I guessed not everyone can appreciate a good anime of it's not something from what they usually look for.. Hope you guys will do well in that future, it's so rare to see anime reactors react to Chinese animation... when seriously, there are so much quality content for donghua.

Yes i’d love it if you guys rewatch just to see more points that you guys missed so you could have more insight once you guys react to next seasons. Thanks for the reaction. Btw i just saw the bottom comment and I’ve actually been thinking about it while i was scrolling your channel for vids to watch. Tbh I appreciate channels that react to anime that aren’t usually reacted and aren’t very popular more. Yt is full of anime reacting channels that react to mainstream anime and super popular anime. But there are great shows that aren’t as popular. So thanks for that as well. Hopefully you guys can react to Houseki no Kuni too, if you haven’t already

Madam Yu doesn't hate Wei Wuxian. It's a matter of pride that she's so hard on her son. WWX's mother (Cangse Sanren) was the old crush of Jiang Fengmian but in the end, Cangse never returned his feelings and married his subordinate. Madam Yu knew of this and when WWX's parents died, Jiang Fengmian set out to search for their son and adopted him as his own which made Madam Yu think he was never over his old crush. Ultimately, Madam Yu never hated Wei Wuxian

Uh... yes she did hate him lol Even says so herself. If she never hated him, she wouldn't have treated him like she did. She's abusive af. She looked for reasons to punish Wei Ying, even if it was something EVERYONE else was doing right in front of her. I don't know how you look at her actions in the novel, donghua and manhua and think 'She never hated him really.' She did hate him. Her words, actions, and behavior speak volumes. She definitely would have cut off Wei Ying's hand if Lingjiao hadn't mentioned the supervisory office; she didn't give a damn about him after all and she didn't care how her husband felt about it.
Jiang Fengmian is no better since he let her keep going with her abuse and didn't actually love Wei Ying anymore than he had Jiang Cheng. This isn't a case of 'Poor Madam Yu' this is a case of 'Poor Wei Ying' for having to be in that toxic family. This seems harsh of the Jiang family but I'm not going to excuse anything they've done. Madam Yu abused a child because she was jealous and full of hate, and in turn that jealousy and hate effected her own children, creating a mini, male version of herself and a slightly more present version of Jiang Fengmian. Nothing excuses abuse; nothing.
Not looking to start a fight on this. If you believe she didn't hate him, thats on you. I know she did because the novel is very clear on it as is the donghua. They didn't sugarcoat her hate for him in the donghua(aside from not including certain scenes that showcased her hate), even if they tried to sugarcoat Jiang Cheng's.

I'd agree that she doesn't ACTUALLY hate Wei Wuxian. She just mistakenly believes that she does, and acts upon that belief. However, what she *does* hate is everything that Wei Wuxian represents. She cannot look at him without feeling pure anger, and therefore, she associates him with all of her hate.
What Madam Yu hates is the belief that her husband doesn't love her. The belief that he would choose another woman over her if he could. The belief that he would choose the other woman's son over their own. She hates the rumors that make their marriage seem scandalous. She hates that she has to raise the child of the woman who makes her feel like she's not good enough. She hates that, even dead, Wei Wuxian's mother's ghost still looms over their lives, largely in part to Wei Wuxian's presence. She hates Wei Wuxian, not because of who he is, but because of who his mother was, and all that his simple existence represents for them as a married couple and family.
But, ultimately, I'd like to believe that - somewhere deep down - she did actually care for him. She was harsh on him, but she was harsh on everyone. She was especially hard on him because his mother was the source of all her stress and self-doubts. She was harsh on him because she didn't *want* to care about him.
Madam Yu is an abusive bitch. But she secretly loves her family very fiercely. She'd do anything for them. I'd like to think that, if push came to shove, Wei Wuxian would be included in that.
And it's not really what was implied in the novels, but in this show (which is where I first experienced the scene) I was under the impression that Wei Wuxian and Madam Yu were both in silent agreement that, if she needed to cut off his hand to protect the sect, then so be it. But, in the end, it appeared to me like she was hesitating against her better judgement, and ultimately decided to leap at the chance to go after the whore who insulted her, rather than permanently injure the child she inevitably viewed as an adopted son and exceptional disciple.
She knew what she was risking when she went after the whore. She may be prideful and violent but she was also very intelligent. She had a cunning mind, the likes of which would understand where things were headed. She realized, as she hesitated to do what the whore ordered, that they would either be put completely under the thumb of the Wen sect, or that they would end up at war. Up to that point, she had made it very clear that under such circumstances, she believed keeping their heads down was the better play. That was what she always criticized Wei Wuxian over - he NEVER kept his head down, and it always led to trouble.
But in that moment, when faced with similar choices, she chose to fight and risk getting the family killed, rather than keep her head down. Was it pride? Partly. But I'm more inclined to believe that, in that moment, as she listened to a whore speak to her as though she were the superior, and as she looked into the eyes of a boy she raised, and as she listened to her son beg her to spare his brother, Madam Yu finally felt a twinge of understanding for the boy she had hated for so long. She had two paths laid before her, and the easier, safer path would only cost complete and utter obedience, as well as the hand of her hated rival's son. The other path, meanwhile, would inevitably lead to pain, difficulty, heartbreak and death. But there was a chance - however small - that her children (ALL of three of them) would make it through it, if she fought for it, and be free because of it.
She chose the harder path. Because at the end of the day, she and Wei Wuxian are a lot more alike than she would ever care to admit. Because, at the end of the day, she does, actually - kind of - care. She's a mother. And a mother would rather go out fighting to protect her children, rather than see any harm come to them.
As far as I'm concerned, that final choice she made was the choice of a queen, but also the choice of a desperate mother who knew there was no other way.
She'd just never admit to it.

Lady Mu assumed WWY was her husband son, they were in an arranged marriage and her husband used to love WWY mother before she married her husband and had wwy.
They died so when he saw child wwy abandoned he adopted him. His wife heard the rumors that wwy was his because of that and always treated him bad, along with him aways being mischievous and being better at cultivating than JC was

    Excited~!
EDIT- Ep 9 was definitely one of the worst episodes for me. I just can't get over how silly and cute that CG tortoise looks...
The song Lan Zhan played with the strings in the cave is the same one Wei plays with his flute in Ep 2 in the present time. That's how Lan Zhan recognized him. No one else would know that song but them. It's _their_ song. Wei still remembers the melody after all those years, even though he doesn't remember where he heard it from...

this video is like 6 months old so this is kind of irrelevant at this point but like yeah when I first watched/read this I found it hard to follow, it was my first exposure to the wuxia genre (like this specific genre of chinese historically inspired fantasy) & since it’s something most of the target audience would have exposure to already, they don’t bother explaining everything about the powers, monsters, clans & sects, etc. & every character is referred to by like 3 separate names (their given name, courtesy name, & title) which I found hard to follow at first too. But once you start to gain some familiarity it’s much easier to follow & understand. & yeah the donghua made the questionable decision of making wei wuxian’s design the same in his original life as well as his reincarnation as mo xuanyu, as well as making his clothes different from the other jiang clan members.. I assume this was done for the sake of simplicity and so people wouldn’t think he was a separate character, but I think it kind of backfired lol. Not a huge deal though
