I love to see these dream rooms, please show as many as you can. But I also enjoy seeing what working class people can put together with limited resources.
A stunning space, when the opportunity for no compromise is available the results are undeniable. The interior design room dimensions and finish is masterful, I hope this room brings inspiration to many people that the look and feel is very personal and to always work towards your budget, clearly in this space money was no object and you can see by the ingredients that is is a world class. Congratulations David on creating this space, and congratulations Tony, you have raised the bar for cinema tours and production.
Mick - a legend in the home cinema creator space - always sharing positivity and genuine praise for people considered to be competitors in the space. Appreciate your kind words, and yes, we are working hard on higher production value content as I start step into the professional/paid space for video content! Can't wait to create the video of your awesome private cinema mate.
Lumagen is every bit as good as MadVR. Having seen both extensively, I can't really split it. Wavetrain are also a distributor for Lumagen through their other company Cogworks so it would make sense to sell Lumagen :) I agree about K-scape however it is illegal in Australia due to distribution rights so you can't buy it here sadly - otherwise I'd have one!
Beautiful room. Love getting ideas. I've had a projection room put in behind my theater, and I have a Christie Eclipse that should arrive in the next couple of weeks. Electrical should go in tomorrow. My next phase of this will be to have the theater itself redesigned. Lots to consider after watching these videos.
There are home theaters, and there are home theaters with Christie projectors 😃 Was hoping to see that they opted for the Eclipse, but this is incredible.
So lovely to see one of these premium installs that has a wonderful physical media collection still. HT video have become so boring to watch of late as its always the same, look, gear and no collection to admire
The room presence itself is outstanding let alone the equipment used. Can definately see why it got the award. Awesome room tour tony and congrats to Dave and the owner!
What an insane / amazing room! Although there is a downside..... It reminded me of when I had an Audi S3, it was the nicest car I'd ever been in, then I met this guy who had a 3 week old Audi S8 and he took me for a drive, it was a stunning car and crazy fast so when I got back into mine, it felt like driving a chicken shed haha, I can imagine how rubbish my DIY theater would be after experiencing something like that, that PJ must be like watching an OLED. Also thanks for more great content Tony, its awesome to see you at over 40k subs now, I remember when you crossed 5k and 10k, I've been away for a bit and can totally notice how much you've stepped up the production of your videos and thats from them already being great in the first place. Looking forward to more room tours as ever.
Mate! Good to hear from you.. Hope you're doing well. Don't ever reduce your own room based on another room. You built what you could manage for your personal means and constraints of the room. This room is not an average room - it's what someone with money can do and companies like Wavetrain Cinemas are specialised in designing and implementing these high end rooms. Appreciate your comments, we are really trying to step up the production value - it's such a small niche on TH-cam but if we push harder to raise the bar it can only mean bigger and better things and more enjoyment for you... the viewer :)
Hope you dont mind me chiming in, I know how you feel, the car analogy makes perfect sense. But when you think about it, if money was never an issue we would just get exactly what we want, I think the art of inspiration is lost, everyone wants instant perfection. My cars have evolved based on my inspirations and my cinema has evolved over the past 30 years to what it is today. Each step and upgrade has given me immense satisfaction and while what I have now is not by some standards perfect, when the lights are out, all that matters is the vision and audio, all that concerns me is the experience. The room look and feel is so personal and based on how much money you can throw at it. The sound system, well that can be very cost effective and the movie experience can be amazing. I have been inspired by the DIY community, and even though I am a professional the way I approach home cinema today is due to the inspirations I have taken from watching Tony’s videos over the years, its the excitement that the average person has when their room is complete that matters, the pride of making a special place your own space. The creativity shown by the DIY community is my driving force to help them create the best they can.
How well does the Lumagen player upscale with regular Blu Ray discs going through the Christie projector, to compensate for the compression of audio and video files with the HDR tone mapping, with Kalaidescape having better audiovisual quality as a library type server with larger solid state storage and the DCI content via Bel Air Cinema on DCI compliant projectors which is the ultimate cut of movies just like they are released in commercial cinemas? Hoyts has just opened their latest complex in South East Queensland in Ipswich with D-Box and it is likely to have the latest Christie laser projection with the seats all being a luxury style.
I think the Barco Braggi Cinemascope would be "as good as it gets" for this setup. It's native 21:9 aspect ratio is way better than screen masking as a solution for wide-screen movies.
Thx for this Video. I wonder if there is no Kaleidescape in Australia. Germany its rare but US guys with money all use it. Even I have an Apple TV 😂. First step towards this dream setup.
Amazing home theater. Surprised to see him go with the Panasonic 820 though. Great player but a bit on the cheaper side compared to more high end players like the UB9000
I thought the same thing but the reality is that it was absolutely stunning regardless. The Lumagen and Christie made streaming on Disney plus look better than most people's end game setup with a K-Scape! Remember too, this journey never ends... there is always something else to upgrade haha!
christie?never heard of it,how is this brand compare to epson, jvc?i plan to build a home theater and still wondering jvc or epson, about to project on a 130~135 screen size
Christie pj are more for pro home cinema's for big screens. These pj's are big and make quite some noise also. Not really comparable with the prosumer sonys and jvs
I think he said there was 4x 15" subs. Each to their own & all that but if I was spending the insane amount of money thats gone into this room I would certainly want something a lot beefier.
The D-Box brings a lot to the table. The room was definitely well pressurised and loads of bass. Seat to seat consistency was also very very good. Don't just go off numbers... I was in the room and I've toured many many rooms, and the bass was not lacking at all.
@@BuildMontage there’s no doubt that mid bass, from 30-50hz was impressive, and the fact that you’re saying it was consistent seat to seat says a lot about the calibration. Just saying 18’s should easily hit into the teens, my guess is the cabinet volume is just not enough to get it to go that low.
It comes down to what you want from the experience, a nice balanced room or ball-tearing bass with every footstep? The subs are 15" as well - and the room is very well tuned.@@mojojojo_BB
Not sure of a like for like conversion as Austraian products will attract a premium in the USA as well in reverse so some of the gear may be more expensive in USA.
@plexfam yes that’s the wholesale cash rate. Conversion into actual dollars will be less. Also products will cost differently in USA to Australia. Regardless…. Lots of money 😂
Bass performance is terrible, so much information under 25hz. Basically missing the visceral experience and extra drama. No Eq over 1000hz with 125db efficiency? Is there at least dsp so it doesn't sound ear bleeding bright and uncomfortable? Everything else looks superbly finished and quality.
Its an interesting thing to hear from people who haven't actually been in the room. The D-Box does make up for a lot of those "ULFE" you may be referring to. The room is very well designed from an acoustic and speaker placement perspective. I was IN the room and the seat to seat consistency was excellent. The bass was tight and punchy, and the D-Box added an extra layer of enjoyment. I do agree that the room was bright, but David's reasoning is that the reason not to EQ above 1000hz is because feels the room should be designed in such a way that it's not necessary. I'm not speaking for him, just information I've gathered from chatting to him. Anyway, room is next level, the audio and visuals are beyond anything attainable by most people and it was awesome to get a peek into that reality.
Its not like that... if you love over the top bass that shakes your insides then no it doesnt do that - however it is capable of pretty high SPL and the balance in the room is quite good. It's basically a very cohesive room and experience and the top end of what you would experience in a dedicate home theater. I personally don't like to have my insides rattling if someone closes a door in a movie - its consistent with what you're watching @@AA-ws3vd
Not really, just a very private person who doesn't want his identity revealed - I didn't even meet them. This is completely understandable and I have had this request for tours I've done which cost less than a single seat in his room. Also, I'm probably guilty of trying to make it a little dramatic for the video as well..
