The man with the sabre who beheaded the Wen Leader's eldest son was the leader of the Nie Clan, as well as Nie Huai Sang's older brother. After he died from violent blood burst, his younger brother Nie Huai Sang became the new Nie Clan leader.

Season 2 is more on about how Wei Wuxian slowly losing control of his demonic power that's why people ended up hating him. Season 3 or the final season will be release next year with 12 episodes. Last season will probably focusing on his previous life's death that connected to the present conflict(ghost hand) they are facing.
After watching both seasons, rewatching episode 1 feels like a revelation. Next season you will know who the Ghost General was and how the sister dies. ☻
That sword didn’t kill him. But it ultimately became the stygian tiger amulet that everyone says was evil and very very powerful. This was just until the part where he discovered dark cultivation. But it still hasn’t been shown how Jiang Cheng came to hate him and what happened to their sister. Also the ending guy was not Wen Ning. You guys already saw present Wen Ning. He’s the dead soldier. That guy was the guy from Nie Clan that was friends with Wei Wuxian when they were studying in the cloud recess.
All young masters of a clan were educated in different disciplines included music - some more than others. Wei Wuxian was very intelligent, he knew how to play the flute already

actually for me im kinda dissapointed in the donghua adaptation. like the animation quality isnt really that good for most of the episodes. (or as good as i wanted it to be ) i felt they saved the budget only for ep 1 (which looked really good) and it wasnt consistent from then on.

He plays the flute bc in ancient china the ideal man was a junzi (a gentleman) and a junzi is a young master from the gentry that’s highly educated and ideally masters the six arts Rites (禮) Music (樂) Archery (射) Chariotry (御) Calligraphy (書) Mathematics (數), obviously not all of them reach the ideal but wei ying is described as a genius that despite not being a noble and starting his education later than most of his peers, mastered the six arts at a young age and excelled in cultivation. Basically it doesn’t need to be mentioned bc the Chinese audience understands the lore lol
important foreshadow right there at 4:12, if you finish the story you will know why WeiYing looked so weak and why WenZhuliu reacted this way and looked surprised when he hitted WeiYing
