      He said the best thing he ever did for himself was move to Australia and he said that it taught him to stand up for himself, as when he went on that stupid UK show big brother and the producers tried to intimidate him and stop him from leaving as he wanted to, he stood up for himself and took no bull and he said he could never have done that before but living in Oz had given him the confidence and strength to stand up for himself. He is a great asset for us.

    I was a teenager in the 70's and sadly there was not one Leo Sayer fan in my entire high school, so I resolved to be a closet fan of Sayer, Rod Stewart and Elton John - so what the heck was the music vibe ...? KISS, ACDC, Led Z, and all that - which I couldn't abide. Sayer is a rare and gifted artist who for me gave new meaning to originality and expression. One of my many favourites in an eclectic 60s-90s mix of music from Glam Rock, Punk, Synth Pop, Indi Rock, Russian Trance and more.

      @@whathappenedtothem_"You Make Me Feel Like Dancing"? It is *NOT* a Rhythm & Blues song! This is Straight-out Pop. If Doug Parkinson had done it, or even Renee Geyer, they could've given the song an R & B treatment, but they are *the only two people outside the USA* who are capable of doing genuine R & B. but sadly Doug has passed away and Renee is now in retirement.

    • @neilforbes416
      @neilforbes416 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Those who judged this as "Best R. & B. Song really haven't got clue number one as to what is Rhythm & Blues. The genre began to die out in the late 1960s as it softened into what became known as "Soul" Music. R. & B. had a gritty edge to it, it was best demonstrated in songs like "Fannie Mae" by Buster Brown(1959), "Stranded In The Jungle" by The Cadets(1956), "Working In The Coal Mine" by Lee Dorsey(1966), "Let's Stick Together" by Wilbert Harrison(1962).

      when this song came out there were really no genres of music, it all got played on every station. There was really only hard rock and country and stations other than hard rock and country that played a mix of R&B, pop and soft rock. In the late 70's did the record studios start giving songs categories like Disco, Pop and so forth

    • @neilforbes416

      @@kellycranford3592 As I said, "You Make Me Feel Like Dancing" is just a straight-out Pop song. Not taking anything away from it persay, just recognising it does *not* befit the genre of R. & B.

      I know that mastering English seems to be a challenge for many people, but here’s a simple way to work out if your grammar is ok, or not. If you drop the words, “and my my friends” from your sentence, you are left with, “me loved our 80’s music”, which of course shows a total lack of grasp of English grammar.
      Try stating, “ my friends and I”. Plain, simple, correct English. You are welcome. No charge.

    The Three Dog Night cover of 'The Show Must Go On' also topped the Cash Box chart and went to #4 on Billboard in the US.
    There's the old story that his record company got Sayer to record Hammond's songs over his own when they tried to break him as a performer in the US, which didn't please Sayer in the slightest. I suppose the royalty cheques might have soothed his anger.

      One word...e-nun-ci-a-tion! It's hard to understand what you are saying. It sounds like you have marbles in your mouth. I have no room to talk, perhaps, but slow it down a bit and enunciate. All the research you have done deserves to be clearly delivered. It would be a huge boost to your channel.

      One other thing, he tends to drop the last syllable or slur the last syllable so you can’t tell if something was Past or Present tense with an ED on it or not. L’s are particularly problematic in the middle of words, as well. There’s a reason that people in theater are trained how to speak so people can understand them. It’s not by accident that you can understand them. They work on it.

    1976 Summer, Saint Tropez, some roadside shack serving chicken & chips to campers: We ordered as 'Moonlighting' was playing on the Dansette record player. It finished, then started again because the arm of the record player was left open. It continued to play, and play, and we counted the number of times. Seventeen times we heard this song before we left. You can't really forget something like that. "She stares at him with his beard unshaved; wonders at his power of staying awake..."

    Narrator is running words together and even leaving out letters of words. Doesn't sound automated so I guess it's a speech impediment. If so, I'm sorry. If not, then try slowing down a bit.
