This is a great idea as a place to share knowledge especially as a small or private business idea. I’m 3 years from retirement and looking at the charter business as the second chapter. Best wishes for the channel.

I still dont understand crew salaries I thought captains and crew salaries vary by alot are you saying every crew person makes $1000 a foot so on a 50 ft boat your paying 100k for 2 people? I read captains can make up to $120k

It still varies and different companies and ones will offer different packages. However in the Caribbean it is fairly standard.

This is great information. Thanks. I am looking to start the entire process myself. From yacht purchase to chartering and even captaining it myself.
I have so many questions to answer in order to write a business plan. Are you available for a conversation?

You can’t really trust insurance brokers though. They lie to you. I shopped 5 brokers and with each, I begged for options. 2 of those brokers brought me only one option with one carrier. The other brokers found other options which were way better.
