It’s all so stressful for the person who plans it all (aka ME), getting up on this day to book dinner and experiences reservations, getting up on this day to book this and that and the other thing… then getting in there and worrying about getting into the next lightening lanes… I almost miss just waiting in line- old school!
This change is what old DAS users needed. We can only be at the park for 3 hours a day due to disability. Now we can plan 3 rides all in the same area in advance knowing our day is doable. I’ll happily pay like others. I never needed anything free just doable. My hubby was thrilled at this announcement. Now he can still have a magical day while fighting a deadly disease. Memories and time are what we treasure most now.
I'm so happy for you guys! I have a disabled mother and going to Disney made me very proud of how far they go to help disabled guests. It can always be better, of course! Have lots of magical fun!
@@tlo11738 He was denied because it wasn’t a neurodivergent kind of thing. But he can’t spend a long time in the sun or get overheated. He also can still walk and would rather not go if it meant a wheelchair. When you know that is your permanent future, you want your independence as long as you can. With the May change, Disney had suggested adult diapers, wheelchair and Genie+. None was good for his mental health facing his disease so we were just going to do a December trip and only ride things close together and low wait. Now we can purchase something 7 days ahead knowing what rides we are doing and can cluster them together. 3 rides is good for us a day. Get a snack, maybe watch a show and go back to resort. I already booked a September trip and got hubby MNSSP tix. He loves the parade and shows so we should be good once the sun goes down. We will purchase the new lightening passes for the other days.
The tier system is what I hate most about this change. I like the functionality of Genie Plus. It feels like they are trying to please people who loved Fast Pass plus, but those people want this to be free so they are not going to be satisfied by any change that still costs money.
I think you might be right about that - so many people said what they most disliked was that they could not pre-book. We'll see if they end up liking this new version.
I was a huge fan of FP+ and being able to reserve ahead of the trip; however, the tier system was the big downside. Regardless, I never seemed to have a problem getting what I wanted ultimately. By ‘spreading the wealth’ with the top tier rides, it makes them more available to everyone at the first drop.
I don’t think Disney is trying to please anyone, as, while I loved Fastpass+ overall (because it was free and you could pick before your vacay), I hated the tier system. I think they’re trying to make sure the most popular rides don’t get super-long lines, that they aren’t inundated with people who only ride them, and that more people get the opportunity to ride them. I have been going to Disney every year for almost 30 years, and often, the only rides I want to ride are the tier 1s from these lists, so I suspect it’s going to be difficult to get the rides I want and do park hopping at the same time, which was always the issue with FP+, as well.
I think ultimately it solves the issue of LL slowing down the lines of these big attractions, which may (or may not) speed it up by 10-20 minutes, which adds up to an hour or two extra if true for all of the rides. It also speeds up the lower tier attractions at MK, because there are too many of them. I think we'll just have to see what the wait times look like with this new system. It may be tough on Hollywood and Epcot, but we'll just have to wait and see. (Animal Kingdom is tough with both systems, I bet!)
y’all must do Disney vacations wayyyyyyy differently than me. I’ve never planned all three attractions for any of my vacation days much less the last day! I don’t plan dining either. I’ve thought about it- but in the end for me all that scheduled stuff is stressful and not my idea of vacay mode… I just roll with it. We’ll find something to ride. We’ll find something to eat and drink. One park a day for a few hours. Never disappoints.
This is way simpler and easier than G+, and one can now make touring plans that work in advance again like we used to..... before the dark times.... before the G+.

Lol I watched one video and it's all clear to me. If you have to watch 6 different videos, maybe the videos you're watching are not explaining it correctly
I agree completely. A family should be able to pick out their top rides, go and ride. They shouldn't have to do all this pre-planning. The original fast pass system was by far the best and most equitable. If they don't want all the excess paper, create a system where we put in a QR code or something and it gives us a time to come back.
One thing some Canadians traveling to WDW gave been told (by CMs on chat, as well as TAs) is that you will not be able to make your Multi Pass reservations until you are on US soil. If you hear anything about this, we would love to know more as this obviously changes how we will experience the new system. Thank you for all your helpful videos!
Yup, first thing I thought of! Washington state here! So annoying! I don’t want to be reserving LLs 3-7 days (depending on hotel stay) in advance of my trip bc I’ll be busy packing and trying up loose ends so I can leave town. If it were, say, 30 days in advance that would be better It also makes it harder to coordinate with a group of friends to do the parks together. It’s easier to coordinate with friends when we’re already in Florida at the hotel together vs, again, when we’re scrambling to leave town AND trying to reach friends to plan
When I saw this change my first thought WHAT?!??? But then my second thought was “man I hope Ear Scouts covers this so I can understand this as best I can”
Watching Robb preparing for his run on Disney Multi-Pass is going to be like watching Jordan locked in for the 95-96 NBA Season. Can’t wait to see our GOAT tackle a new challenge.
Just as I was feeling like I've mastered the genie plus, they change it, I'm so grateful to have Rob to help me figure out the new system before our next disney world vacation!
I never make TH-cam comments. . . I think I have done maybe 3 comments in the last decade. But I have to comment today. Thank you so much for the passion and intelligence you demonstrate with every video you have done. . . and I am happy that you are planning to show us all that is to come. Panicked when I saw the announcement, told the wife, and she immediately said I’ve gotta reach out to EarScouts Rob! Just watched the video and we’re already feeling calmer thanks to you guys! Looming forward to the series and THANK YOU!!!!!
You are the best at making everything so simple and easy to understand! I look forward to your first videos seeing the system in use. Your positivity and joy shine through all your videos, thank you!
Thank you for another chef's kiss video. I know others have touched on the issues for international (I'm UK) visitors; having to use a VPN would be seriously clunky. The lack of ability to swap park days around without losing those rides locked in will suck, as will the parks being busier in the mornings, I expect, as people will need to get in and use morning times as soon as possible to then being able to access more Tier 1 times. Maybe the parks will be lighter in the evenings? For those of us preferring to stay off site, I believe the 3 days ahead booking is on a rolling basis and not for our whole UK 14 day ticket, therefore we're still going to be up at 7am, all holiday practically, sorting each park day three days ahead. I'm hoping they could change it to the whole ticket duration (which for us is actually 18 days on a 14 day ticket). I feel like the new system, whilst bringing some peace of mind to some guests, will still be a lot like gambling since crowd levels can vary so much across dates and within a few days of each other, that we will be losing the ability to judge the crowd levels (and therefore need/wish to pay for Multi Pass) when the advantage is in booking so many days (14/3) ahead.
My biggest issue is - I am Canadian. We are (currently) being told that international guests can ONLY make their preselections the moment we are on US soil. Which will in most cases, be one day before or the day of. This is hugely frustrating.
I just came back from Disney, and I just wanted to give a HUGE shout out to Ear Scouts (go you, Rob and Erick)! We had been watching all your videos for the past 3 months, and we were fortunate to have rope dropped all the rides successfully. We were especially worried about RotR, but we lucked out and it was running that morning! I am still very disappointed in how confusing Disney had made Genie+, and with that going away now, all the months we have researched have gone out the window! Throughout our trip, we joked how awesome it would be if we ran into you guys, since I would have treated you guys to some Joffrey's coffee :) Anywho, from the bottom of my heart, thanks again for all the videos you do and all the help you provide for us first timers. Keep up the great work!
Another inportant thing will be to take advantage of that 30 min early entry if staying onsite. U can knock off a few big attractions early without needing a LL
Holy Mickey Ears, you guys! I wasn't expecting you to whip out such a comprehensive video that fast! 😅 Some questions/situations I would love to hear more about in future videos: 1) Virtual Queues and how they are affected, if at all 2) For non-resort guests, the verbiage wasn't entirely clear. Are they not allowed to book all their attractions up to 14 days like the resort guests 3) Would there be any advantage for non-resort guests to do a split-stay; actually staying the first night on property to take advantage of the resort benefits, and then resuming the rest of their stay off property. Can't wait to see what you have in store for us!
For the past 2-3 months, I've been learning Genie+ ahead of our first trip from 🇨🇦 in 75 days! I feel so confused now. Disney is changing too much! Out of all the videos, you've explained how to use Genie+ the BEST! Great content. Thank you for this quick and in-depth info on the new system. I will also be a split stay, so it will be interesting to see if we can still make those advanced selections. Thanks, Rob & Erik!
Good luck, as it sounds right now all international travelers including Canada will not be able to make any multi lane picks at the 7 day mark. You have be in the US to make it.
Thanks Rob! The big problem that I see (for me anyway) is that you have to commit to a specific park on a specific day between 7-21 days before you plan to go. For example, when we were just there, the night before the day we were scheduled to go to Epcot, we decided to take a rest day and that meant we shifted 3 other park days after that. Does that mean that all of the attractions we booked in the MultiPass for those park/day combos would be lost and we'd have to re-book for those as soon as we decide to alter our plans? Previously, if we decided to change our plan the night before, the next morning we'd just wake up and do Genie+ like usual, nothing forfeited.
Wow! Excellently thorough video. You literally answered all of my questions. Hopefully the free Virtual Queue system will stick around for super new attractions.
You always explain everything so clearly! You made our last visit a fantastic one and I have no doubt that by watching your series of videos before our next stay in September will make that visit just as amazing! ☺️ THANK YOU!
The first youtuber I checked when I heard about this change. Once again, excellent info. Everyone needs to stop paying for this ridiculousness. Give the folks who stay on site, one hour early or two hours late every day in the parks like they used to do. This entire booking rides before you get to the parks is a joke.
I differ. I used to be able to plan and make touring plans that yielding almost no waiting in line, didn't require getting up b4 7am every day, and didn't require me being on my phone. The G+ blew up all that. Now it's back. Yay!
Hi Rob & Ear Scouts team. Have been following your updates and videos since the past 3/4 months in preparation of visit to WDW with my family. We just finished the 4 parks a few days back and thanks to your tips especially with Genie Plus and LLs, we had a very memorable experience including riding Tiana’s Bayou adventure on opening day. Thank you again and keep up the good work.
Rob, you are the best at explaining all of this convoluted mess. I have to go the end of Sept and I'm not looking forward to all of this. You make it a little easier to bear. Thank you!
I would love if you would make a few videos about using the new Lightning Lane System in conjunction with Early Entry for each park once you get the nuances worked out.
I can’t wait to learn the new system! I hope it will make planning a little easier. BUT I will miss Genie Rob!!! Please bring him back from time to time, it cracks me up!! 😂
I feel like someone high up at Disney hates us 😫 I honestly didn’t even figure out lighting lanes yet 😵💫 Thank you Ear scouts for helping us😅 at least we have you 👏🏻👏🏻
I got to know genie+ forwards and backwards and this new system feels overwhelming. Luckily our next trip is in August, just enough time to learn more and come up with a strategy
I am going in Sept, glad I have time to figure this one out too. I am also going in 9 days so still have to remember how to use Genie plus so can't erase that knowledge yet. Stressed for sure lol
We'll get some new strategy videos as quickly as we can. I know a lot of people are nervous about how this will work in practice on a real park day and hopefully our videos will help folks feel better about that.
This was super helpful explaining the system! FYI, I was able to purchase multipass for my entire trip next week even though I was doing a split stay and the first day of my last hotel of it is beyond the 7 days from today, so that is an improvement over the previous system!
When I heard the news, I couldn't wait to see your video and get your thoughts. You're the reason I felt so confident with Genie+ on our last trip. Looking forward to future videos! Thank you!!
First time in forever we’ll be staying off property on our next trip and we’re taking our entire family. I’m in almost panic mode that we won’t be able to get anything we want with this system. We use to do it right and loved the ‘very old’ FP system where we’d run around the parks and collect FP for the different rides. I’m getting too old to have to keep learning new ways to actually have fun and do the rides and attractions we want when we get to the parks!
Love the rescue rangers ears! Your videos are lifesaving for a Disney vacation. Definitely feels like Disney is now using the system to fill the hotels. The howls from the AP crowd will be loud.
We will be at Disney from July 22 -28.....so I guess we will need to use Genie + for the 22 and 23...and I'm going to have to learn this brand new system for the 24 through the 28. This is making me very anxious, because with your help I feel like I had MASTERED Genie +! 😂
I am taking notes since I will be doing my 1st solo in Sept and my son always takes care of the Genie + when we go together. I was waiting to hear from you. Your video is more thorough than some of the others I've seen. Thank you.
After pouring so much knowledge of Genie Plus into my brain for my trip in September Disney goes and changes everything lol. Can’t wait for the videos that follow on this, because I wanna make sure I can book my main 3 rides and then follow it up with some character meet and greets
I’m just glad you can do it before your travel, last trip waking up at 5.30am to be ready to rope drop and scrambling at 7am to book, just wasn’t a vacation 😂😅
Super video, you are great at explaining things as always! Being from the UK, I also have major reservations about how this new system is going to work for international guests but seeing as others have already mentioned that in the comments, I thought I would ask another question instead - what about if one of your pre-booked rides happens to be down during your time slot? Will there still be an experience redemption like with Genie+ and if so, would there be restrictions on what rides (tier wise) that you can use the redemption for?
Of Course, I knew all I needed to do was watch your next video to understand this news from Disney. Thank You, as always very helpful video Rob. And super fast ! Congratulations
Uuuugggghhhhh nooooooo!!!!! I love stacking!!!!! we loved leaving in the middle of the day with our kids for them to relax at the hotel or go swimming and escape the hottest part of the day while I stacked lightning lanes for the afternoon
As soon as I heard they were changing Genie+ I came here to see Rob ! I knew he’d explain what was happening in the best way. As usual, you did not disappoint. 😊 Thank you! Looking forward to watching your visit on July 24. But just thought of something.. What about non US visitors trying to book 7 days in advance??
I am coming in Jan 2025 from Australia. I have been STUDYING your videos on Genie+. Spreadsheets galore lol I have only ever used the fastpass+ system from when I was last there in 2017. I am PUMPED for this ability to book 7 days in advance!! Being a big fan on having an in place plan it's put my mind at ease, just as I know your videos will help me decide what to book and when! Honestly cannot thank you enough!
@@louisehondel2761 no no I am luckily enough staying with my aunt in DC 10 days prior to my trip. No VPN needed thankfully. I do feel for fellow international travelers tho that don’t have family in the US…. I hope that rule changes.
Ahh! We were at Magic Kingdom yesterday and I was watching for you and must have missed you 😭 We did a great job yesterday thanks to your previous videos.
At first, having become a Genie + professional the past few years, I was worried that this would eliminate my advantage. However, seeing the similarities, I am looking forward to trying this out. Thank you for the coverage!
Thank you Ear Scouts for all that you do!! Looking forward to the new series. 😊 planning a trip for December and hopefully we will have several of your videos as reference! ❤
Thanks for the news and hints, but now i feel confuse. I will be at disney during the change, half of my trip will be in genie plus and the other half in the new system
I will be there from the 19th- the 26th. The 24th we will be in EPCOT and the 25th in MK. I talked to a CM, and she told me that pre-booking will not be available until the 24th. I'm so nervous about figuring out a new system while in Disney the day it launches. Maybe I will see you in the parks, and that will make up for the frustration, lol.
I’m looking forward to your upcoming videos! Thank you for all you do! I’m particularly interested in how this will work with park hopping. FP+ with the tiers never worked the way I liked with park hopping, because it always took much longer to get the rides I actually wanted to ride before I could hop, but I like having the hopper option, because I like having the option of eating in the parks or going to nighttime shows at another park. It may make sense to use the extra half hour in the mornings to get as much done as possible without using multi-pass at all and then using all the multi-pass options in the second park. IDK, because I also like the idea that you can book another lightning lane as soon as checking in at another ride.
Thanks Rob for another detailed video. I love how you explain Genie plus etc. We live in the UK - have you heard if International guests can book 7 days in advance if staying at a Disney property?
One thing you didn't mention in the video (I know that it's not relevant in your case): To buy the LL multi/single pass you MUST be in the U.S! I know that this is how it works today with Genie+, and this is not a big deal for you guys that already live in U.S, BUT... ALL international visitors (like me here in Brazil) will be disadvantaged by this "detail" as we will not be able to purchase LL until we arrive in US. This is even worse if you are a Disney Resort guest! Imagine an international family (from anywhere in the world) that will stay at a Disney hotel, arrive in Orlando on "day 10" and go to the first park on "day 11". The "benefit" to book 7 days in advance will be useless, especially for the first few days. We thought that by being able to book in advance, Disney would allow to purchase from anywhere in the world! This is so frustrating!
Hey Rob! I was looking at the list. Is it any resort under those categories? I will be staying at DVC Riveria. Just wanted to double check! TYSM for getting this video out so quickly!!!! You guys are the best!
The one guy I trust when it comes to Disney World lines comes through. Thank You.

Rob, the world needs you. I literally thought when this is announced, "ohhh lord, I need an Earscouts video to help explain this." ;)
My biggest issue is - I am Canadian. We are (currently) being told that international guests can ONLY make their preselections the moment we are on US soil. Which will in most cases, be one day before or the day of. This is hugely frustrating.
haven’t even watched yet but already know this is THE place for accurate info - thanks guys
Throughout our trip, we joked how awesome it would be if we ran into you guys, since I would have treated you guys to some Joffrey's coffee :)
Anywho, from the bottom of my heart, thanks again for all the videos you do and all the help you provide for us first timers. Keep up the great work!
Another inportant thing will be to take advantage of that 30 min early entry if staying onsite. U can knock off a few big attractions early without needing a LL
Absolutely! 💯
@@EarScouts We need Video of Early Entry strategy for the new LL System.
Thank you Rob!!!! You are the most trusted source for planning all of my Disney trips!
Aww - thanks so much, Wendy! And thank you for the generous Super Thanks - that was very sweet of you. 😊
You are the man! Wow. You had that video ready in Lightning speed.
Thank you!
I'm going to be glued to the videos...need to be ready for November!
@@mikeandcolleenhodgson7799I heard you can do this in Canada
I wonder. I liked making my choices on the day of as the day went on since I wasn’t sure what our day would hold.
Wow! Excellently thorough video. You literally answered all of my questions. Hopefully the free Virtual Queue system will stick around for super new attractions.
I have been refreshing my youtube in anticipation for this video!
You always explain everything so clearly! You made our last visit a fantastic one and I have no doubt that by watching your series of videos before our next stay in September will make that visit just as amazing! ☺️
THANK YOU!
Thank you!
Patiently waiting for your posts from your day tomorrow, JULY 24!!!! 🥳🥳🥳
I would love if you would make a few videos about using the new Lightning Lane System in conjunction with Early Entry for each park once you get the nuances worked out.
Rob has the BEST Genie+/LL videos! Thanks for all your hard work, it’s most definitely a full time job keeping up with these changes 😂
I can’t wait to learn the new system! I hope it will make planning a little easier. BUT I will miss Genie Rob!!! Please bring him back from time to time, it cracks me up!! 😂
I feel like someone high up at Disney hates us 😫 I honestly didn’t even figure out lighting lanes yet 😵💫
Thank you Ear scouts for helping us😅 at least we have you 👏🏻👏🏻
I got to know genie+ forwards and backwards and this new system feels overwhelming.
We'll get some new videos up to help out soon! Hopefully it will make things even easier than before. 🤞
@@EarScouts looking forward to it! Genie+ was overwhelming at first but I learned to love it. I can already see pros & cons of the new system.
Thank you Obi Rob Kenobi, you are our only hope
I was hoping you would come out with something real soon. You're the best at reporting this kind of information
This was super helpful explaining the system! FYI, I was able to purchase multipass for my entire trip next week even though I was doing a split stay and the first day of my last hotel of it is beyond the 7 days from today, so that is an improvement over the previous system!
I ran straight to your channel when I heard the news. Thanks so much Rob and Eric! I knew you’d come through 😊
This channel is ELITE. Thank you so much for this video and also all the advance planning you are doing to keep us up to date on the day of launch! 👏🏼
I read about the change yesterday, but I was waiting for your video to REALLY explain the changes.
I am taking notes since I will be doing my 1st solo in Sept and my son always takes care of the Genie + when we go together. I was waiting to hear from you. Your video is more thorough than some of the others I've seen. Thank you.
That was very informative and through. Great video!
Thank you so much, Rob. My trip is not till 2025, but i guess this gives me time to digest the changes.
Thank you for this video! It already answered a lot of my questions. Can’t wait to see the other videos!
Very informative as always. Thank you 🙂
Super video, you are great at explaining things as always!
Rob, thank you. You are so organized and on it every time
Uuuugggghhhhh nooooooo!!!!! I love stacking!!!!! we loved leaving in the middle of the day with our kids for them to relax at the hotel or go swimming and escape the hottest part of the day while I stacked lightning lanes for the afternoon
Hoping we still can when some of the kinks are worked out!!?
As soon as I heard they were changing Genie+ I came here to see Rob ! I knew he’d explain what was happening in the best way. As usual, you did not disappoint. 😊 Thank you! Looking forward to watching your visit on July 24.
But just thought of something.. What about non US visitors trying to book 7 days in advance??
Thanks for letting us know. Will possibly be there next year.
This has been the best explanation I've seen so far. Thank you.
Vpn?
@@louisehondel2761 no no I am luckily enough staying with my aunt in DC 10 days prior to my trip. No VPN needed thankfully. I do feel for fellow international travelers tho that don’t have family in the US…. I hope that rule changes.
Seriously, your videos have become such a great resource!
Always super clear and great info on all the steps and walkthroughs
Appreciated! Cant wait to use this in August
Thanks so much - glad you found it helpful. 😊
I’ve been waiting for your video since the announcement! Thank you for making it all make sense 😊❤️
Do you know, from your research, if deluxe resort guests will be able to book a second ride during extended evening hours?
Excellent Video!!! Thanks for all of the info!!! I feel much more confident about our trip early next year.
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge! I always refer to your channel for all Lighting Lane info. You are the BEST!
Great vlog. You always make it look easy and are great at explaining things. Thank you for sharing😊 learnt so much from you❤
Ahh! We were at Magic Kingdom yesterday and I was watching for you and must have missed you 😭 We did a great job yesterday thanks to your previous videos.
Can’t wait to see the video on how your experience goes ! I go in September so I’m all eyes on the people who are figuring this out this summer ❤
I can’t believe they have left International visitors staying at Disney resorts out in the cold. We can only book once we arrive in the US.
Thanks for the detailed explanations and graphics, this helped tremendously with understanding the new system.
I knew immediately you were the one person I could count on!! Thank you so much for your help!!
LUVED this video explanation! Excited to hear more...going in Sept!
Qu - do we have to pre-book ride times?...considering ADRs w/ride booking!
We thought our vacation was ruined because of how crowded it usually is and we don’t know how to use the fast pass, this was very helpful.
RIP The Disney Genie+ Series!
In all seriousness though, can’t wait for the future videos!
It does feel like the end of an era for our channel. But I guess that also means we are at the dawn of a new era, which seems pretty exciting. 😊
I Love your content guys. Thank you for all the information about the news on Disney. A big hug for you guys Erick and Rob
thank you for this video, rob! we sre having a trip in august and i was lowkey worried but i knew you'd make it make sense 😂❤
This was such a helpful video! Looking forward to when this is launched and I learn from you / see it in action!
thank y’all so much for making this easier to understand 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I just found you and you’re really nice to listen to. Super informative. Going to check out your other videos:) thanks
Thank you for explaining things, I look forward to your next videos.
Hey Rob! I was looking at the list. Is it any resort under those categories? I will be staying at DVC Riveria. Just wanted to double check! TYSM for getting this video out so quickly!!!! You guys are the best!
