This documentary had a limited pre-release here in Atlanta about three weeks ago at the AMC movie theater which is located in the upscale Phipps Plaza Mall in the Buckhead area. I happened to be walking through the mall when I saw the poster advertising this documentary. When I tell you that this doc sent me on a full rollercoaster ride. You had better be ready to laugh, be awed, and even cry. Trust me on this. It is so powerful and mind blowing. When this movie is fully released in December, nationwide, please go and see it with family and friends for the Holidays. You will not be disappointed. ❤🎉❤🎉❤❤❤

At first, she didn't want to do it, but they insisted. The way I wailed into the walkie when they told me, she didn't understand. I was a fan of Luther since he was with the group CHANGE. His voice stood out.
My favorite song by the group is THE GLOW OF LOVE. It was the #1 on the Billboard Chart (1980).
I remember Luther discussing that they didn't put him on the cover of the album due to his weight. This broke my heart.
In any event, Luther proved them wrong. He became a G.O.A.T.
(one of the greatest singers of all time). His musical legacy will live on long after we are gone.
I was so fortunate to attend one of the first memorial services they had for him in Harlem.
D'Angelo performed & sounded just like Luther. It was a beautiful service.
Luther's voice was breathtaking. His background singers were also amazing. They include: Cissy Houston, Grammy & Stellar Award gospel singer. Tawatha Agee of Mtume (Women Songwriters Hall of Fame. Lisa Fischer, Grammy Award winner (Ease The Pain).
Luther was a pure artist, thick or thin. He definitely has gone too soon.

Like you, I got a chance to see Luther a few times: a) the opening act for the Commodores farewell tour; b) by himself; c) with Anita Baker;and d) with En Vogue. His concerts were a spectacle. You had a man who could sing to the cows came home. He could engage with the audience. And the costumes for him and his background singers were next level. I am not going to be one of those people that says "there will never be another Luther." While there was only one Luther Vandross, there are other spectacular singers and there are some who have yet to be born. Only the Almighty will let us know that. But he entertained us to no end.

Let me tell ya' ll a story about Mr. Luther Vandross. I went to his concert in Mobile, AL. Honey, the man put on the best performance. He had everyone got their seats, and his voice was hypnotic. Let me tell ya, by the time I left the concert. I couldn't talk from screaming and singing the entire time during the concert. Of course, I had to go to work the day, and it was my day to be the switchboard operator. It was so funny assisting the customer in a whisper voice, and I was asked how you lost your voice. I said Luther Vandross caused me to lose my voice at his concert . I was so happy to have experienced the opportunity to see and hear a man with a beautiful voice.

OMG OMG....I still get the goosies listening to the sweet gentleman sing. I LOVED him so much. I cried the day I heard he passed. That night we went out dancing and we requested if the DJ could play some of his songs, which he did. We Celebrated him....always and 4-ever! ♥♥♥

There are a few music artists that don’t need the, I guess you could say, validation from the awards and accolades. Earth, wind and fire is one, and Luther Vandross is the second. If he’s never inducted into the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame, it doesn’t change a thing for real Luther Vandross and music fans around the world. The greatest to ever do what he did and what everybody else is trying to do. And that’s sing. RIP Luther.

He was also a friend of her family, and Cissy Houston sang backup for him in 80s and 90s. Also Whitney’s Godmother, Darlene Love, sang backup for him with Cissy Houston. A small world!
