- If you've ever had trouble figuring out how to get conversations started at the dinner tablethen you'l have no problem at Bea's Restaurant in Chattanooga, TN since you almost have to speak to the people at your table if you're going to get your fill. As Tennessee Crossroads found out, when you go to Bea's it's helpful to have brushed up on you "Lazy Susan Operators Manual." Watch this and more episode segments of Nashville Public Television's Tennessee Crossroads.
I was 18 when I came to Chattanooga from Chicago. My roommate from UTC turned me onto Bea's and since then, I've turned countless others onto Bea's. It is like one of those unknown treasures of Chattanooga. If there is better fried chicken to be had, I don't know where it is. So glad to see they are still going strong.
I've been eating Bea's All my life. Lots of good family fun times there. Always consistent. 10 thumbs up!!
My family has been going to this DELICIOUS Southern comfort food restaurant now for several decades. We love the food, the atmosphere, the friendly staff & customers, & we have a lifetime of great memories at Bea's. Though we now live out of the area, we still visit Bea's often when we are in town. We never miss a chance to eat that fried chicken!! Our family definitely rates this place 5 stars :)
ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. THERE'S NO OTHER PLEASE LIKE IT IN THE WORLD. I'M DISABLED NOW SINCE 1991 AND I DON'T GET TO GO BACK ANYMORE. BUT I SURE LOVE IT AND MISS IT.
The lazy Susan idea was brilliant!
I have watched several of these segments now...they all look good, but this looks like the best!
Sounds like a great place to visit. Never heard of using a lazy Susan in a restaurant before.
went there in the late 70's and the early to mid 80's with my grandparents who are dead now, they lived on sand mtn in ider alabama and my parents and my brother would drive up to visit them from mobile al and we always went to bea's.GREAT FOOD, EVEN BETTER MEMORIES
I spent the first 4 years of my life in Chattanooga(Ooltewah precisely) and since my aunt to this day still lives down there, when I was growing up we'd go down there yearly and always stopped at Bea's. Haven't been there in a couple years but i remember that fried chicken and peach cobbler like i just had it yesterday. Southern food..so delish! Also, the atmosphere was always refreshing.
That waitress was adorable. I hope this place is still going strong. Great atmosphere.
if I lived there, my nickname would be TANK
I love Chattanooga and never miss eating at Bea's Restaurant! I've been eating there for more than 45 years.
Knew the grandmother and then her daughter took over and then her three sons got it when she passed away.
I love the food there and the opportunities to sit and visit with other people. Bea's Restaurant is on Dodds
Avenue - not a fancy place so be casual. I'm almost 73 now and hope to fit a trip to Bea's in my budget as I
am now on SS and don't travel as much as I used to. I miss Bea's very much. I now live in Franklin, N.C.
I used to tell all my radio listeners about Bea's and so many of them would call me at the station to thank me.
I've been eating at Bea's since I was a kid. Good country cooking.
I’d love to visit there. You’re lucky!
How are they handling the scamdemic over reaction? I can't imagine there are very many buffet type places working right now. :(
are you also a fat American???.
Me too! Many memories :)
Can’t help but wonder how this guy is doing? This was 14 years ago and looks like a great place!!
I’m from Australia and this looks great! Southern cooking is the best. Would love to visit Tennessee one day.
Update: I ate at Bea's on Saturday 08-29-20. Excellent! While they are practicing safe guidelines, the service and food is as good as ever.
Well, that's a NICE PLACE TO EAT. I had my first food at Bea's back in 1,971 to 1,974 and the pinto beans it's delicious. My friend Vance and my self loved that place, and the service it's spetacular explendid. I still remember that one day my friend Vance drunk an all jar of the delicious tee, and he had to go outside because his bally was so big, but so big , that he had to . . . . . . .
Awesome place!
72nd anaversery man I love this place
Sit and spin! Loved it
they had their 60th anniversary today - 05-20-10 , the special was retro - ALL YOU COULD EAT FOR $ 1.00 , people lined up by the hundreds to get in .
Them Chicken And Dumplings Look Good 😋 Love That Idea Of Delicious Food On The Turntable 😉 👍
Hope you are surviving these rought virus times.
What a great idea lazy Susan
Bea's is the best restaurant in Chattanooga!!! My dad remember's racing down to Chattanooga from Harrison after church in the 60's to beat the crowd that would wrap around the building. It is a treat to sit down and enjoy the pinto beans, fried chicken, peach cobbler etc....Also, KFC has nothing on the fried chucken at Bea's. If you have never been you need to try it at least one if you love country cooking!
Looks so good would love to visit someday.
the "Best" cobbler I have ever had!
I bet those yeast rolls are good.i remember my elementary school in winder Georgia used to make those and I would fill up on those ,our class was the last to go to lunch so if there were any extra we could have all we could eat
banana pudding ? .... as Randy Machno Man would say, OH YEEEAAAH
Love that place
Been there several times love it they always make fun of me I never eat the chicken they tell me I got to try the chicken
The Dillard House in Dillard Ga. Does the same thing ,you just sit down and they bring out a little of everything and you can get seconds to eat but you aren't allowed to carry anything home with you
Now I'm drooling. I just ate and I'm hungry again. Thanks Tennessee Crossroads.
Best food in the world!
Omg I’d love to eat there
Love Beas .. Beast Chicken
Chainsaw Squirrel. Need to k ow what time tbey close on Wednesday
Ate there one time and loved it and then later on I moved next to a guy whose brother used to work there and he told me that the recycle the food so they just reheat it and bring it right back out and put it on another Lazy Susan and in his exact words don't ever eat there
I promise this would be worth the trip if youns feel froggy 🐸
I'd love to tell you about my experience of this place
And I bet you'd say you remember the story
If I think of it the next time we talk I'll tell you 😅
Ok I'll leave you alone now, so I can finally eat everything I can get my hands on 😁
LOVE YOU SO MUCH PUNKHEAD ❤️
Yummmmmm!
my that a pot of beans
Was that "trying not to sink" ?
Where is this restaurant located exactly?
I can't do the eating with strangers.
Get to know them and they won't be.
Good deal like Hank Hill
I feel like there's like at least 7 men there named Ricky Bobby.
Went with my dad and step mom...named Bea...when I was a kid. I hear its priced too high now. Also in this pandemic I bet they are having terrible problems with the open tables and spinning food. Besides Id rather eat alone.
I grew up in Chattanooga and ate here many times. While some regard it as legendary, to me their food is lackluster and NOBODY who knows anything about southern hospitality or southern cooking for that matter would have the audacity to put a sign on their wall that says "Please don't waste food you will be charged extra". Yea... I won't be going back. This place may have been around for a long time but there comes a point in time that all things need to die. This place has passed its expiration point. I do not recommend.
You're a very big crybaby~ Guaranteed you're a bachelor~
im not anti social, but if you eat here you are sorta forced to meet people, you cant have a private convo if your with someone. i feel like im taking food that someone else wants if i prefer more chicken or fish. all in all it was the most uncomfortable dining ive ever had. from sitting right beside someone eating that i dont know to waiting on them to put more chicken on the annoying lazy susan, ill never eat there again. some people like it but its not for me, and i live here
Yes, I agree. I'll never go just because they have the lazy Susan.
until a black person walks in LOL!!
Please don't rap ever again.
😂😂
