    Very very sick! I've been recently digging up old spent reels and using their EOSG and CV data for some pretty bananas sequencing with René !

      Sounds like fun! I pretty much never delete Reels, you never know what you'll find in them later :)

      Thanks for watching! Hope you can make it to office hours soon. They're archived on a playlist but of course it's more fun to be there while they're happening :)

    I’m gonna have to try to patch up a Turing Machine using this trick - a Wogglebug looper sounds like it could be fun.

    Looking forward to this one, as I have attempted to use Morphagene for that and was unsuccessful.

    Oh! I had never thought of this! I'm usually frustrated by sequencers, I feel the music they make is not the type of "repetitive" I like, so I mostly play kinda droney music, where I use a looper pedal and a reverb after a 0-coast or any other synth to build up layers. I recently finished building a TTSH, and I'm definitely going to give animation to my patches putting one of my looper pedals before the envelope follower. Thanks!!!

      Have fun with that TTSH! Thanks for watching, and happy patching!

    This is reason why Morphagene is back into my wishlist. Amazing trick with endless potential! Even stereo output is unplugged =)

    I'm pretty new to modular. But I just have to say. You guys are so fascinating. When I got the Morphagene that's one of the most attractive things about it to me. Using audio as a CV source. I've mult'd it out to many different places and had endless fun and amazing results. Also the IG post of using pencil led .... come'on!!!!! All I do is experiment and watch MN vids and learn. Cant get enough. Something that might seem simple to you might be a revelation to someone else!

    Cool. Never occurred to me to record the audio for CV duties. I've used birdsong into the morphagene to modulate a filter and that can work quite nicely too. Thanks for the video.

    WICKED big Thx for the Tip. Excellent utility 😮🎉 In my TMMM case, suppose I can maybe record the Wbug VCo using 0-ctrl for custom gesturing? will give it a go.. if not i'll bring in 0-coast and rec that one instead 🤔 or i guess any ol recording can be used... tapping on the case for instance ha

      I’d recommend cycling a MATHS channel at audio rate for your audio source if you don’t have a VCO. Have fun!! ⚡️

    This worked just fine with my Qu Bit Nebulae as well. Note: he is not kidding when he says longer phrases work better.

    I've always wondered what's on the Make Noise bookshelf. Is there a "suggested reading" list anywhere? Also, very timely video-I was JUST talking with a friend about CV recorders hours before this video was announced! Excited to try some new experiments with Morphagene.

      Thinking about doing a "bookshelf" video at some point, but the shelf here is quasi-random relevant selections from Walker's personal collection. Includes four books by Curtis Roads, as well as books by and about James Tenney, La Monte Young, John Cage, Eliane Radigue, Sun Ra, Ornette Coleman, Daphne Oram, Brian Eno, Allen Strange, Gordon Mumma, Iannis Xenakis, Barry Truax, Val Wilmer, and also the highly recommended essay collection "Audio Culture."

    Great! Is it possible to record a sequence with the Rene+DPO and then modulate the DPO?

    • @MAKEN0ISEMUSIC
      @MAKEN0ISEMUSIC  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If it's tuned/quantized then it can be tough to dial in especially if using the modDemix, which scales signals differently.

    • @haythemzakaria7006

      @@MAKEN0ISEMUSIC Thank you for the answer. This is what I thought when I was testing too. However, I am getting a good result using the mimeophon as a vco.

  • @davidrosset4457
    @davidrosset4457 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Is the CV Out of the Morphagene carring the audio signal? And then the audio goes to the Final on the DPO?

    • @geraldgoodiii6993
      @geraldgoodiii6993 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No it sends cv that follows the amplitude of what is playing in the MG

    • @MAKEN0ISEMUSIC
      @MAKEN0ISEMUSIC  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gerald is correct! We're not actually using the Morphagene's audio outputs here, instead we're "encoding" CV into it via the amplitude of the recording, which is then recreated by the envelope follower on the CV output.

    • @davidrosset4457
      @davidrosset4457 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh, so you are using VCO A’s amplitude to modulate VCO B through the Morphagene ?

    • @MAKEN0ISEMUSIC
      @MAKEN0ISEMUSIC  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@davidrosset4457 that's right. or to put it another way, the amplitude of the waveform as it appeared at modDemix output when modulated by Pressure Points. That amplitude appears at CV output and is used to modulate VCO B - or whatever you want.

  • @EricMorello
    @EricMorello 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I thought this was going to be using the audio out, but the envelope follower makes a lot of sense. That said, why not use the audio outputs (too)?

    • @MAKEN0ISEMUSIC
      @MAKEN0ISEMUSIC  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      In this case, the audio that was created was just a droning oscillator output at varying amplitudes. But if you want to use an audio recording instead of "recording" a CV source, then you could definitely do that, then get the audio and the envelope both available to you at once.

    • @EricMorello
      @EricMorello 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MAKEN0ISEMUSIC What I meant to describe was a scenario where you'd take a function like a channel of Maths, record it with the Morphagene audio input, then output the recorded "CV" to a modulation destination via the audio output. Taking the concept further, you could record another function into the right channel and have two lanes of CV. I don't think it would work well with "notes" but to control filter cutoff, etc...maybe?

    • @MAKEN0ISEMUSIC
      @MAKEN0ISEMUSIC  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@EricMorello It could work to some degree if the changes are very quick. The Morphagene's inputs and outputs are AC coupled meaning most sub-audio frequency signals will just be recognized as a flatline.

      Thinking out loud here: Would be great if you’d make some sort of printed matter out of these much appreciated videos, a serie of journals based on your notes and ...or maybe it’s what I should start doing while patching and (or) viewing this channel of yours. To separate and slow things down - TH-cam can get quite hectic sometimes. Anyway I guess I just want to give thanks for your work both as Instrument makers and guides.

      We are using the Black & Gold Shared System here, our flagship at $4495. We also make cases and individual modules so you can build a smaller system or build up a little at a time, and we make a standalone patchable synth, the 0-Coast (fully patch-compatible with the larger systems) for $499.
