Заставить остатки пехоты ломиться наружу через пристрелянную дверь вместо того, чтобы отвести её безопасным маршрутом через межкомнатную дверь - "гениальный" ход от Луки
I’m glad me and the boys decided to leave that room. Seeing the direct fire coming from the cluster bombed BRM-1K, I’m positive my promotion would’ve been VERY short lived
At this point Luka has enough combat power to contest Airbase North, _maybe_ take it if he can keep his remaining vehicles alive. Having his precious remaining infantry fart around in the open is just throwing them away for no reason. He really screwed up the assault on Airbase North and every man with a rifle needs to be supporting the main effort if he wants to salvage this.
If I am right (big if) then Luka only has the T-72 left, which is currently heading towards Airfield West. I'm not clear how much infantry he has in the Airfield North area but I suspect it may not be enough to hold off the US forces if Hapless decides to push them out. I thought this would be a draw (one objective each and the last disputed + whatever points for casualties) but I can see Hapless clearing the second objective in the last ~6 turns
All it comes down to the infantryman and his rifle. He remember the talks about air land battle and active defense, none of these matter right now. It’s the infantryman that will make the ultimate difference. The dice has been cast
The Sov player seems to be doubling down on his plan of uncoordinated attacks against each objective sequentially w/o suppressing the defending infantry or covering ATGMs
I'm guessing the T-72 will stay next to the wall until turn 30 and then drive into airbase west and the lorries might be used in a similar fashion. The infantry attacking from the south will surely be repulsed. I wonder if there are only Soviet soldiers in one building in airbase north. If that is the case, I think it shouldn't be too hard to take control of that objective, despite the amount of time remaining. There is perhaps a possibility of some kind of small ace up the Soviet sleeve, but even if there is I doubt it's enough to tip the scales. Another possibility is that I'm completely wrong and that things will go much worse for the US than I can imagine.
No, but at this stage it was either this or the T72. Of course, if the F4s had come in earlier when all the enemy were nicely bunched up between the objective and the perimeter wall...
@@usuallyhapless9481 Yeah, in some sense it forces the enemy to fight more hastily (that's also a benefit of artillery and other support arms, the enemy will often be forced to fight in a limited time span)
So.. do the F4s (by which I mean the surviving F4) come back? Or is that it? I mean, Luka is down to 1 tank and some infantry but if they are a "one turn wonder" that's a bit of a disappointment. Looking like you might be able to push the Soviet infantry out of the objective and end the game with 2 to 1.
Yes they will keep looking for targets in the designated area for a period of time until they wave off either because they cant find anything, run out of ammo or get shoo'd away by AA fire.
@usuallyhapless9481 Love CM, but the modeling of artillery and air strike can often be a disappointment at least. (In shock force 2 AH-64 is modeled to be doing gun runs with the 30mm, however in reality AH-64s would maintain standoff and make short controlled bursts against exposed enemy targets one at a time
tbh i doubt thats just 1 clusterbomb more like clustersalvo, dont they carry 16 of them for such strikes? or thats just lower size rockeyes, anyway that cluster on bmp looks like at least 2 bombs

Was just looking for the next turn. What timing
Waiting to see the F4s clusterbomb only the jeeps.
That would pretty typical

They may not be the flashiest aircraft, but i love an F-4 Phantom.
ATGMs Remaining: 3? Math's hard.
ATGMs Fired: 29
ATGM Hits: 15
Vehicles Killed: 22/23

To be fair, time is a serious problem for him
@@usuallyhapless9481Yeah, this do look like what a desperate Soviet commander would do
Guess that T72 did have a working gun after all

The tricky part might be getting forces up to clear the buildings in time, what with the mortars and roaming T72 potential
@@usuallyhapless9481 Good point.
A single STRELA taking out a F4... Where is the complaining russki in the comments when you need him?! LOL

Not sure exchanging 1 x F4 for 1 x BMP is a good exchange rate?
It is, the BMP 2 has the potential to do big damage with much of the platoons exhausting their ammo supply
Its the last remaining BMP, so in this case, probably

F4s have 2 crew, so you could add a second name 😀
I could have, but I wasn't sure they were even going to turn up!
Casualties Turn 24: Phantom Folly:
Atlas Actual (F4 Phantom)
Benjamin Headman
Khan

The surviving F4 may or may not make more attack runs, depending on how many targets the crew spotted and how dangerous they think it is.
Are jets even worth their cost? 2 jets with limited payload and 1 gets shot down.
Generally not. On the other hand, this is a scenario so they were free
Hapless. Was I killed in the previous turn?
Could you tighten up the F4 attack area to coincide more with the T-72’s position?
No, the order is sent and shifting it is near impossible
@ So you can’t adjust the mission like artillery? You’re not moving the target, just tightening the parameters to the specific location of the T-72…
@ You can, but it’s going to take a long long time
In theory, the FAC should be able to help guide the CAS onto specific targets... not sure Poxy can see the T72 right now though

It still has one bomb left the observer calling them in shows one cluster left at 16:07
@@tomlohan5605 yes, i mean as salvo rather than having, because dropping 3 out of 4 in one go? dont they drop in pairs?
In CM, aircraft only fire single missiles or drop single bombs on their passes.
Which is obviously not ideal...
