creates great shadows . I haven’t used pigment powder , might have to buy some to try . It looks good on the baseboards of your diorama .
Finding your art was awesome!! I started with the hobby of miniatures. Although I don't like dollhouses. I came across some infinity nook books and I found what I love. Your videos help with the inspiration. You even like Silent Hill: The Room!!! Which is an underrated amazing game from the saga. Keep going with your art!!!

I’m glad I’ve inspired you! Definitely get making things! TH-cam is honestly the best, there are so many great creators on here to learn from. I’d say just watch some videos and give it a go. But I’m happy you found me, glad to have you here!
Super video, I really love your videos that just keep to the point. The materials listing and links are also incredibly helpful too. Please do keep them coming.
I've watched this video so many times it's one of my favourite makes. Saving for a 3D printer as they really add amazing details. Are you going to put the locks and hook files up on your website? Thank you for your amazing work and being an inspiration
i appreciate the macabre, have you ever tried recreating any of the lotr scale models? i.e. minas tirith etc. i know they used a lot of scale models, keep up the good work, you are talented
Amazing! I am a new subscriber so learning all about what you do… The 3-D printing is so awesome. I love those tiny locks! Do you use a magnifying glass? That cold ceiling light works well for this scene. I’m guessing you know, but you can use air dried clay with a rubber mold to make trims. Also, I know you’re reproducing a particular scene, just wondering about cobwebs? It’s absolutely fascinating to watch these and the results are gorgeously grim. Thank you!
Thank you!! Haven’t used a magnifying glass, but I’ve thought about it haha. I have not made trim with clay yet, but I have seen people do it. Cobwebs can be tough, I haven’t really done them in my projects so far, but @bentleyhouseminis did one technique in this video: th-cam.com/video/DcJCT_T4kgU/w-d-xo.html I’ve always seen people use hot glue and pull the glue strings out to make them.
@@AbandonedMiniatures Thanks for your reply. Yes, I just remembered, after reading this-my dad used to make tiny ships out of walnut shells, toothpicks, and cloth, and he made itty-bitty ropes (proper name sheets) out of glue, draped from one “mast” to another. Sheesh! 60 years ago... ☺️
First, you do some amazing work. I was wondering if you minded sharing some of your methods of lighting and photography you use to get these beautiful shots. Maybe in a future vid?
Thanks! Yes, actually I’m posting a video tomorrow that’s a new diorama but I show a little bit of how I light and shoot it. Did a little more complicated stuff with it this time. I do want to sure more of the photography/video side of it in the future, just not totally sure what that will look like yet.
@@AbandonedMiniatures Awesome! Can't wait! I want to get into setting up scenes for miniature photography using gaming terrain and gaming miniatures. Thanks for the reply!
I enjoyed this video. Wonder what your take on Crime Alley would be. Park Row, later called Crime Alley, was a historical landmark in Gotham City and was rather infamous for being the location where Thomas and Martha Wayne were murdered.
never played to the sillent hill games, the first one scared the shiet out of me when i was a kid. but i know some of , so really good job rendering that door.
Hello! Just subscribed! You are very talented! Impressive! My compliment! Just ask where did you take (or how did you made) this two pieces at 2:37 and at 3:10 (I don't know even how they are called in English)? How about the door? How did you made it? And what program is at 1:11 Ciao da Napoli!
Amazing build! Tragically unsubscribed channel! Could I ask a question please? Do you have to "fix" the pastels after application to prevent smudging? Thanks
Thanks! Yes, I fix them with diluted isopropyl alcohol usually, but I also will add them without fixing sometimes because it gives a more dusty look. These dioramas don’t get handled so it’s not really a problem of them smudging or wiping off.
Bro, you been subbed to my channel for a little bit now and I'm just coming through to check yours out. I am pleasantly surprised by the concept of this channel and the work you're doing.
