Great video! I’m in the same boat….I started a channel to challenge myself and to keep me accountable to put the work in to paint more. Gen X introverts unite! Lol 😁
I love your comment at the beginning that says “why not be the person I’m looking for?” Please stick with this- you are definitely a natural, and you have what it takes to be successful here! Stay strong! Your videos are great! You’ve got this!
I’m glad I found you from Tracie’s shout out! I can really identify with your TH-cam experience so far. (just that, not the sport!) Even though I’ve been at it for a little while, I still deal with awkwardness, especially in public. But the experience has really changed me, and whether monetization brings me piles of money or not, it is worth every bit of effort that I put into it. I can’t wait to hear more about your journey. Thank you for your comment and for subscribing! Yes, recording in public is awkward. I haven't tried it while talking but just doing the action shots feels weird, like I'm putting too much attention on myself. I've mostly enjoyed it so far. Even with the issues I've had, I can't stop thinking about the videos I want to make so I think I'm liking it more than I thought. And connecting with people like you makes it more rewarding!
You shared so many golden nuggets of wisdom in this video, but when you were sharing how starting your channel was something that you hoped would reignite the spark in you because of "life happenings," that spoke to my heart. Different life situations for us, but starting my TH-cam channel was the spark that I was looking for in my life after 'life." I completely relate to what you are saying here about that. Life happenings can knock the wind out of us sometimes, and we need an "oompf" from somewhere to get us back on track and connected to our authentic selves. Thank you for sharing that and being vulnerable. ❤ Edited to add: I had to come back and add how amazing Tracie and Imogen are. I am in love with the idea of supporting each other in this way. Once I am back to making new videos (mine are currently prerecorded for while I am recovering from surgery) I want to do the same thing. It is a trend that is fantastic and one I want to be a part of, too. Its quite beautiful.
Thanks! Yes, lots of people had much worse circumstances during and after COVID that me but sometimes it seems like everything happens at once or its just one thing after another. Sometimes it becomes too much and something has to give and our hobbies unfortunately end up being what we have to cut back on.
I love to listen to you speak on this because it applies to so many other area in our life. I’m so glad you tried! I also use only a phone to film all my videos. You’re doing great. Your authenticity is what drew me in. You are adventurous, were you an athletic teen? My next thing will be pottery. That is a bummer she moved. Does she still do it in her new state? Agree, having a channel can hold accountability, the community, the support. I have found it has kept my creative spark consistent. Thank you for mentioning me. Imi is a friend of mine! She is a big hearted encouraging person.❤ Keep going.
Hi! And thank you! I can't wait to hear about you trying pottery. I was an athletic kid. I played basketball and softball and ran around a ranch and my grandparent's farm. Sometimes I get a little burned out on TH-cam because I've been focusing on it so much but new ideas keep popping back up in my mind and then I'm back at it again. Thanks for the encouragement!
Thank you so much for the shout out! I think your idea of supporting other people with channels is a great idea and I will try to figure out how to do that with some of my videos. I love that idea. I am going to check out the ladies that you highlighted on here. It must be so frustrating to have so many creative ideas that you want to do and are stopped because of the logistics of having someone to help you film. Is there any way the owner of the gym would allow you to come a little bit early or stay a little bit later just to do some filming or maybe a special session just to video. And perhaps maybe you could show her sign and do a little marketing in return. Keep up the great work!
Your welcome! They have an open gym which is when I usually film. Yesterday there was just one other person there so I was able to set up my tripod and record several different things and my son is coming with me again next week. With a tripod I can only do things within a small area but I was able to mark a lot off my list. Thanks!
Wonderful video! A lot of it resonates, your filming area for sure. What you don't see in mine is the stacks of paper products and coffee I have stashed off camera lol. So many lessons on sticking to it, not giving up etc. You have a large garden? I hope we get to see that in the better weather.
Thank you! Originally my channel was going to be a gardening channel and I still want to do that but I'm not sure I'll have time. Just this one is taking up a lot of time!
I love the “small channel sharing” concept!
