Definitely a positive change, although it will probably increase the usage of lightning lanes because people will realize that they can book them earlier than they thought. Thank you for letting us know so quickly about the change!
Agreed. I like that more people will know how to use the Genie, though. It makes me so sad when I would hear people say they only booked two rides because they didn’t know they could book more.

LOL - I just got back from a trip to Disneyland with some family members that are decidedly NOT Disney Parks people. They were trying to play the Genie Slots on their own early in the morning and they got very grumpy, so I can relate. Good thing they will have you to get things flowing more smoothly - my family certainly mellowed out a bit after I took over the Genie duties. 😂 Hope you all have an amazing time in the parks!
Thanks for the continued updates! I watched all your videos for a trip I had in early Aug and your info was incredibly helpful! One lesson I learned was forgetting to make my next pass right on time which affected the times for the rest of the day. Disney is not kidding when they say 2 hours from when you last booked.

We did it! Yeah, I think Genie is officially here to stay. My guess is that it will continue to evolve and once demand softens again, they'll add it as a sweetener with hotel reservations like they used to do with the dining plan. That may be a while off, though. Parks are still crazy packed.
I see others explain Genie+, but I’ve stopped listening to anyone else besides you. You are so good at explaining this and making me feel confident that I can have a great trip with my family using Genie+!!

Love your videos and they have been so helpful while planning my next trip. I wanted to also mention that DFB is claiming that you don’t actually have to scan in at your next ride to make your next reservation. They are reporting that you only need to wait until that ride window opens.
Stayed at pop century 80s building, farthest from the lobby. Had to order genie plus from near lobby as no cell service reached our 80s room on TMobile service. We were told not to order before their updates at 2am. So this meant a trek in the morning just to add genie plus.
Interesting - I’ve never heard of having to wait until 2am. That said, it’s very rarely sold out for the day and when it did, it seemed to happen later in the day so you should be good to buy it in the morning before you book your first Lightning Lane. Hi I have found your tips about genie plus very useful but I don’t think the refreshing works that well for me and as for the first couple days of my trip I Would refresh for 10-15 min and I would not get a better return time so I just gave up for the rest of my trip and just booked whatever was a good time

First of all- love these videos, hands down the best source for disney genie plus details! secondly- when you book lightning lanes does it automatically book them for everyone in your party or can different people in the party book lanes around the same time for different rides?
Hello! Sorry for the delay - we were in Anaheim for a week and we’re still getting caught up. When you set up the regular Genie (not Genie Plus) it will ask you to establish your party and this will be the default group of people who will be added to any Lightning Lane you book in your first park of the day. You can uncheck them when booking, but that takes time and can cause you to miss a competitive return time slot, so I suggest just canceling for those folks who want to do something else. Just tap on the reservation in My Day and click the cancel link. It will let you choose who to cancel for. You can choose to book a different Lightning Lane for those folks, if you wish. Note that at present, you have to add everyone to each Lightning Lane reservation manually if you park hop to another park. This is an annoying gremlin that I hope they fix soon. Disney seems to have made another change this morning for genie +. You can't purchase until 6am the day of your park visit. This is opening day after hurricane Ian. Been refreshing all night and the second 6am rolled around it let me purchase.

Hello! I have good news - you can book Individual Attraction Lightning Lanes or Genie Plus Lightning Lanes in multiple parks. You just have to make sure they are after 2pm if they are not in your first park of the day because you can’t park hop until 2. Thanks for watching!

Hi David! 1st off, thanks so much for the lovely comment! We were able to ride every top-tier attraction at Hollywood Studios the other night in just 3 hours. Slinky, Rise, Smugglers Run, Tower, Rock n Roller Coaster - all in 3 hours. I can’t guarantee it will be like that in a couple of weeks, but there’s a good chance. As for getting to the front of the line due to having mobility issues, there is actually a service for persons with disabilities called DAS. You can apply for it in advance of your trip. It lets you schedule a ride in the app and then you wait whatever the posted wait time is at that moment and then you can enter with your party via the Lightning Lane. Use of a scooter does not automatically qualify you for this service, though, because most every line at Disney World is designed to accommodate scooters and wheelchairs. Some cast members may offer to let you use the Lightning Lane, but that is not something I would expect to happen frequently (if at all). The good news is that you can choose to add genie at any point. I’d say start your trip without it and see how the day goes. It’s easy to add if you feel like you need it. Thanks for watching! 😃

Hi Nicole! We haven’t done any videos about the Individual Attraction Lightning Lanes, but you can book up to two per day and they can be in parks other than the one you start your day in as long as you have a park hopper ticket and you schedule the reservations after 2pm. Hope that helps! 😃
Great news. Might want to mention that the changes aren’t actually made in the app - it opens a browser and you *may have to (I did) enter your WDW username and password. Also, I noticed that my party of three were all separated, meaning when it first showed me the park reservations I already had, any changes I wanted to make I had to do it for each of us individually. I’m far enough out from my trip that I was able to easily cancel them all and then rebook them, which then showed all three of us together - much easier for future possible changes! (hope that makes sense!) Keep up the great work!
@@EarScouts yeah, I have no idea. I hadn’t logged on or fiddled with them for several weeks, so it could have been due to an update? I was glad to be able to cancel/modify easily and now we are all together. I’ll let you know if it changes again
I’m going to Disney in March. I have an Epcot question. If I book at virtual queue spot for Guardians at 7am, would I be able to also book at Lightning Lane for Test Track, Frozen or Remy’s as my first ride, since it’s probably unlikely my boarding group would not be called until late morning?
Yes - and if you have another person to help, you can actually book them both at the same time right at 7am. That’s actually the best way to do it. You are allowed to have overlapping rides, too, since each return window lasts for an hour. Thanks for watching! 😃
Hello! First I want to say how much my wife and I enjoy your videos! We will be using Genie+ for the first time on our trip this coming weekend and are so excited to "play the slots" especially after all of your helpful tips! :) One question, which may have been answered somewhere but I did not see...We will be a party of 4...if only 2 members of my party want to ride a LL ride, are the other 2 members eligible to book another LL ride at the same time or would we still have to wait for the first 2 to complete the ride or meet the two hour mark? Hi Dacia! Every member of your party is free to book Lightning Lanes with each other or independent of each other at any time. If half want to do Haunted Mansion and the other half want Pirates of the Caribbean, each group could book the ride they want for the same time as the other. Hope that helps! Thank for watching. 😃
Do you ever do videos on the monorail? I ask because I'm staying at the Contemporary next June. (I know that's a ways away) but didn't know if you had any videos that showed how long it takes to get to Epcot from the monorail resorts. Incase we wanted to rope drop Epcot. I love your videos!

Hi Lois! Everyone can book their first Genie Plus Lightning Lane at 7am. The only ones you have to wait until the park opens for are the Individual Attraction Lightning Lanes that are not included with Genie Plus. Hi Eli! I would suggest getting the park hopper option and planning a day where you do Epcot in the morning and then park hop to Animal Kingdom at 2pm. You’ll definitely want Genie Plus. Make sure you grab the Guardians of the Galaxy boarding group right at 7am along with one of the big three Lightning Lanes (Remy, Frozen or Test Track). When you get to Animal Kingdom, save Pandora for last. Plan to get in line at Flight of Passage just before the park closes. Remember that the animal attractions close earlier than the rest of the park at Animal Kingdom, so prioritize those. Hope that helps!

Hello! Thanks so much for this lovely comment. 😊 Disney’s WiFi is very spotty and unreliable. Some parks and lands within parks are worse than others, but I think it would be very frustrating to rely on Disney’s wifi exclusively. The wifi is better at the resorts, but that doesn’t help much with booking Lightning Lanes. 🙁

@@andree-annmenard-simard2558 My first suggestion would be to check with your Canadian carrier to see if you can just add a temporary roaming plan - that would likely be easiest and cheapest. You could also check at the airport when you land - there are usually pre-paid SIM cards available there for this purpose. I’m not sure about your resort. It’s possible, but I think the first two options I mentioned would be a better bet. Good luck!

Hi Michele! Staying at a Disney resort does not affect your ability to book regular Genie Plus Lightning Lanes at 7am. The only Lightning Lanes that are affected by staying on property are the Individual Attraction Lightning Lanes. For those, non-hotel guests have to wait until park opening time to book. There are usually still some Individual Attraction Lightning Lanes available, though Rise of the Resistance and Guardians of the Galaxy MAY sell out on busy days. If you are trying to book one of those, I’d recommend doing it as soon as the park opens. Hope you have a great trip - thanks for watching! 😃
I have bad news. I was in the parks today and they have eliminated the possibility of stacking for park hopping. The times show next available instead of times after 2. I double checked with guest experience and they confirmed they just closed this option. NUTS!
Yes. It definitely makes it difficult for grabbing anything other than the most popular rides when you are trying to stack for park hopping. Less popular rides will never show a late enough return time.

I’m going in a couple months with a 1 year old & was wondering if we could get around the system a little by using parent swap/genie plus together by one parent booking a lightning lane (then using parent swap so we both can ride in the fast lane) while the other parent books a different one for soon after (then using parent swap again) has anyone ever tried to do this?? 😅 I wonder if it would be possible & allow us to have more of a guarantee on riding the popular rides (even multiple times maybe)
Hi Abby! This is a clever idea, but I have been told by Cast Members that the expectation for Rider Switch with Genie Plus is that both riders will use the Lightning Lane with their Genie Plus reservation (they just stagger it). That said, I haven’t personally used rider switch, just reporting what I was told by cast members when I was getting an answer to a different question about RS and LL.
If you have several people in your party booked for a lightning Lane and not all of them scanned in to the ride are you still able to get your next reservation? Or would you have to continuously select the specific members going on each ride? I would hate to waste precious time, having to select different group members every time based on the rides they do, and do not want to ride.
Hi Becky! Yes, everyone has to be free to book the next ride in order to book it, so they would either need to cancel their existing Lightning Lane or you would need to de-select them when booking the next ride. It’s been a while, so I can’t recall if the app will automatically deselect them for you since they are not eligible. I’ll try to test that the next time I do Genie with a group. Hi David! It takes anywhere from 10 to 20 hours to edit one of our videos. We sometimes film as many as 3 videos a day (early entry, hotel review and extended evening hours for example) but it may take us weeks or even months to get them all edited and uploaded. Sometimes we just end up refilming them because it took too long to getting around to editing it and things in the park have changed. Thanks for watching! 😃

Hi Roberto! Everyone can book their first Genie Plus Lightning Lane at 7am no matter where they stay. If you want to book an Individual Attraction Lightning Lane at 7am, you do have to be staying at a Disney hotel. There is one ride in each park currently that requires an Individual Attraction Lightning Lane. If you aren’t at a Disney hotel, you can book an Individual Attraction Lightning Lane at the time the park opens. The other perk you get for staying at a Disney hotel is early entry - currently 30 minutes at each park. If you stay at a Deluxe Resort, you also get extended evening hours at select parks on select nights. It is typically two hours after the park closes. Hope that helps!
Hi Amber! The change they made that affects park hopping is that it will no longer default to 2pm if you book a ride in your second park of the day. Hi Jody - others have reported this, as well. I can see everyone when I click modify and I just check or uncheck the names. I’m guessing it has to do with how the group is set up in My Disney Experience, but I haven’t been able to find a solution online. What stinks about that is that you run the risk of modifying half your party and then the park showing as unavailable. This is not likely a problem if you are a week or more away, but within a day or two of your visit, park pass availability really does fluctuate from moment to moment. Maybe check with Guest Relations? If I find an answer, I’ll let you know. Thanks for watching! 😃
Thanks for sharing! One scenario you didn’t specifically address: say I’m going to EPCOT opening at 8:30a. At 7:00a I’m able to make a LL reservation for 9:30a-10:30a on an attraction. If I checked into that attraction at 9:30a, prior to 2 hours from park opening (10:30a), wouldn’t I be able to make my second LL reservation right then?
Thanks for the quick response, Jennifer! Yes - as Jennifer mentions it is always whichever comes first. If you have really good luck with the slots, you won't ever invoke the 2-hour rule because you'll always be riding the ride before you hit the 2 hour mark.
Hi Christina. YES! They added the modify feature a while back, but it was hard to find. Now it is so much easier. I just wish they would add a modify button to Genie Plus reservations so we didn't have to cancel until we had secured a new one.
Hi Shannon! Yes - you are, unfortunately. I don't notice it as much when I am at Disney World because I know the park so well at this point and I don't think about how much I am missing out on by looking at my phone. We were in Anaheim last week playing the Genie Slots at Disneyland and California Adventure and I really did feel sad that I was missing out on the park while I booked Lightning Lanes. That said, it is only one member of your party that has to be buried in a phone app - and you can take turns. Also, once you snag the most difficult Lightning Lanes, the rest can usually be booked in seconds. Try to knock out those big rides ASAP and then you can mostly forget about your phone once those are done. Good luck!
They could improve things infinitely by getting rid of genie plus and lightning lanes completely. Disney has always been expensive but until the last couple of years when they started taking away perks it always felt like it still offered value. It really does not now, I've been 15 times to WDW and I'm not sure I will go again until they start offering value again.
Sadly, I don’t think prices will ever come back down. Hopefully after the pent up demand from the pandemic cools off, we’ll see some perks and incentives return, but it seems that Disney’s plan to combat overcrowding in the parks is to raise prices until the crowds reduce to the level they are targeting. It’s a win-win for Disney because they make more money with less overhead. Not so great for those of us who love spending time in the parks, though.
Try making sure you have activated the regular “free” Genie. Go to My Genie Day and tap on the button that says Get Started. After you make initial selections it SHOULD show up - though I have seen issues where it still doesn’t and then I think your best option is to check with Guest Relations or maybe delete and reinstall My Disney Experience. Hello! You need Disney Genie Plus in order to skip most of the regular standby queues at Disney World. It is $15 per person per day, but it is very complicated compared to other parks’ line skipping programs. I do. But I have learned to appreciate the Genie. There are a few improvements. Mainly that it is easier for larger groups to grab additional Lightning Lanes and that it allows you to be a bit more spontaneous with your day. Although you are somewhat at the mercy of the slots and what you can snag, I do like that I don't have the majority of my day set in stone months out the way I did with FastPass. That said, there was a lot to love about FastPass. Not the least of which that it was free and you could always count on having it.
Yes, Disney has definitely embraced the smartphone for pretty much everything these days. That change really started with FastPass and ADR's through My Disney Experience, but it has definitely increased dramatically since the pandemic. I have mixed feelings about it, but I agree that the less time we have to stare at a little screen, the better.

Definitely a positive change, although it will probably increase the usage of lightning lanes because people will realize that they can book them earlier than they thought. Thank you for letting us know so quickly about the change!
Agreed. I like that more people will know how to use the Genie, though. It makes me so sad when I would hear people say they only booked two rides because they didn’t know they could book more.

LOL - I just got back from a trip to Disneyland with some family members that are decidedly NOT Disney Parks people. They were trying to play the Genie Slots on their own early in the morning and they got very grumpy, so I can relate. Good thing they will have you to get things flowing more smoothly - my family certainly mellowed out a bit after I took over the Genie duties. 😂 Hope you all have an amazing time in the parks!

Thanks for the continued updates! I watched all your videos for a trip I had in early Aug and your info was incredibly helpful! One lesson I learned was forgetting to make my next pass right on time which affected the times for the rest of the day. Disney is not kidding when they say 2 hours from when you last booked.

We did it! Yeah, I think Genie is officially here to stay. My guess is that it will continue to evolve and once demand softens again, they'll add it as a sweetener with hotel reservations like they used to do with the dining plan. That may be a while off, though. Parks are still crazy packed.

Love your videos and they have been so helpful while planning my next trip. I wanted to also mention that DFB is claiming that you don’t actually have to scan in at your next ride to make your next reservation. They are reporting that you only need to wait until that ride window opens.

Stayed at pop century 80s building, farthest from the lobby. Had to order genie plus from near lobby as no cell service reached our 80s room on TMobile service. We were told not to order before their updates at 2am. So this meant a trek in the morning just to add genie plus.
Interesting - I’ve never heard of having to wait until 2am. That said, it’s very rarely sold out for the day and when it did, it seemed to happen later in the day so you should be good to buy it in the morning before you book your first Lightning Lane. Hi I have found your tips about genie plus very useful but I don’t think the refreshing works that well for me and as for the first couple days of my trip I Would refresh for 10-15 min and I would not get a better return time so I just gave up for the rest of my trip and just booked whatever was a good time

First of all- love these videos, hands down the best source for disney genie plus details! secondly- when you book lightning lanes does it automatically book them for everyone in your party or can different people in the party book lanes around the same time for different rides?
Hello! Sorry for the delay - we were in Anaheim for a week and we’re still getting caught up. When you set up the regular Genie (not Genie Plus) it will ask you to establish your party and this will be the default group of people who will be added to any Lightning Lane you book in your first park of the day. You can uncheck them when booking, but that takes time and can cause you to miss a competitive return time slot, so I suggest just canceling for those folks who want to do something else. Just tap on the reservation in My Day and click the cancel link. It will let you choose who to cancel for. You can choose to book a different Lightning Lane for those folks, if you wish. Note that at present, you have to add everyone to each Lightning Lane reservation manually if you park hop to another park. This is an annoying gremlin that I hope they fix soon. Disney seems to have made another change this morning for genie +. You can't purchase until 6am the day of your park visit. This is opening day after hurricane Ian. Been refreshing all night and the second 6am rolled around it let me purchase.

Early entry doesn't apply. They are talking about what time the park officially opens to the public.

I do have one question and i havent seen a video if you did talk about it. Can you book an individual LL for a ride in a park and then also book a genie plus LL for a different park later in the day. Hello! I have good news - you can book Individual Attraction Lightning Lanes or Genie Plus Lightning Lanes in multiple parks. You just have to make sure they are after 2pm if they are not in your first park of the day because you can’t park hop until 2. Thanks for watching!

Hi David! 1st off, thanks so much for the lovely comment! We were able to ride every top-tier attraction at Hollywood Studios the other night in just 3 hours. Slinky, Rise, Smugglers Run, Tower, Rock n Roller Coaster - all in 3 hours. I can’t guarantee it will be like that in a couple of weeks, but there’s a good chance. As for getting to the front of the line due to having mobility issues, there is actually a service for persons with disabilities called DAS. You can apply for it in advance of your trip. It lets you schedule a ride in the app and then you wait whatever the posted wait time is at that moment and then you can enter with your party via the Lightning Lane. Use of a scooter does not automatically qualify you for this service, though, because most every line at Disney World is designed to accommodate scooters and wheelchairs. Some cast members may offer to let you use the Lightning Lane, but that is not something I would expect to happen frequently (if at all). The good news is that you can choose to add genie at any point. I’d say start your trip without it and see how the day goes. It’s easy to add if you feel like you need it. Thanks for watching! 😃

Hi Nicole! We haven’t done any videos about the Individual Attraction Lightning Lanes, but you can book up to two per day and they can be in parks other than the one you start your day in as long as you have a park hopper ticket and you schedule the reservations after 2pm. Hope that helps! 😃
Great news. Might want to mention that the changes aren’t actually made in the app - it opens a browser and you *may have to (I did) enter your WDW username and password. Also, I noticed that my party of three were all separated, meaning when it first showed me the park reservations I already had, any changes I wanted to make I had to do it for each of us individually. I’m far enough out from my trip that I was able to easily cancel them all and then rebook them, which then showed all three of us together - much easier for future possible changes! (hope that makes sense!) Keep up the great work!

I’m going to Disney in March. I have an Epcot question. If I book at virtual queue spot for Guardians at 7am, would I be able to also book at Lightning Lane for Test Track, Frozen or Remy’s as my first ride, since it’s probably unlikely my boarding group would not be called until late morning?
Yes - and if you have another person to help, you can actually book them both at the same time right at 7am. That’s actually the best way to do it. You are allowed to have overlapping rides, too, since each return window lasts for an hour. Thanks for watching! 😃

Hi Dacia! Every member of your party is free to book Lightning Lanes with each other or independent of each other at any time. If half want to do Haunted Mansion and the other half want Pirates of the Caribbean, each group could book the ride they want for the same time as the other. Hope that helps! Thank for watching. 😃
Do you ever do videos on the monorail? I ask because I'm staying at the Contemporary next June. (I know that's a ways away) but didn't know if you had any videos that showed how long it takes to get to Epcot from the monorail resorts. Incase we wanted to rope drop Epcot. I love your videos!

The only ones you have to wait until the park opens for are the Individual Attraction Lightning Lanes that are not included with Genie Plus. Hi Eli! I would suggest getting the park hopper option and planning a day where you do Epcot in the morning and then park hop to Animal Kingdom at 2pm. You’ll definitely want Genie Plus. Make sure you grab the Guardians of the Galaxy boarding group right at 7am along with one of the big three Lightning Lanes (Remy, Frozen or Test Track). When you get to Animal Kingdom, save Pandora for last. Plan to get in line at Flight of Passage just before the park closes. Remember that the animal attractions close earlier than the rest of the park at Animal Kingdom, so prioritize those. Hope that helps!

Hello! Thanks so much for this lovely comment. 😊 Disney’s WiFi is very spotty and unreliable. Some parks and lands within parks are worse than others, but I think it would be very frustrating to rely on Disney’s wifi exclusively. The wifi is better at the resorts, but that doesn’t help much with booking Lightning Lanes. 🙁

@@andree-annmenard-simard2558 My first suggestion would be to check with your Canadian carrier to see if you can just add a temporary roaming plan - that would likely be easiest and cheapest. You could also check at the airport when you land - there are usually pre-paid SIM cards available there for this purpose. I’m not sure about your resort. It’s possible, but I think the first two options I mentioned would be a better bet. Good luck!

Hi Michele! Staying at a Disney resort does not affect your ability to book regular Genie Plus Lightning Lanes at 7am. The only Lightning Lanes that are affected by staying on property are the Individual Attraction Lightning Lanes. For those, non-hotel guests have to wait until park opening time to book. There are usually still some Individual Attraction Lightning Lanes available, though Rise of the Resistance and Guardians of the Galaxy MAY sell out on busy days. If you are trying to book one of those, I’d recommend doing it as soon as the park opens. Hope you have a great trip - thanks for watching! 😃
I have bad news. I was in the parks today and they have eliminated the possibility of stacking for park hopping. The times show next available instead of times after 2. I double checked with guest experience and they confirmed they just closed this option. NUTS!
Yes. It definitely makes it difficult for grabbing anything other than the most popular rides when you are trying to stack for park hopping. Less popular rides will never show a late enough return time.

I’m going in a couple months with a 1 year old & was wondering if we could get around the system a little by using parent swap/genie plus together by one parent booking a lightning lane (then using parent swap so we both can ride in the fast lane) while the other parent books a different one for soon after (then using parent swap again) has anyone ever tried to do this?? 😅 I wonder if it would be possible & allow us to have more of a guarantee on riding the popular rides (even multiple times maybe)
Hi Abby! This is a clever idea, but I have been told by Cast Members that the expectation for Rider Switch with Genie Plus is that both riders will use the Lightning Lane with their Genie Plus reservation (they just stagger it). That said, I haven’t personally used rider switch, just reporting what I was told by cast members when I was getting an answer to a different question about RS and LL.
If you have several people in your party booked for a lightning Lane and not all of them scanned in to the ride are you still able to get your next reservation? Or would you have to continuously select the specific members going on each ride?
I would hate to waste precious time, having to select different group members every time based on the rides they do, and do not want to ride.
Hi Becky! Yes, everyone has to be free to book the next ride in order to book it, so they would either need to cancel their existing Lightning Lane or you would need to de-select them when booking the next ride. It’s been a while, so I can’t recall if the app will automatically deselect them for you since they are not eligible. I’ll try to test that the next time I do Genie with a group. So curious - from the day you shoot the day you post….what is that usual edit time?!?
Hi David! It takes anywhere from 10 to 20 hours to edit one of our videos. We sometimes film as many as 3 videos a day (early entry, hotel review and extended evening hours for example) but it may take us weeks or even months to get them all edited and uploaded. Sometimes we just end up refilming them because it took too long to getting around to editing it and things in the park have changed. Thanks for watching! 😃
Good morning! Quick question: We will be traveling with two kids under two. Are they automatically allowed on attractions with us since they don’t have passes or Genie+ reservations?

If you stay in the Disney property hotels, do you still need to wait until parks opens to general admission or two hours from early entry?
Hi Roberto! Everyone can book their first Genie Plus Lightning Lane at 7am no matter where they stay. If you want to book an Individual Attraction Lightning Lane at 7am, you do have to be staying at a Disney hotel. There is one ride in each park currently that requires an Individual Attraction Lightning Lane. If you aren’t at a Disney hotel, you can book an Individual Attraction Lightning Lane at the time the park opens. The other perk you get for staying at a Disney hotel is early entry - currently 30 minutes at each park. If you stay at a Deluxe Resort, you also get extended evening hours at select parks on select nights. It is typically two hours after the park closes. Hope that helps!

Hi Amber! The change they made that affects park hopping is that it will no longer default to 2pm if you book a ride in your second park of the day. You’ll have to wait for it to organically reach a 2pm return time after the earlier times have been booked. I’m not a fan of that change. 😕 Thanks for watching!
When modifying our park reservations, I can only modify one person in my party at a time. Is this accurate or user error?
Hi Jody - others have reported this, as well. I can see everyone when I click modify and I just check or uncheck the names. I’m guessing it has to do with how the group is set up in My Disney Experience, but I haven’t been able to find a solution online. What stinks about that is that you run the risk of modifying half your party and then the park showing as unavailable. This is not likely a problem if you are a week or more away, but within a day or two of your visit, park pass availability really does fluctuate from moment to moment. Maybe check with Guest Relations? If I find an answer, I’ll let you know. Thanks for watching! 😃
Thanks for sharing! One scenario you didn’t specifically address: say I’m going to EPCOT opening at 8:30a. At 7:00a I’m able to make a LL reservation for 9:30a-10:30a on an attraction. If I checked into that attraction at 9:30a, prior to 2 hours from park opening (10:30a), wouldn’t I be able to make my second LL reservation right then?
Yes! It’s whichever comes first if that makes sense, he’s gone in depth in previous genie+ videos
Thanks for the quick response, Jennifer! Yes - as Jennifer mentions it is always whichever comes first. If you have really good luck with the slots, you won't ever invoke the 2-hour rule because you'll always be riding the ride before you hit the 2 hour mark.
So does the modify button mean now I can just change the reservation vs having to cancel existing Res and the rebook a new Res?
Hi Christina. YES! They added the modify feature a while back, but it was hard to find. Now it is so much easier. I just wish they would add a modify button to Genie Plus reservations so we didn't have to cancel until we had secured a new one.

Hi Shannon! Yes - you are, unfortunately. I don't notice it as much when I am at Disney World because I know the park so well at this point and I don't think about how much I am missing out on by looking at my phone. We were in Anaheim last week playing the Genie Slots at Disneyland and California Adventure and I really did feel sad that I was missing out on the park while I booked Lightning Lanes. That said, it is only one member of your party that has to be buried in a phone app - and you can take turns. Also, once you snag the most difficult Lightning Lanes, the rest can usually be booked in seconds. Try to knock out those big rides ASAP and then you can mostly forget about your phone once those are done. Good luck!
They could improve things infinitely by getting rid of genie plus and lightning lanes completely. Disney has always been expensive but until the last couple of years when they started taking away perks it always felt like it still offered value. It really does not now, I've been 15 times to WDW and I'm not sure I will go again until they start offering value again.
Sadly, I don’t think prices will ever come back down. Hopefully after the pent up demand from the pandemic cools off, we’ll see some perks and incentives return, but it seems that Disney’s plan to combat overcrowding in the parks is to raise prices until the crowds reduce to the level they are targeting. It’s a win-win for Disney because they make more money with less overhead. Not so great for those of us who love spending time in the parks, though.

My edit selections tab on the tip board seems to have disappeared. Anyone else having this issue?
Try making sure you have activated the regular “free” Genie. Go to My Genie Day and tap on the button that says Get Started. After you make initial selections it SHOULD show up - though I have seen issues where it still doesn’t and then I think your best option is to check with Guest Relations or maybe delete and reinstall My Disney Experience. Hello! You need Disney Genie Plus in order to skip most of the regular standby queues at Disney World. It is $15 per person per day, but it is very complicated compared to other parks’ line skipping programs. Do people miss the fast pass system? 😕
I do. But I have learned to appreciate the Genie. There are a few improvements. Mainly that it is easier for larger groups to grab additional Lightning Lanes and that it allows you to be a bit more spontaneous with your day. Although you are somewhat at the mercy of the slots and what you can snag, I do like that I don't have the majority of my day set in stone months out the way I did with FastPass. That said, there was a lot to love about FastPass. Not the least of which that it was free and you could always count on having it.
So sad of all the rules and stress now going to WDW. You are "married" to your phone to ride and eat. Not happy with the new CEO at all.
Yes, Disney has definitely embraced the smartphone for pretty much everything these days. That change really started with FastPass and ADR's through My Disney Experience, but it has definitely increased dramatically since the pandemic. I have mixed feelings about it, but I agree that the less time we have to stare at a little screen, the better.
