  • Andrew Woodruff (@_devyscout) (‪@approachingthepros‬ ) breaks down his high school running back model darling freshman Aneyas Williams with some serious upside and zero buzz in the football community. Those paying attention may have the next future star as I share what stands out in the model about the ND freshman.

Absolute superstar. Saw him play many a game. Special. His father was a legend as well!

Love to hear the experience is matching the eye test of the HS model. I’m pumped to see what he can do in year 1!

Loaded 4 man RB room. All 4 players can make it to the NFL.

Definitely a good shot they will get a shot at the pros. I think the young guys may have a shot at a higher ceiling though for sure!

I agree. He's like Faison. Will be very dependable if you give him the reps.

Reports make it seem like we will see him some this year. Excited to see how it plays out the next handful of years

@@approachingthepros Right. Sadly I really like G'bron Payne's abilities more than most, but as injuries occur, it makes room for talents like Aneyas to shine. I didn't see any HS film on him but what I saw in the Spring game made me a believer. Tough, hard-nosed, quick, strong, and fast.

CJ Prosise was a great running back. What’s going on with this metric

HS stats said he was more of a long term bet. It is really great for comparing RBs at a similar point in their career of how successful they have been with their reps up to the time of entering college. So for example, Aneyas and Kyren made the most of their HS productive careers on a per game basis so it just shows they have a higher level odds of being a good NFL player.

He might. Never said he could not. But comparing where those two came out during HS, the ceiling may end up much higher for Aneyas if he ever secures the RB1 role in the future.

Thanks for the video, my first time watching your channel. I think people aren't high enough on Williams. Watching his film from his senior season you can see he is a baller with insnane production. My question is about competition level. How does your model compensate for the difference in competition that Williams would face compared to say Jadarian Price at Denton Texas?

Hey I apologize for the slow response (busy school life as a teacher at new school). Aneyas is definitely a baller and getting some good buzz from Notre Dame. I love your question and am actually going to shout it out in the next video (HS WR model), but the short answer is the model seems to point out that production that outperforms your peers is more relevant than competition level. Plus not every player’s family can help get their kid to a higher level of competition so it’s just up to the kid to go be studs on whatever field they do get to play. Check out my RB model video for an example!

@approachingthepros thanks for the response! I would agree with the premise that the production is a much more important factor than the competition. Just wasn't sure if competition was accounted for with the model or not. I'll check out the video you referenced, thanks!
