Sup people! Here's what we think of Sonu Nigam's singing evolution Watch our latest video here: • Waleska & Efra react t... #india #reaction #sonunigam
For your information, Sonu Nigam left his home town to become a playback singer only. But at that time it was not easy to contact or catch attention of composers. There was no reality show. He has to struggle a lot. due to his charming and boy next door look, ability to speak and sing so well, he got the chance to become the host of India's 1st reality show Saregama where Shreya came as contestant and that show gave Shreya a lot of exposure to different composers and film maker.
As a host in sa re ga ma there was a segment in which contestants had to sing at the key according to the changes in chords and sonu used to help them with this.. That's what you saw in this video as well..He would sing the same song with different chords (lord of chords for a reason 😌)I have zero knowledge of chords and keys but somehow the way sonu sang sounded better to me 😂 There are few other compilations which show his year wise journey and many other songs of his own..
3:55 dont agree with this . He might be an entertainer but he's primarily a vocalist and I don't think anybody else has focused this much on developing different vocal techniques than he has . I think being an entertainer he's equally proficient at the musical part as well.
So what , every singer gets inspired by someone, it's not called imitation it's called capturing the soul of the song which a mimicry artist can't do. Sonu Nigam has his own style of Singing and he got work in industry because of his talent and hardwork not because of Rafi Sahab.
Had the honour to attend 3 live show of his in Suriname South America. He is a gem.❤ 3days ago we had the honour to have Jubin Nautyal here in Suriname❤ superrr
He started as a singer in stage singing songs which were sung by Mohammad Rafi in old hindi movies. He was one of the best person to copy rafi sahab. I would request you two to plz dedicate one entire show to Mohammad Rafi.
2:25 Is that Swapnil Bandodkar as a contestant? I didn't know that. Swapnil Bandodkar is a well-established playback singer for Marathi film and music industry. Fun fact - I met him once as a singing contestant (I was 6 years old that time. About 23 years from now) when Swapnil Bandodkar was the host.
Sonu Nigam was a pure singer from the start, he struggled a lot in his first 6 years from age 18-24. He only got a lot of success from 1997 onwards. There was no smooth transition , he worked really hard to get recognition and stardom came very very slowly.
Sonu Nigam is a full package... and there is no one like him among the male artist..I repeat no one. Who have mastery over live singing, technicality, soulfulness, dynamics, range, performance, entertainment and what not. ❤❤ He is blessed. We are blessed to have him in our generation. Not a single clip is enough to know him...one will require life time to know him nearly completely. I am consciously hearing him from 2006.. still I find some unheard gems by him which just mesmerize me.. Continue to explore him..one day you will surely get what I meant.
@@kkayy4 yess😊 the more I grew up listening to him, more I realised that I have already heard those even earlier when I was kid..may be not even in school.
React on Sonu nigam (Aa pukare mujhe) most underrated annd most tough and great song of legend sonu as a listener I bet you guys you cant find this type of song again in Bollywood
Hey guys the reason why they sound different or sing in different keys is because they can. When it's not a competition and the audience is just present to listen sonu for his voice, he showcases all his talent in singing the same song better than the studio recorded. We are used to this as most of the singers improvise unless it's a competition. In competition everyone has to imitate the song exactly but in their voice. That's the major difference.
I'd love to suggest another gem that deserves a watchalong spotlight i.e 'Guzaarish' by the incredibly talented Sanjay Leela Bhansali. This film is a testament to Bhansali's mastery in storytelling, with breathtaking visuals, a soul-stirring soundtrack, and powerful performances by Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai. 'Guzaarish' is not just a movie; it's an emotional rollercoaster that will leave you pondering long after the credits roll. Moreover, it received widespread acclaim for its sensitive handling of the theme of euthanasia and the right to die with dignity, sparking important conversations about compassion and human rights. It's also worth mentioning that the film's exquisite cinematography and hauntingly beautiful soundtrack earned it nominations and awards not only in India but also at international film festivals. Must watch ❤
@waleska and Efra...did you guys notice how Sonu was singing a lot of 60's sounding songs....a lot of those songs have been sung by Mohammad Rafi in the 50s, 60s, 70s and Sonu Nigam is a big fan of and inspired by Rafi Saab (saab/sahab=sir). They both have a soft-boy, fun boy, emotional tone to their voices. One of the songs Sonu sang while singing a duet is a beautiful track called "Raat ke Humsafar", sung by Rafi and Asha Bhosle. You can react to that one when doing another 50s-60s Bollywood music reaction :)
you guys should check out this clip of Sonu Nigam singing Tees Maar Khan, he basically sings one song with so many different voices if i remember right
At 12:30 he is singing Kishore Kumar’s song, ‘chingari koi bhadke’ imitating the vocal tone of Kishore da (Kishore Kumar was called Kishore da, da is short for dada meaning elder brother in Bengali). Standing next to him is Kishore Kumar’s son Amit Kumar also a singer and on the other end is Kumar Sanu. More than respect for Sonu, it’s appreciation of the accuracy of singing and staying true to Kishore’s rendition. Sonu has learned a ton by observing stalwarts of Indian and Pakistani music. He says in his concerts that he is blessed. He truly is blessed to have a chance to associate with the greats. See a clip of him with any of these what strikes first is the humbleness, humility and surrender to the craft. There should be a clip of him with Mehdi Hassan saab from the same show sa re ga ma I think. In the audience you will see big names in ghazal and classical singing like Jagjit Singh, Runa Laila, Ghulam Ali, Farida Khanum …
I know i should comment it on feature Friday but can you guys pls reviews one of the two: Bhool bhulaiyaa (that movie is horror comedy you'll find it extremely fun) Main hoon na (A family movie of a soldier with srk as main lead, you'll love it) Both of them consist of iconic songs as well✨💯
I have an answer to your question related to key. So in those videos from Saregama, he was singing a song twice to show how wrong key can destroy the song. Sonu Nigam is the only singer who has evaulved in real from his generation if singers, he is verstile like non to other singer. Now , the question why generally singers of current generation choose a different key during live singing ? Simple, because they cannot sing live in same key as the recorded versions are heavily auto tuned. Thats is what makes Sonu Nigam special as he sounds exactly same or at times better than the original while singing live since sometimes he adds new veriations to the studio version. He is "The Lord of Cords". Also a request, please review Sonu's tribute to Michael Jackson ❤
There is another kid in making of a legendary singer in India. Aryananda Babu, she is blowing minds of so many lead singers, her voice is like mix of K S Chitra and Shreya, her rendition is like a touch of Malayalam in Hindi songs, and all of them live. Please check her videos. They are precious. ARYANANDA BABU
I suggestion for you guys i know you review music & songs but it will be better if you listen to whole thing / song and then tell your thoughts about it in the end because something you guys are involved so much in saying things about it that you didn't listen the whole thing and missed some things / lyrics/ meaning/ music 👍🏻
he actually used to mimic Rafi when he began. I think he credits "Yeh Dil" from Pardes as the moment he found his own style... but i could also be remembering wrong
That was such a shitty compilation but Sonu Nigam being legend he sounds good in everything :D I hope you find a better video which shows some of his best work.
What kind of video is this? I guess the actual name is soms stage performances..in mid 90s he had some fabulous pop music videos...where are those? I guess its only stage performances
It's really nice to see you two reacting to indian music. I really enjoy your videos. I have seen that up until now you have reacted to only bollywood part of the indian songs. But there also the songa made for tv productions that are on another level, specially the ones that falls into the category of indian mythology. Both Br Chopra Mahabharat and Ramananda sagar ramanaya are some good examples, although they are old. You can also check out the latest version of ramanayan and mahabharat songs of star plus channel. These two stories are the core of our indian culture and watching it might give you a better picture and idea of what india (bharat) is and what is its essence. As they are the also very deeply rooted religious epics for us. Please take this into account. I can promise you will not regret watching it.

Sonu was imitating Md. Rafi when he was younger, Md. Rafi, who was the pinnacle of singing legends of 1960s to 1980s
So what , every singer gets inspired by someone, it's not called imitation it's called capturing the soul of the song which a mimicry artist can't do.

I love the use of the word 'consciously' hearing him . Coz truly that's all we can say . The man's been singing from before I was born.
