An update to my previous comment, the farm does still work however I noticed there was a few spiders spawning on various levels. Moved a couple cats, it wasnt a big issue. But in case anyones wondering why they might be getting spiders, The open trapdoors DO COUNT as solid blocks for the spiders to spawn on. @thelastoutlaw7204 uhhh well, I would say it depends on your needs and how much afk you're willing to do. I don't need a whole bunch at any given time myself, and I'm okay just afking for a few hours or overnight, so don't see myself making more than my 6 layers I have now. @ColonelSanders-kk1up you do not need to go more. The very first level is more or less at the bottom of the spawning sphere around the player so you stay at the level specified in the video. All bonus layers are within that sphere
@ColonelSanders-kk1up no worries! Idk if you saw my other comment as well but the trap doors count as spawnable blocks, so to prevent spiders you'll want to add 1 carpet to each side of each level, just right next to the middle trapdoor. Glad to help, Colonel. I love your famous bowls.
@@zimknxckb4ck you can wait in the deathroom but it won't be as efficient since you also have chunks under you being loaded (meaning they will spawn creepers). this really slows your farm down. if you want to wait in the death room you have a couple of options: 1. build the farm really high up so that there are no caves or spawnable blocks within the mob sphere even if you are in the death room. 2. spawn proof the entire area with torches or slabs in the entire mobsphere around the deathroom.

I built the single-level version in Java, single player survival only, hard mode, over an ocean, included cats, corrected the carpet placement so that spiders wouldn't spawn next to the opening, AFK'd at y level 120, for 1 hour, and acquired 95 gunpowder. I feel like something is wrong here. Edit: Found an unexpected light leak in my build, so I closed that and then AFK'd for 4 hours. The result was 403 gunpowder so not much of a rate difference compared to before.
@@krispykrackerr Well, for me, it was the landing zone below the scaffolding. I thought it would be fun to use slime blocks instead of just water since I'm already over an ocean, so I can jump from the AFK spot, land on the slime blocks, and go flying up again before making a big splash in the surrounding waters. But the slime blocks were not just on the roof of the tunnel leading toward the kill chamber, they WERE the roof of the tunnel. So, I replaced those with solid blocks and then put the slime blocks on top of those. I doubt you have the same problem I did, but still, it pays to question each of your assumptions about the build in order to narrow down the problem. Best of luck to you!
Yes,it actually helps your farm to better as the other mobs won't take the mob cap it is recommended to light up the area caves and other stuffs so only creeper spawns

@@jeremyboerchers6815 Or you can make your way up be a water stream, leave the cats down, "swim" up, and once you step on normal blocks the cats teleport to you
Tip to anyone using the AFK platform, using glass all around works for other farms so if it is not a inconvenience I would use it. I am getting around 12 stacks an hour with two layers doing so. Also a comment below suggested using the lowest render distance and that seems to be working as well hope this helps.
as long as there isnt light coming in the part where they should spawn youll be fine, just cover the trap doors with slabs or a full block if you are layering it
The only thing i will add is couldnt you face one of the hoppers into the other and only use one collection chest? Im not great with contraptions in minecraft, better at it irl 😂 great build i like the old school windows pc "your waiting..." hour glass look. Ima try this one though i usually dont mess with hostile mob farms i break them easy...
@@GamemodeCreative-cg7li that's understandable more space to let it run and fill. I just can't sit too long I usually try to convert any farm to a drop kill so I can feel like I'm doing something and if I can't then I still check it too often to let two whole chests fill.
If you get 119 gunpowder per 10 minutes, then in 1 hour (which is 60 minutes), you'd get: 10 ----- x 119 = 6 x 119 = 714 60 So, you'll get 714 gunpowder from the creeper farm in 1 hour of AFK. So title is a click bait?

I built the single-level version in Java, single player survival only, hard mode, over an ocean, included cats, corrected the carpet placement so that spiders wouldn't spawn next to the opening, AFK'd at y level 120, for 1 hour, and acquired 95 gunpowder. I feel like something is wrong here.
Edit: Found an unexpected light leak in my build, so I closed that and then AFK'd for 4 hours. The result was 403 gunpowder so not much of a rate difference compared to before.
i have a light leak but not sure why. everything is covered with a non transparent block. any ides?
Nice video man
thank you!
@@Gorillo does this farm work in badrock/pocket edition.
Hey @Gorillo I want to know if the second floor of the farm is required @@Gorillo
@@FallRock59911 No, you can make this with just 1 layer. It just makes it more efficient the more layers you make
can i put troches around the farm will it still work?
Yes,it actually helps your farm to better as the other mobs won't take the mob cap it is recommended to light up the area caves and other stuffs so only creeper spawns
doesn't work on 1.21 java anymore
fr?
Thanks bro
Mine is working in 1.21
@@therealslimshady1234 Bro I just did it with 10 layers pls don't say me that💀
@@rubag.s.3625 is it working 😭😭😭
Instead of scaffolding you can use water elevator with soul sand. It's much faster
its to count the blocks
@@Ohjonas. Aye, fair enough
you could just use ladders instead of scaffolding for the people that cant find bamboo
or you can just tower up each time lol. but im assuming everyone's building the farm for rockets for elytra, so if u have an elytra you can just fly up
yeah i just spend like 1 hour looking for jungle biome when i thought about that
Can we make it from oak trapdoors?
It doesn't matter which trapdoors you use or which fullblocks you use (except glass ofcourse)
did it work in relm? cauese it's not working with me
Not working for me in the realm either. Did you manage to fix it?
Cool farm! Can you tell me what resource pack you are using for the glass, have been looking for one like that forever.
I don't know if there is a resource pack for that, but you can use optifine or continuity mod
Wouldn’t it work better up in the sky? Because then it wouldn’t be effected by the mob cap
Yes but it would be annoying to get the cats up there
Not really as you can throw the cats in a boat attach a leaf and climb up scaffolding to it legit what I just spent the last 3-4 hours doing 😂
Also surrounding the area in troches allowed for a buffed spawn rate of creepers
@@SamOlson-d2b I built five layers and I’m getting nothing, any ideas?
does this work underground
if you build this underground, other mobs will spawn in caves and not the creeper farm so you will get less rates
no creepers are spawning in mine :( any tips or fixes?
maybe put slabs above the trapdoors if u didnt cause light goes through the trapdoors and prevent mobs from spawning.
Funziona in bedrock?
no
do you have to use smooth stone and polished deep slate slabs or can you change it out for cobblestone
you can change it.
what if it isn’t working, i did all the steps
Same here no creepers are spawning
can this build be made with the cherry trap doors? i can’t get creepers to spawn
as long as there isnt light coming in the part where they should spawn youll be fine, just cover the trap doors with slabs or a full block if you are layering it
@@Grubyygusano figured it out doesn’t work on bedrock :/
The only thing i will add is couldnt you face one of the hoppers into the other and only use one collection chest? Im not great with contraptions in minecraft, better at it irl 😂 great build i like the old school windows pc "your waiting..." hour glass look. Ima try this one though i usually dont mess with hostile mob farms i break them easy...
Increased item storage........
@@GamemodeCreative-cg7li that's understandable more space to let it run and fill. I just can't sit too long I usually try to convert any farm to a drop kill so I can feel like I'm doing something and if I can't then I still check it too often to let two whole chests fill.
Does the farm only work if I am a certain distance away from it?
And this distance needs to be upwards or it can be to any side ?
smegma
If you get 119 gunpowder per 10 minutes, then in 1 hour (which is 60 minutes), you'd get:
10
----- x 119 = 6 x 119 = 714
60
So, you'll get 714 gunpowder from the creeper farm in 1 hour of AFK. So title is a click bait?
If you build like a 10 layer farm where you start placing those 120 scaffolding for the afk spot, at the bottom of the farm?, the top?
it didn’t work for me how do you fix it
Bro see your farm under not a cave than criper spawn in the cave
can i use birch trapdoors?
Broo, i just finished the whole farm and i was wondering why it didnt work, until i checked the comments and it doesnt work on bedrock (education edition). now im pissed
SAME
bro, Im not done but im MAD
Hi Gorillo I have a question to ask you I built the creeper farm that you showed but I have a small problem the creepers do not spawn inside I play in a server in java edition. I did everything the same as you.
mine dont work, anyone know why?
Doesn't work in bedrock
how to build it over the ocean like directly over ore some blocks above? Or like a certain distance like idk 100?
Place a lily pad then place blocks on top of it
does using oak trap doors let light in?
i used oak trap doors and even after i put slabs on top of the trap doors there was still somehow still light in the spawn room.
ik i used jungle
the opaque slabs should be enough to cover any light from trap door. im using copper which are basically transparent and its fine.
Not Working?...I had struggles with that farm, because not even one creeper would spawn...I tried everything...spawnproofing, afk height...BUT THEN I NOTICED I BUILT IT IN SPAWN CHUNKS...mobs can't spawn there!
You're a master. Thank you man!!!
Is this work on bedrock?
Yee
Creepers aren’t spawning for me. No mobs are. I followed it exactly. Not sure why it’s not working
Same for me lol
Hello, do you happen to know if this farm also works underground?
Hello mate just wanted to clarify any mob farm will work above or below ground. You just need to make sure a 120 block perimeter up,down ext is fully lit up so no mobs spawn there. Hope this helped
no spawns will be ass cuz caves
Why isnt it working for me
its for java
it doesn’t work i go 120 blocks above and none spawn, the moment i go down and check theres one creeper
are u on java?
Only problem I have is light somehow still gets in, bedrock edition. Not sure the best fix
just put normal blocks ontop instead of slabs
No so the mobs will spawn above it@@TwoBrainsOneTopic
@@truth_19then you could put slabs on top of the block
