Jason, I have watched half a dozen drip tape videos this season and you described all of the steps to being successful with this system better than all of them. Thank you my friend.
Jason you crack me up with your creative videos!!! First you put the camera on the ground and your face is popping through the plants while you put in the drip line! LOL. Then you end hand feeding a Bernice a grub!! I just LOVE your humor!!!
At 1.19-1.20 I laughed out loud. Jason your face was the face of many a married couple when one acknowledges the other might have just suggested the right thing......
Thanks! You love your land, your animals and most of all, family. It shows in everything you do. You are a kind, gentle and relaxing family and I appreciate that so much.❤
Great job it looks fantastic 🙌🏻 I’m installing drip in my raised beds , next week. Home Depot couldn’t find my order and when I told them it was 1/2 black main line, they couldn’t understand why someone would want 200 ft of black hose for their birthday 😂😂🙌🏻 These are the same people who insisted my order never came and refused to look on the shelf. I got the manager who also got wouldn’t be on the shelf. And it was on the shelf 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️😂😂😂😂😂
Congratulations Jason one more step accomplished in the homestead high tunnel/greenhouse adventure! Your harvest is looking great! Looking forward to what you’re planning for the end walls! An opportunity for your creative genius to shine! Family harvesting together is a joy to watch! Peace and blessings! 💖🤗
Congratulations on your drip tape irrigation! That is a time saver for you guys! Have you tried pickled beets? Just cook them for 20 min whole in the pressure cooker. Cool down, peal them, dice them and place thembin a jar with apple cider vinegar, salt. Refrigerate them, add them tovyour salads, falafel sandwiches, whatever. So yummy!
You are correct. The reason you want the emitters facing up is so all of the tubing fills with water first. Otherwise you will have weak watering at the far end of your irrigation lines, if at all.
Great job on the drip system. I would recommend that in the hot summer you water the whole beds in the high tunnel and give them a good soaking at least once a week along with the drip system. Unless it rains in there. 😁👍
The "Veggie Boys" channel uses drip irrigation for all the hanging plants in the green houses. A real time saver. Time for me to grow some of my own food again. Nothing beats a fresh green bean. With Aloha...
You need to rotate the filter so that the sleeve is pointed down so the debris settles into it as the water flows from the source to your lines. Also clean it out frequently since your water is from a well.
Jason, in the future when using the poly pipe that is rolled up try this process to make it more manageable. There are 2 ways to deal with such rolls of poly pipe. !. literally roll it out and pull it into place instead of flailing with it all over the place. 2nd way useful for inside places like your greenhouse is to anchor the one end where you will attach it to the water source then carefully unroll it into place as you progress thru the planting area keeping it together as you unroll it into place where you want it placed. You do either of these once and get the hang of it and you will never do it any other way again. Trust me I have had to unroll hundreds of yards of this pipe in various circumstances. You will not be messing up your plantings or struggling with the pipe ever again.
When you were running the main line if you would have pinned down the end. Then rolled it out some where close in the open it will be easier to put where you need it. Took me a few times to figure that out.
Congratulations❗good drip system in the high tunnel. Wonderful to see the family picking beets & carrots. Loved the ending giving the grub to a chicken, no hesitation there‼
Your comment about coming from California hit home with me - we moved from Western Australia ( the California of Oz) to Tasmania - a cooler climate with rain (not a lot) all year round - rather than in three months of the year only. I am always worried whether my plants need water or not.
We use drip irrigation on all our land now the best move we did we normally run a 2 and half acre field for 12 hours stint 2 time a week with mixed crops sometimes we have turn something off if they don't need as much water but most of the time it just runs it will be the best thing you do less weeds 😊
After having gone through a massive drought here where i live in Australia, you guys have just convinced me that its time to install a drip system. I have a huge dam (pond) that i usually draw from to water my gardens using a sprinkler system, but this year for the first time the water in the dam dropped so low that i could not get water up to the garden. So thank you for thos video which has given me inspiration to swap over. Btw. Your beets look amazing. I love roasted beets too but i usually plant so many that i turn them into beetroot relish and pickled beetroot. ❤❤❤
Nice clean job Jason, the tapes should work great for you , I can not get over how big all your plants are, West Coast here not so much yet, been very wet this is the 1 st dry week
Linda here…I love roasted veges, too…Brussels sprouts, carrots, beets, turnip, parsnip etc. I toss them in avocado oil, crushed pork rinds and freshly grated parmigiana cheese and put them in the solar cooker for 30-45 minutes (we’re in the Caribbean). Solar cooker would be a great addition to your farm and can be a DIY project to share with your viewers!
There is no doubt that the compost soil you bought to get started was EXCELLENT soil. I'd buy another truck load and keep it for next year. I say that because the quality of everything is nosediving lately. Great garden guys! You are pros!
Lol😂 even Bernice eats good in the summer! 😂❤️🥰🇨🇦🙏🏻🍁 Congratulations on getting the drip tape installed you’re going to love it and wonder why you didn’t do it sooner! It’s a huge time saver!! God bless! ❤️🥰🇨🇦🍁🙏🏻
Great Job Jason! Your garden will be a blast. Been working with drip irrigation for more then 20 years and you're installation was perfect. Theirs no such thing as "Too Much Teflon tape". Living in semi-arid land i totally get you're California mindset about saving water. Love and good Vibes from Israel 🇮🇱🖖🏽🥭🍇🎗️
Jason, One of the best things about your video's is you do what you do in the raw. Meaning....you film as you are doing something and don't edit out or do it first and then film. You show the success and failures or leakages etc. People learn from mistakes and it is refreshing to see someone film the whole thing and not fear if what you just did didn't work. Thank you.
I am so enjoying how much you have taught yourselves and the resulting successes you are having in your food harvests. Your hard labour improving your infrastructure is paying dividends and it’s heartwarming to watch.
Hey Jason, just keep in mind that they carry low, medium and high flow drip tape. I’m not sure if the exact numbers, but most drip tape carries .65 galling per hour, per 100ft. So just make sure you leave your water on, long enough to get adequate water for your veggies. It could take anywhere from 6-8 hours, just to get a gallon of water out of each emitter.
Jason I have watched you from the beginning on your first homestead I love everything about your gardening method love your new drip system well done❤❤
Jason, we use drip tape in our raised beds and along a short hedge. I have the garden on an auto system with 8 zones/valves along with the lawns. In triple digits or when I'm planting seeds I run the garden multiple times a day for a shorter period. When established you can turn off the tomatoes as needed to prevent splitting when other plants need more water. It's less stressful and allows some freedom to not be a slave to the garden. We've utilized drip irrigation since 1986, I won't garden without it! Blessings Jan
I used to live in California to, born there in Sacramento but finally got out in 2002 it is now 2024 and I still have the California saving water mentality. Somethings you just can’t get rid of after leaving California.
Hi Jason, if I may offer some advice. If you just looped your drip tape like a U shape, same result way less cuts and equipment. Just a suggestion I have installed a lot of very similar stuff in here in Australia. I’m hearing you about conserving water. It’s huge here (although the last four years we’ve had good rainfall) but the next drought is just around the corner.😊 water at night for maximum penetration I’d start at 20 minutes per night and adjust from there. Once wet it will hold really well but I would add heaps more mulch (hay or whatever you have) I think your climate is similar to ours.😊
Sweet time . 50th FRIDAY SHOPTALK. I raised my ✋️ I have watched each week❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉 Great harvest and lesson on the drip system. You are very relaxed and peaceful teaching. See you soon. SE MICHIGAN 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 🙏 Piglets are cute to watch. How are the 2 sheep?
Jason, I have watched half a dozen drip tape videos this season and you described all of the steps to being successful with this system better than all of them. Thank you my friend.
Wow, thanks!
it sure is the best drip tape system:)
I agree! I have seen a couple of them and not been sold. Today- I think I can install it myself after watching this video!
Hi ya Jason, we use drip irrigation in Australia, you need to mulch the beds so they don’t dry out so easily
Agreed!
Jason you crack me up with your creative videos!!! First you put the camera on the ground and your face is popping through the plants while you put in the drip line! LOL. Then you end hand feeding a Bernice a grub!! I just LOVE your humor!!!
Plus, the music perfectly timed for Bernice speeding away! 🤣🤣
The music for that grub snatch and run at the end was editing perfection.
Your garden is the best on the Tubes this year. Don't tell Al and Ben. 😛
Sow the Land is admired far and wide. Me, I just love your unpretentious relating of life on your farm.
At 1.19-1.20 I laughed out loud. Jason your face was the face of many a married couple when one acknowledges the other might have just suggested the right thing......
Me too 😂
In my experience, the cauliflower always takes longer than the green broccoli. Just as the red cabbage takes longer than the green.
Thanks! You love your land, your animals and most of all, family. It shows in everything you do. You are a kind, gentle and relaxing family and I appreciate that so much.❤
Wow, thank you! thanks for watching!
Laughed out loud at the one brave chicken there at the end. Courage paid off!
Just a reminder when you use drip tape the holes in the tape go on top. it helps it not get blocked.
Thank you for that info.
Hi.... Jason and Loraine thanks you for showing your video homestead bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋👍👍👍
I busted out laughing with the music to the hen snatching the worm and running away! 😂😂😂 so funny & cute!! ❤❤
Bernice! Loved the clip at the very end - and the music went perfectly with it! Your veggies are looking fantastic!
Hey Jason,
When using drip tape you want the emitter holes to be facing up. It helps the drip emitters remain unclogged. ❤
Never have used a drip tape or hose. But I sure like the idea you have a great set up. The broccoli and cabbage look awesome. God bless.
Proud of you guys. You've come along way and are living your dream. Not many people can say that my friend. God bless you and your beautiful family.
Great job it looks fantastic 🙌🏻 I’m installing drip in my raised beds , next week. An opportunity for your creative genius to shine! Family harvesting together is a joy to watch! Peace and blessings! 💖🤗
You’re getting it all done! 👏👏👏
Suggestion: You can fold over the end of the drip tape and zip tie it to close it. Great video
I love ALL Sow the Land videos!
thank you
Smart man to put the mainline at the edge, so if you need to stop heat or cold creep of that line you can tie it to the ribs of the tunnel.
I really like the way you have set up your beds. The shorter direction, rather than the longer. More access to veggies,
Congratulations on your drip tape irrigation!
So yummy!
We use a cinnamon stick and a few cloves also. Sometimes add anise if we have it.
Wow thanks for that quick recipe idea. I have only a few beets but I'm the only one who eats them.... Maybe not now😊❤
Lol. Pickled beets are the things of nightmares for those of us that have the best taste like dirt gene. Gratefully, I didn't get the cilantro gene!
Good looking garden this year! And worrying about containing sweet potato growth is hopeless.
I hate to correct anything you are doing, but the emitters in the drip tape should face up. Great job!!! So happy for y'all!
can you share the reason why?
@@elidaz-2025so they didn't get blocked up with dirt apparently.😊
You are correct. The reason you want the emitters facing up is so all of the tubing fills with water first. Otherwise you will have weak watering at the far end of your irrigation lines, if at all.
Doing the drip tape I heard singing! Gardening is supposed to be both physically and mentally therapeutic. :) With Aloha...
Great job on the drip system. I would recommend that in the hot summer you water the whole beds in the high tunnel and give them a good soaking at least once a week along with the drip system. Unless it rains in there. 😁👍
Loved the camera angles. So much fun to watch!
So glad!
I run my drip tape for 15 mins 3 times a Day. 3 am 11 am and 4pm in Central Texas
Hi, Jason and Lorraine! Excellent DIY video. You were both thorough and precise. No more hauling buckets of water. YAY!!!!!
Lol love the way that chicken just stanched the grub ❤
this is a GREAT drip tutorial. One of your best yet. Thank you for sharing!
The "Veggie Boys" channel uses drip irrigation for all the hanging plants in the green houses. A real time saver. Time for me to grow some of my own food again. Nothing beats a fresh green bean. With Aloha...
Jason. The water line trenching was epic. That took some patience. God Bless
You need to rotate the filter so that the sleeve is pointed down so the debris settles into it as the water flows from the source to your lines. Also clean it out frequently since your water is from a well.
Bernice taking the bug! Priceless!❤😂

All three of you cleaning products from your garden, priceless:)))

Your gardens look fantastic!! The cabbage, broci, carrots, beets look so yummy. Bernice got the slug Fast!!? 😺. ❇️💞❇️
It all looks great! Love the drip tape and timer, huge time and water saver! 👌👍 Lol at the chicken who did NOT want to share the huge grub! 😂
Seems to me, that you and your family are finally, really beginning to reap the seeds you’ve sown. Love to see it!
just an fyi. the holes typical face upward to avoid sediment from blocking the holes.
thanks for the tip! I really appreciate it.
❤

i just love watching you guys. i get good info from it and a few good chuckles too.
Add some radishes to your roasted veggies. They are amazing! They have a completely different flavor when hot and roasted.
Thin out the Beets and saute the greens in butter and olive oil with garlic.

thats a lot of work but it will be done and never have to worry for a season hugsss
Use pegs for your trip line to keep them closer to the plant
*SMILES* Huge congrats on your drip tape garden! Great big 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for your homestead! Thanks very much for your vids!
Happy Days! ☀️😄👏🥰🤗🙏👩🌾🧑🌾
Excellent screen shots ❤❤❤❤🙌🙌 Any project you work on is excellent in my eyes, you are very smart. your farm is happening 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
You should pickle some of those beets, I love them!
We also eat the beet greens add a little vinegar and salt and garlic pepper yum.
You can Pickel Beets. They are delicious. Just boil the first and peel after. Slice them into jars and make a Brine and can them.
You can can the beets. That's what I want to do with mine. That way, you can have them whenever you want.
Nice clean job Jason, the tapes should work great for you , I can not get over how big all your plants are, West Coast here not so much yet, been very wet this is the 1 st dry week

That drip system is going to be such a time saver. 💕💕🌻🌻
Great job always the best show in town
I’m with you. I never ate beets till I started growing them. I also use leftover beet juice for pickling eggs.

GREETINGS AND BLESSINGS 🙏
BIG HUG FROM CHICAGO IL 🌪️🌪️🌪️🌪️🌪️
“Show Me The Way To Go Home“ Fine job as always!
2 hours on the drip tape😊. Can pickled beets..yummy.
I think the drip holes are supposed to be on top of the tape. It helps reduce the chances of it clogging the hole.
Jason you do everything great! Love your videos ❤
To use all your beets, you have got to can pickled beets with onions. Soooo delicious
We run our drip tape for two hours. It works for us.

🪻 Good job Lorrain . Those gardens looks so healthy. 🌾🌱
Great accomplishments, Sow the Land family! Thanks for sharing. Blessings to all 🤗🇨🇦
Looks great Jason! Lorrain must be a happy lady!! Keep rockin on!!
The quick bird gets the worm!
Jason I have watched you from the beginning on your first homestead I love everything about your gardening method love your new drip system well done❤❤
I love pickled beets. I've not had them roasted, but in general I don't care for roasted veggies. I like them steamed.
This is a BIG day on your homestead!😊❤❤❤❤
I just realised the sources of water you have on your farm. Your Well and rainwater catchment ... most educational....
Your garden and high tunnel crops look wonderful!! You are truly living your dream in growing your own food and improving the land

Good point. Be careful what you plant together, consider the water needs😊

I actually ordered the tomato clips through your link and I going to by the drip tape kits soon.
Your videos are so interesting and informative I could watch them even if they were 2 hours long. Love your farm and family. God bless! ❤

How are the 2 sheep?
You do such a good job at everything you do.
Great video showing how to do this - exactly what I needed to know. And your pigs!!! So cute, lol! And love Bernice! lol!
Looking like a good use of your water.
I used to have run a lot of PVC pipe, always put it out in the sun if I could, make it a lot easier to work with. Love your videos
