    So many young curly girls mess their hair up because they're not being taught how to look after and style it.
    How many people here had a mom that would roll their eyes and criticize you for being _obsessed_ with your hair and straightening it?
    In my first year of highschool my mom went through a weird phase where she made me wear my hair down to teach me to embrace it's natural texture.... My natural texture at the time was frizz! I got made fun of a lot and I was never given any product or guidance to manage it. And she told me that if I kept tying it up (she saw the kink that hair ties leave in my hair) she told me she'd cut it off. So it was either have a frizz ball for hair or no hair!
    This lasted for a few months. She eventually gave up and let me do what I wanted with it but needless to say, the day I could afford a hair straightener, my hair was straight every single day for years after!!
    The amount of times I broke down crying because some girl at school mad fun of my hair, or just the sheer lack of self esteem from having "bad hair". That, on top of what my mom did really messed my perception of having curls.

    Thank you so much for this video. I've never seen photos of anyone's "before" that had hair like me, but your "before" at 0:08 is basically what my hair looks like now when I try to let it be curly. I've only heat styled my hair once since February, and I've always, even as a kid, had a ton of baby hairs that are about 2-3 inches long and are all over my head. They make the hair around my head very thick but then the ends look limp. Anyway, you've given me hope to keep trying!

    Thank you for answering my questions!!! I 100% agree. What’s your thoughts about sulfates and silicones? Ever since I watched dr dray dermatologist videos on it and manes by mell, I am not strict anymore but I do always read the ingredients list for protein and moisture balance so I don’t over do something. I like using a sulfate once twice a month (I wash it twice a week) to get everything out since some of my products do contain silicones but not a lot. Also olefin sulfonate pretty much does the same job and it’s in a lot of these “none sulfate” shampoos. And I do like to use it once a week. I have 2 Cowashes without olefin sulfonate and that I use between washes if I want a good refresh. My hair is 2b, 2c and here and there 3a. Medium density by porosity I am not sure but all the hair I have grown out wasn’t bleached or colored, heat styled once or twice a year for the past 3yrs, basically since I had my child lol (don’t have time for that.) ughh, still figuring out tho! I’m new to the curly girl but I didn’t start with extremely damaged hair, but definitely had it’s own share in damage.

      Thank you so much for watching. It means a lot. & I love manes by mel! I don’t think there’s a problem with silicones and sulfates if you use them right and you treat your hair right while using those ingredients. Protein and moisture balance is key! It’s helped me a lot & im glad you pay attention to that. Cowashes are amazing. I love the curlsmith one. & I feel like everyone’s curl journey is so unique and different 💕💕

      Alexa’s Curls I want to try curl Smith out definitely! I’m in Germany and it’s not easily accessible unfortunately. I also get everything on amazon or any website for double the price sometimes more☹️
      So curlsmith here is on the high high end side haha I’m waiting to see a good deal I can snag. Single mom here and actually my daughters curls that made me so passionate about it cause I was confused how she has curls and from where she’s half white (German) half Middle Eastern. She has those gorgeous tight ringlets literally everyone out and about comments on her hair everytime! But also really really fine like pin straight white people hair fine but crazy tight ringlets I don’t understand😂 never saw before. And she’s only 2. I think she has 3b hair, fine dark blonde. A beautiful mixture truly😆💘

    My hair is like half of yours 😂😭 and actually we have similar curl type, but I don't have ringlets all over, and I've been trying to have healthy hair, but it still doesn't look like I would like it to look, maybe because I don't do protein treatments, we don't have a lot of curly products in Croatia so it's really hard

    • @AlexasCurls
      @AlexasCurls  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's awesome that we have a similar curl type! & I feel what made it thicker was definitely time and patience & also when I stopped heat styling I saw a big difference & using many of the shea moisture products with Jamaican Black Castor oil etc.

    • @berchyzgb4423
      @berchyzgb4423 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@AlexasCurls I edited my comment because you did anwser the question about thickness, so thank you 😊 also the worst part is my country doesn't sell shea moisture or any of the popular curly products, and I didn't straighten my hair for 2 or 3 years, and before that I didn't straighten it much. Just one more question, did you ever do diy protein treatments? I think my hair doesn't have good balance between protein and moisture, I'm searching through your videos but I didn't find a video like that

    • @AlexasCurls
      @AlexasCurls  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bernardica Vučić Zgb yes! I do DIY TREATMENTS. they are the best and less expensive. So def search some up on google. You can use things like eggs, avocado, honey and other things! You can even try to find raw shea butter?! Also I think I’m going to do a protein moisture balance routine towards the end of this month! 💕💕
